Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 54° at 0600. Two hours ago at 0400, it was cloudy and 74° and then the wind shifted. It won't get any cooler this morning, but we're looking at a few days with the overnight lows in the 40's; daytime highs in the mid-60's.

Yesterday I set out a bunch more tomato plants. I planted a few mounds of both Yellow and Zucchini Squash. I didn't get to the green bean seed but I will today. I still have a few odd tomatoes left to do as well, but they won't take long. That should be it for the spring garden. I did a bunch of other stuff outside while it was warm. I also walked all the way to the mailbox and back, 2.25 miles instead of my usual 1.25 mile trek. Somewhere in between, my neighbor from up the hill stopped by and we spent an hour BSing with one another.
Five and a half days without my hearing aids and I really am beginning to miss them, especially when I can't hear the traffic on the road when I am fertilizing a tree. Neighbor was a bit of a strain since he's 80 years old and doesn't talk very loud to begin with. I really need them in time for this Sunday's family Easter gathering. Smaller gathering than usual this year, just 37 folks. I need to be able to hear something besides tinnitus.

Swal - Good luck on your wife's back surgery.

I need to get out of here right now. Wife may be having a medical issue that we need to attend to. Be back later with an update.

Have a great day.

Smudge: Give it 50/50 on that which depends on what liquids I have and how long before bed. Sometimes I do not wake at all ( as far as I know ) and sleep the 5-6 hours.

I take it you are Type II? I suspect that diabetes is not the cause of the pee problem, get your PSA checked. Prostate issues can cause that exact issue. My Doc found the issue just before the China Virus. That all started about 10 years prior getting worse and worse. Found that my PSA was 12 something; start of issues is a rising level above 2. Did radiation therapy ( 5 weeks straight, 5 days a week,15 minute sessions ) which took that number to 0. Still is 0 after 3ish years.

Later
Yes, I'm type II, I'm fine now as long as I don't have any sugary drinks/food late at night, that has a tendency to mess my night up, otherwise I get a good nights sleep now.

Morning all,

90° yesterday in my part of the Wichita area, and with wind chill feels like 18° this morning. Storms overnight produced a whopping rain total of .15 of an inch. Hardly worth the storm watch. No more expected for the next 7 days. Rain as far as the eye can see and none closer. We get the clouds, but nothing out of them.

Off all day for a mid-morning dental appointment to get that tooth fixed. Got the rebate from my tires yesterday, so guess what's getting applied to the crown...

I think I dodged another major expense...

Our youngest is just starting her career. Yesterday was her second day on the job in the Emergency Room for a local hospital.

After her shift, she called, all upset because the dashboard on her car started lighting up like the Vegas Strip... All codes were pointing to a fault in the transmission TCC (Torque Converter Control). It has a CVT, so I was immediately at a loss, because I have no experience with CVTs.

This was around 8:00PM, so all the dealerships and repair shops were closed. I swapped cars with her so she would have reliable transportation today, since missing work on day 3 of a new job would not be good. The car was HOT... the radiator overflow was almost full, and when I popped the cap on the radiator, some fluid jumped out. Didn't get burned, thank goodness. My mind was trying to figure out why the car would be so hot, yet the error codes are point to the tranny.

The car sat for a good half hour while we Googled the error codes, and came up with a plan. When I drove it home, it was fine.

In hind sight, I think she may have driven home from work in low gear... It's the only explanation... It hasn't thrown a code since then, and I drove it 35 minutes each way in my commute... Fingers crossed!

Good morning!

A storm blew through late yesterday afternoon, dumping just enough snow to be aggravating. Of course, we are used to that in the north. We still get tired of it though.

Swal - It might be late in ice-fishing season down south, but up here, we are in primetime ice-fishing. There's still 3 feet of ice out there, and it's warm enough to fish. No chance of going under right now. When the ice starts melting, it will begin on the lakes edge, leaving a strip of water that can't be crossed without a boat. The ice in the middle is always the last to go.

We did good yesterday. Both the wife and I caught our legal limit of Rainbow. All were +/-14" trout, which makes them around 1lb each.
Here's one of mine:

Karl - My crazy ex-wife showed up at my backdoor 25yrs after we were divorced. She wanted to live with me and my wife because she had fallen into bad times. After I slammed the door in her face, I had to call the cops to get her off my front lawn. No way I was going to remove her, because I probably would have been arrested for assault.
I believe there are more desperate crazy women out there than men.

Well, I need to load the truck again. It's back to the lake for us today.

Have agreat day!

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where the weather sure made a showing after midnight. At 1:15 I was startled awake by a piercing whistle like noise. I thought the house was damaged but thankfully not. Just the way the wind was moving through the trees. Went downstairs, Terry on the couch and I got into my chair. Slept to 3:20 when the house was getting pelted with hail. 15 -20 minutes of that and just rain until I went back to sleep.

