TomO's parcel arrived today, to say I'm more than happy with these is an understatement.

Also included were these two Intermountain cars, which Tom kindly added to his parcel.

Thank you Chris! They were fun to do and it was great you allowed me to post pictures here during the process. Most of my clients say no. I am glad you like them in person as much as you did the many pictures I sent. I always am concerned when folks get my weathered cars. Thanks for the opportunity and Enjoy them.

The SCLAIR cars as that sat in the box ready to go really grew on me. But, please hit them with a dull coat finish. Had to wear sunglasses whenever I looked at them, lol…

I intend to, I agree a set of sunglasses when looking at them definitely helps, I have those two plus one other and the three CN cars I to dull coat, hopefully over this weekend.

As for you posting your work on the forum, it's a no brainer, you have always done excellent work and sometime someone else will see something I missed, the rust on the ladders being a case in point.

But thanks again, you have done a brilliant job on all the cars you've done for me, really really happy with all of them.

While I was looking at the monster 2-10-4 Texas in the clearance section, as I ordered it I also came across these.
The ubiquitous F7 in Santa Fe's 2nd paint scheme called "Cat Whiskers" (just like the first version but minus the red stripes). Got an AB set. No idea why they were on the clearance section, but ... I'll take it. The Cat Whiskers scheme began in 1941 with the original FT units and carried through all the way to 1952 when the Cigar Band paint scheme took over. Unless there was some reason for new paint, the units carried the scheme they were delivered with through their life.

This is another BLI Paragon 4, so it will work with the rolling thunder sound system. Detail is almost on par with Genesis and Proto-2000 (I have some Hallmarks in N-scale that still beat it). Note the see through grills (with detail inside), lift rings, and coupler lift bar. The only thing negative things I can say is no mu cables, no speedometer cable, a tiny bit of cream paint seep on the nose masking, I don't like that I can see the "thickness" of the windows, and that the front Santa Fe badge (which I think is a decal) is supposed to be brass, and yellowish paint used falls a bit short. So maybe it is tarnished a bit. Actually some called it gold, so there you go. Different eyes.

The units fall square in the period I am modeling so it wasn't any sort of a reach or "fantasy scheme" for them to fit in. F units ruled the Santa Fe main from 1945 through the arrival of the GP-20 in 1960. So these units are right at home for any layout after 1949 through the 1960s. In that time period one can never have too many F units. I've seen films of trains with 10-12 Fs on the point. And then of course, once again I have a really hard time passing up a good deal. P.S. Another side note. Santa Fe purchased so many FTs they were able to skip the F3s for freight and go straight to the F7s. All F3s on Santa Fe roster were originally for passenger service.

I had one of the new BLI UP FEF 2/3 on order. BLI first shipped it via UPS to my dealer but after a week of no show, my dealer found that UPS was on some kind of a local strike there in Florida. The loco was returned to BLI and they shipped it again via FedEx. Almost a week goes by then FedEx reports it delivered to my dealer but dealer says it's not there. FedEx says yes it was delivered and closed the case.

You mean like those 6 truck loads of parcels fedex was suppose to deliver but were found in a creek bed at the bottom of a gorge?

Yeah - sure they delivered it for you. Word of advise NEVER use or trust fedex!!!

That's the way it goes sometimes - dealers/retailers use certain carriers then you get to select how quick you want your items, and that dictates what shipper is used.

When I bought that EZ-Line, I emailed the company and to my surprise you order from them, they ship it with an invoice, then you send them a cheque or money order ... good old cash on delivery. IF we went back to that, I'll bet my bottom dollar that orders would be processed much quicker and retailers wouldn't deal with sub standard shipping.

As far as "shipping issues" go - AMAZON is no better!

I ordered some steel rulers on the 12th of this month, they were being shipped from a place called Lancaster NY. So far, they have remained in Lancaster NY ever since the 12th. According to tracking info, they did go from one Amazon place in Lancaster to another Amaqzon place in Lancaster and is still there from all accounts.

Why is this appalling, woeful, disgucting? Lancaster NY is exactly a 1 hr 51 minute drive from my front door!!!

Oh and yes Amazon still has what I paid for - they haven't even handed it over to USPS who is going to be the ones who actually deliver the thing. Granted this isn't as bad as fedex claiming they delivered something when they evidently didn't but it just corroborates how apathetic these shipping mobs are - "we have your money, so we don't give a damn" attitude!
