Afternoon All,

Today I finished putting in the last 3 lights in the engine servicing area. After that I did several things around the house. I'm kind of tied to the bathroom since I started a course of antibiotics for an infected cyst on my back. I am also taking a probiotic to minimize the GI symptoms. Fun times. :(

Sherrel- My condolences for your family.

Terry- Sorry to hear that.

Guy- The ground throw looks good and nice 1:1 photos.

Steve- All my T/O's are Peco except 2 ME and 1 Shinohara 3-way T/O. The Shinohara is the only one that requires ground-throws. I had a very frustrating experience with Tortoises on my first layout and I'll probably never use them again.

Ken D&J- Very nice work on the bridge and scenery.

Dave- Nice layout photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.

We have found frogs and other creepies 6ft down in the soil ( mostly mud ). Ya would be digging and find a hand or foot sticking out. Don't know how many have been amputated - dug a couple out carefully and after they warm up, off they go.

Dave - have an 88 Blazer and so far love the thing. Ya, mine needs some body work. If trains don't keep me busy, this thing will.

This is on a '78 3/4 ton frame; 454 4 bolt main; 650cfm Eldebrock. We just went through ALL of the running gear and replaced and or renewed everything. Only have the steering box left to do. Then I get to play with and learn interior stuff.
That Chevy is a beauty! I got to ask, what is the MPG with that big block? I'm guessing 5-10, maybe a little more if you drive it gently. I think it would be worth every penny!

Afternoon folks.....

Well it happend! I tested positive for the COVID. So I will be in quarintine mode lol it doesnt change my life style too much as I am a bit of a loner lol. I tested this Wednesday. So far I have had a sore throat and redness in the ears. No solid foods just chicken soup and a ton of cranberry, OJ and ginger ale. Water too. Staying hydrated and somewhat active. I can work from home so there's that. Taste buds are flat. Had 2 fevers but both broke each time. Washed bed sheets and liner and pillows. Hot showers. I am just handling it like a regular cold. I have not been sick in eons but here we are. So far nothing going on in the chest region as far as breathing etc. Energy low but to be expected. I ate a pinneapple today with some watermelon. Hopefully in a few days I will bounce back up.

In the mean time I got a few things in the mail yesterday and today. I will post that on the RPO thread. The Big Boy arrives tomorrow! I can't wait to get that! Tomorrow morning I will work on a few minor things on the boat. If the weather warms up a little more I may take it for a spin we shall see. Social distance is in the cards. I will take another test on Monday we shall see how things go.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and a warm 70° again today. A repeat of yesterday here, high around 85°, maybe cooler tonight in the mid-60's. Weather geeks at the NWS are still predicting major thunderstorms and much lower temperatures Sunday and Monday; no snow though. The 20 mph winds from the south will continue until Sunday when they turn from the north for a couple of days. High on Monday is only expected to be in the mid-60's.

Oh my! The attire at the grocery store changed this week from Lululemon pants to booty shorts and Daisy Dukes! Other than much higher prices all around, my Kroger has returned to pre-pandemic condition. Looks like inflation and the dropping of "free money" has brought about full employment in this part of the country. Our Kroger store is located in Denton TX and at least half of the employees are college students. The two universities in town (UNT & TWU) have 55,000 students enrolled and most need to work at least a little bit. The rich kids that don't need to work, all go to SMU in Dallas!
The overall grocery trek was successful yesterday. Instead of the shoe store, we went to the jewelry store instead and dropped the car wash since we're expecting rain. Those were all my wife's decisions - I just drove. Spent more money than expected at Home Depot. I somewhat remember the good old days when my favorite store was Victoria Secret's; now it's Home Depot or Lowes with Tractor Supply in close third.
I sorted, cut and stacked the firewood that I got from the tree trimmers later in the day. Despite the 85° temperature, it was cloudy and windy so it wasn't too unpleasant. Got to get it out of the way for continuous mowing. I think that I am going back to Dallas today to take my wife to the other daughter's home for a three day grandson sitting job. Daughter #1 could easily do it as she lives only a mile away, but my wife hasn't been able to visit with him in a while. They went out of state for spring break and she hasn't been able to spend much time with them. I think that she really wants to get away from me.

As always, thanks for the comments and reactions to yesterday's post regarding the sidewalk.; Patrick, Steve J, Rick, George, Sherrel, Karl, Troy, Smudge, Joe, Hughie, Dave B, Chad, Mikey, Louis, Tom O, Curt, Guy, Tom, OB Ken.

I didn't do anything of substance in the train shed yesterday. I did however remember to take a picture of the minimal detailing on the roof.

And since churches seem to be a subject for this week, as I posted below to Jaz, I have some. Here are two of them, both currently in unfinished areas.

Guy - I need a day or two to find some pictures of the extra things that I do with ground throws in my extensive unfiled archive.
Love the recent pictures of the mule deer.
Sherrel - Yep! These Medallion signature guarantees can be really tricky as I have learned in my short exposure to them. I really think the $50 in his bank did the trick for me!
I am praying that MIL can fight it through until Sunday for Kate and her sister's sake.
Jaz - I do have three churches on the layout, but none of them are in areas that are completed yet. None as elegant as yours however.
Dave - My small pond of about a quarter acre, completely dries out mainly in the summer, but this year it was empty until February. I often wonder where the frogs and turtles actually go when it is dry. They always reappear when the water returns?
"bloated bureaucracy" is a redundancy.
Tom O - Never say never!
I agree that a bank is more at home among the MR structures than a church.