I have inspected the house inside and out. The siding on the west side definitely has hail damage. Many hundreds of dents. The roof looks different but the shingles are still there so that just might be my imagination. There are 3 windows on the main floor west side of the house. All have cracks on the outside pane of the insulated glass. Terry’s office window (about 4’x6’) faces north and is shattered on the outside pane. Lots of shards between the remaining glass and on the ground. The downstairs patio door the is in the southwest corner of the house also is shattered and we were maybe 24’ from it this morning and didn’t realize it shattered. Because it’s tempered glass it’s a pretty (not) crystalized art piece. I think if I breathe on it, it would collapse.

Looking down the neighbor yards, the girl’s furniture behind us is embedded into the siding of the house next door to her. Our Insurance agent has the answering machine on till office hours start at 8. But we are important to them, leave a message.

So, I will be somewhat busy this morning but I really don’t have any damage except Terry’s window I can do anything about. Picking the glass off the ground outside. This was just wind but mainly hail damage but listening to the house get pelted last night was scary. Sort of miss the last house where only 10% of it was exposed as it was earth sheltered.

Terry went down to her stables and says they look fine. I will join her at the new house and we will check that over. The daughter says they are fine but they have not looked around the outside of their place.

Nothing that can’t be repaired and with no injuries everything will be fine and more relaxed in a few hours. Trains though today are not very important right now.

Good Morning to all those with reading sorting problems, ex-wife's, sleep, and pee issues!

37 degrees looking for 67 under sunny skies.

FLO - Please prod MEL into a "garbage" omelet this morning - I will need it to cope with half a dozen stops this morning from one end of town to the other. Went to get gas for the truck yesterday across town to a Dr office for my neighbor, and then to the HDW store for a sprinkler valve (got a busted one),and then to Costco because some jackass syphoned my truck empty (about 10 gas worth), and my card was declined, and I realized that I had not updated it, and then stopped at the market for a pound of HB, and then filled up the propane bottle for the grill.
I'm not used to more than 2 stops at a time and the traffic tired me!
Guess I get to backtrack to Costco again, and the Spousal Unit gave me a list since I have to go into the establishment to update the card. Then to the bank to get some cash for the plumber who is coming this afternoon to repair the sprinkler valve. I started to work on it a few days back, but became dizzy and had to stop. Almost any effort on my part to do anything that requires energy has suddenly become exhausting and impossible to do. Laasst evening I actually stood up from the couch, became suddenly dizzy, and fell sideways. Just pretty much worthless - and it's all happened in the last 2-3 years - well after my A-Fib issues anyway.
OK, my omlet is here ... hope everyone's day is better!

0844 at the time of this post and it’s already 61 with a high of 78… in April! Nice.

The park opened last weekend. First time ever that we opened that early. This year is our 60th Anniversary. For the most part all went well.

Our local large amusement park has had to postpone their spring opening twice already due to snow. From Mar 25 to Apr 8. They plan on opening this weekend, It is supposed to start warming up tomorrow and be up to 70 next week.

Dodged a bullet! My co-worker fell on the proverbial sword and kept the Ex busy. I didn't even have to speak at her, even though every time I passed the waiting room I was being stared at. I kept busy making calls. She left just after 9. Yay!

What kind of car? CVT transmissions pretty much don't have gears per se, but they can limit how far the drive pulley can expand. so yes, she may have had it in the wrong gear, and may have set a false code.

It's a 2014 Subaru Forester. The gear shifter is on the floor. It goes PRND. Pull it all teh way back, and it's in "drive." But once in "D" all you have to do is pull it toward you a bit, and it goes into "Low."

I know it's not geared like a traditional transmission, but the controller keeps the RPMs higher when it's in "Low." I think the car was just working too hard for her 15-minute commute. At least I hope that's all it is.

I hate it when it snows when the park is open. You have to shovel EVERYTHING! It takes everyone we have all day to do it. Thankfully we are a smaller park.

Mclead That's some story.

Unfortunately I have to start my income tax today. I thought I was ordering an online version of Turbo Tax from Stables but found I was ordering a CD version instead. It came 2 days ago, and I think it may have been over packed.

They sent extra HOT AIR, a free bonus you get from the gubmint for paying taxes. And they have to do something with all the hot air generated by congress.

Hail update.

4 windows have the glass out and are boarded up. The guys thought they might be back late Friday or Saturday with the replacement glass. The patio door glass has been measured and plywood applied inside and out and it maybe awhile.

Insurance agent‘s office apologized for not getting back right away but had the glass guys out damn quick. The siding and roof are to be looked at hopefully next week. Most of the inspectors for their company are working the Janeville, Beloit area and Rockford, Il areas that got hit last week. I have pictures I emailed in and they will start the claims. The claims person said she will go by a new roof and siding to start, if it changes after the inspection she will let us know. Interesting process but they were here a couple Summers ago when the F0 tornado threw debris against this place and the roof was inspected then so they have dimensions.
