Due to circumstances beyond my control, the previous PIR-fect layout is no more, so I'm starting a new layout using a supposedly modular design, not that description fits I don't think, but here goes anyway.
Layout Plan (Ignore colour coding, I got bored)
Layout Size 9" x 5' (Split into 2 x 4'6" X 5' modules.
Lumber to be used 2" X 3" for framework
Legs will 6 X 2" x 2" x 35"
Layout board 6mm Plywood.
We rarely find Plywood in the UK larger than 8' x 5' unless it's a special order, and that makes it expensive, so the board will be made of
2 x 5' x 4' sheets
4 x 6" x 2' 6" rips.
Is that a slip at the bottom inner yard lead track heading to the right? If not, it might be worth thinking about. It would give you more routing options.

Top right will be a double crossover .with a single slip in/out the reverse loop
Got a bit more done, finally took the tools for the build out the lock-up.
Next up will be a mug of tea.
OMG!!!! Now I really will have to start my build.

Really, I'm dreading it, but I found some tools that should at least make sure it's square.
WOW, been a while, so here's a little update so far.
As I've used angle brackets to reinforce the corners I need to make some small cutouts, so timber all marked out ready for the router in the morning, which, considering I've never used one before should be interesting.
I hope it goes better than my attempt at using a Jigsaw.
