Over the last nine months or so, I have placed 3 orders with "Bob the Train Guy". Every time I received an order confirmation and order number, then nothing. I had to go to PayPal today for another refund request on an order placed on April 8th. No answers to my e-mails from Bob when I checked on my order status. I am officially done with ordering from this guy.
Buyers beware.

Take care....John
I have used Bob the train guy many times in the past, before 2023. I have tried to buy this year but his inventory seems like it’s non-existent and if it’s not in stock, I will not buy.

Sorry you are having issues but thankfully you used PayPal. I will remove him from my list of shops to buy from.

Hold on to those ELECTRIC MOTORS fellows! They may be making a comeback?

Long live the GG1.

California passes 1st-in-nation train emissions rules
California’s Air Resources Board Thursday approved a rule banning the use of locomotive engines more than 23 years old by 2030 and increasing the use of zero-emissions technology to transport freight from ports and throughout railyards.

Well, The deed is done - happened Tuesday. Putting my pups - two in two weeks - down has to be the worst feeling that I have ever experienced in my life and I am still very emotional over it!
I cannot remember if I have posted this photo of FOXIE before -- it was made during the 1918/1919 time frame. See you at the Bridge, FOXIE!

Sherrel, my condolences on the loss of your furbaby. We had to make the painful decision with Miss Allie a couple months ago. Best we can figure, she was somewhere between 10-14 years old.

hmmm....first computer was the Commodore 64....

My high school (in Mass) was the/one of the launch high schools for the educational variant of the C64 (the computer wasn't different though the rainbow label came later and our school ones didn't have that label). There was a big launch party with speeches and demos and catered food and big wigs from the Commodore HQ in PA were there. My friends and I, part of the computer classes at school, were asked to help out at the event -- we gladly did because of the food but we disdained the computers themselves, being Atari men that we were (Atari 800 class computers, not the Atari game system).

I did a bunch of programming of them in the last two or three years of high school but it was enough. Never owned one myself.

The C64 had the 6510 chip in it, which was basically a 6502 with some extra I/O pins/ports built in to the chip. The C64 ran its chip at around 1mhz, like the Apple II ran its 6502 CPU. The Atari 400/800 ran its 6502 at 1.79mhz so was a bit faster in raw speed. Those were the days when computers were interesting, because the technology was changing fast but was very crude by todays standards. But because we didn't have the background of technology (didn't grow up with it), it was all new and cool. Most of you guys are my age or older so you know what I am talking about.

Our other dog Tiffy suddenly died today. My wife said Tiffy, who was laying on the coach, hasn't moved in a hour. Take a look at her. I said she's dead. My wife said really? I told her for some reason she died in her sleep. We have 3 dogs buried underneath the large bush in the back yard. I'll have to find another spot for Tiffany. All are dogs are at least home. We have one left Val born on Valintine's day and she's 15.

Retirement was in 2014 for me and I let them know in January that I was done on my 62nd birthday September 29th. I didn’t start counting though until August as I just then couldn’t stop thinking about it. In the middle of August my brother walked into my office and asked me if I really was leaving. Told him, I wasn’t leaving I was retiring. He asked why and I told him it wasn’t fun anymore.

I think to this day, 8+ years later he still doesn’t get that. 4 months later at Christmas he told me I still could come back, turns out my replacement quit. They didn’t hire my assistant as I recommended, she left 30 days after I did. I told him why I left and why it wasn’t fun. His management team was terrible, narcissist and sexist. His comment was I always saw the negative in things and people. I did tell him I usually was right.

Turned out after a few months of disagreement, I was owed 6 months severance per contract and 30 days PTO. I was the first to actually retire from the company. HR especially the female director, who didn’t like me made it difficult for me but I dotted all the i’s and crossed all the T’s. She still though wouldn’t approve my PTO or severance payments. I left the 1st Tuesday of September. I wanted my severance prior to my birthday as it would affect the Social Security I applied for to start on my 62nd birthday. Ended up telling my brother of the issues, got my payments in my account the next day.

Retirement has been busy but fun

Am sorry to hear that - loosing a pet is hard, very hard :(

Being a single male for 30 + yrs now, I gave up pets long time ago, mostly cause always on the go, work etc etc, so pet would have always been alone. But I have gone through the experience.
my only beer, maybe 600 liters over the yrs.
my first computer ;) (dad was using it in the mid 60's ) I could use it but needed the instructions at all stages