Earth Day today. Everyone have a great day.
Ah the reason I have no pictures of the others is because I am in the same boat, and as for elegant yours are kits which you personalise, mine are resin models which I may or may not touch up a little.Iove your bridal couple on the second church.I’ll see about taking some snaps.

I usually photograph the prettier more developed areas but there are plenty that need a lot of work

as you can see loads of work required, check the vehicles

then a close up can disguise the lack, the angle of your photographs can take advantage

all you have here is is two side by side resin buildings as bought, and two model vehicles as bought, tightly packed, al ow angle and a bit of blur to the road with the focus on the shop front taking every advantage I can pull.
No modelling here, just smoke and mirrors.

Hey James, You prolly have the COVID light variant that's currently going around. I don't know if that carries the Pneumonia with it, but if ya do catch it, that's the part that will slow ya down.
I caught the roid a year ago. Being 72, several of my friends seemed to be giving me my last rites. It seemed pretty light so I continued my activity but stayed isolated. Suddenly the Viral Pneumonia set in and I had to sit things out for a few days while it ran its course. Like you said, chicken soup is the cure, lots of TV. I found I couldn't sleep laying down so I sat in my easy chair and cat napped through the night. Had to get an Rx to help with that. Suddenly, the fever broke and I had no excuse for bein a slacker.

I have no intention of slowing down if I can help it. I kinda take the attitude to keep moving in moderation and sweat it out as well. Hydration seems to be the key with fruits that pack some antioxidants. Since pineapple one of my favs I have been chowing on that with watermelon in the mix. I am not much for laying around as I go nuts. I usually keep going until my body says rest then I take a break or nap. I will keep ya'll posted as the days progress....

Thanks for all ya'll thoughts and comments!

Ok I have to ask..... How did you get it then. 🙃😷
Beats the heck out of me....

I could have gotten it from someone at Wally world last week? I did my once a month run there to get supplies. I dunno man I cannot say really because I am usually 100% by myself. I tend to stay away from city folk and such. Oh well I am confident that I will bounce back quickly.

I called my doctor to inform him and he was surprised as he knows me and my life style. He says do what you do best and stay hydrated. I told him I would. I asked if I should consider a booster he said no not at this time and maybe later down the road. He says let my body run it course. I said "will do!" He told me if I had any signs of chest pain or dificulty breathing to call him and go to ER...... ER? I ain't doing that hell no......

I'm a firm believer that that sanitizing your hands is more important than the mask. Your hands touch everything including taking on and off your mask. Both are good but the hands are the most important.

Good evening y'all. 54°, and cloudy, going to 43° overnight. Was 72°, this afternoon. I finally managed to rake up four bags of leaves, which, hopefully, I will take over to the dump tomorrow morning. There are many more to rake up than I have energy for at one time. I'm going to do a similar amount each day until they are gone. Damn, I miss my truck!

Sherrel: I'm sorry that your MIL's life's journey is coming near to its end. Hopefully she will linger until your spousal unit returns...The Lord has His own schedule, eh? Prayers of comfort for you and yours at this sad time.

James: Happens to the best of us. Hope it remains mild. Take care and stay hydrated. Truthfully, there is no way to pinpoint how you may have contracted this. Wierdist disease I have ever encountered. Sidebar; The Oaks are starting to blossom, and it won't be long until the pollen starts dropping. That in itself causes high danger of lung problems for me...

No work on the layout today, Tomorrow, I may cut out the plywood for the engine terminal . Once that is in place I can finish the last of the track build.

Guy Lafluer passed away today. Like Mike Bossy who passed earlier in the week, his death was attributed to Lung Cancer. These were two of the hockey greats of old, that kindled my interest in the sport.

Well guys, it looks like my April 30 open house may be in jeopardy.

The PSX circuit breaker that controls the main line appears to have failed; no lights at all, completely dead. I'll troubleshoot it some more in the morning, when I'll hopefully have gotten some rest. Can't even deal with it at the moment. If I'm unable to get this thing functioning or replaced before Tuesday, I'll have no choice but to cancel the open house. Can't have an open house without running trains!

James - bummer about the covid, take good care of yourself!

Fortunately, at the time, the local "store" of the Toronto Dominion Bank, was still staffed by competent bankers who knew their customers. No problem and no fee...BTW, the huge payout for this policy $4,000.
Joe- t’would that be the former Fleet or Commerce?
Dave/Willie- I don’t think Victoria has a whole lotta secrets left.
Sherrill- sorry to her about MIL’s impending passing. Maybe she will hang on long enough for Kate & her sister get get there. I know when my Dad passed away, he waited for my niece to get there to say goodbye. She was 6 & the only one of the grandchildren old enough to understand what was going on. She said that it meant that “Pop Pop won’t be hurting anymore”.
James- I, too, tested positive for the scourge. Started with a sore throat, so I stayed home from work on Thursday. I then developed chest congestion, fever, chills & a cough. I went yo the clinic when MOH got done work. They ran strep, flu & Covid cultures, breathing treatment & a chest X-ray. Then told me that strep & Pneumonia were negative, but they would not have flu & COVID results til this morning. They called & told me negative for flu but positive for COVID. I have to quarantine for 5 days & then can go back to work(with a mask for 5 days) if I’m asymptotic by day 5, otherwise another 5 days of quarantine.

No lights, no power at all. Sounds more like a wire came loose somewhere. Simple fix.
