As far as "shipping issues" go - AMAZON is no better!

I ordered some steel rulers on the 12th of this month, they were being shipped from a place called Lancaster NY. So far, they have remained in Lancaster NY ever since the 12th. According to tracking info, they did go from one Amazon place in Lancaster to another Amaqzon place in Lancaster and is still there from all accounts.

Why is this appalling, woeful, disgucting? Lancaster NY is exactly a 1 hr 51 minute drive from my front door!!!

Oh and yes Amazon still has what I paid for - they haven't even handed it over to USPS who is going to be the ones who actually deliver the thing. Granted this isn't as bad as fedex claiming they delivered something when they evidently didn't but it just corroborates how apathetic these shipping mobs are - "we have your money, so we don't give a damn" attitude!
Go into your orders on Amazon and cancel the order, one of two things will happen, you get a refund or it will say the item has been dispatched, their system sometimes has a glitch and says it is still in one place when actually it has been sent.

Only good thing is when you start the process the sender is on a timer to send the item if they haven't already or Amazon automatically deducts the money from their account and gives you a refund.

@Smudge617 Thanks I wasn't aware of that. To be honest, this is only the second time I have4 bought anything through Amazon and I think the stuff comes from Amazon itself - not sure. None the less, I'll see if it arrives this morining - if it doesn't, I'll do what you suggest and I'll owe you a hmm - you don't drink so I'll owe you a nice cuppa ??

You are protected on both Amazon and fleaBay against rogue traders, they don't have a choice really, otherwise no one will use them.

A trick I found was to see where the item is, Amazon often hold items in their own warehouses, as this hasn't moved it's unlikely, if they have it then your pretty much guaranteed delivery on the day they say.

I don't buy much from Amazon, I can usually find the same item on fleaBay cheaper if I'm willing to wait.

Also, never use a debit card or pay directly from your bank account, always use a credit card or PayPal, then your double covered if the item doesn't arrive.

99% of the time I buy from only one of (maybe) three retailers who I have dealt with for years and trust. Never bought anything from evilbay and never will. Anyway @Smudge617, it was as you said - amazons tracking was not exactly accurate - it did turn up with some other stuff this morning, so now I have my 3 various sized steel rulers

So here is what I received this morning:

Isn't it funny how people can have shipping issues with a vendor, and some never have any issues. I have never or rarely) had an Amazon shipment problem but have heard many have.

Ive had tons of issues with FedEx and UPS.

The best shipping example i have is:

DHL. I ordered several times from Hatton's (Peco products mainly) It goes from Hatton's to Heathrow then Chicago then to me.
72 hours from the UK to me. Pretty efficient!

@migalyto

I think it depends on where you are. Where I am, USPS is the most reliable, followed by UPS then fedex (if your game enough) then DOMESTIC DHL which is deplorable.

DHL International (from Hattons) is brilliant! Like you I have had things delivered to me by DHL from Hattons in exactly 3 days to the minute, yet some places here can't even process orders in that time, let alone ship and/or deliver them

Guess who handles Amazon packages when their drivers are overloaded? Yup UPS, FedX. When Amazon dumped FedX all kinds of weird crap happened. I actually got refunded on an item that was delivered on the front porch. Got the refund 2 days after the wife opened it and check it out to make sure shipping did not cause trouble. Over the years we picked up from both UPS and FedX - what a cluster. Nothing was even close to being 'packed' in the box. Most just thrown into a BIG pile. Started from the front of the trailer up to the roof, then angled down to the back. Not to bad if you have a small delievery vehicle - 53 footer was another story. It is even worse during Christmas. Oh, and we emailed Amazon telling them that we did indeed receive the package - they didn't care; so we got a free what ever it was.

Always the way, you think you know where it is, but it isn't. Royal Mail tracking is the same, I've a parcel in transit, but it's been delivered, the box TomO sent had a big label on it to say "Customs Duty Payable" "Not To Be Delivered until Paid", but I've got the box as you know, I'm still waiting for the letter to say I have to pay Custom's Duty:)

I buy a lot of stuff online, from eBay, Amazon and hobby stores, and have had very few delivery problems.

In the UK we have a couple of poor couriers - Evri and Yodel. I actively avoid using a store or seller who uses either of them as its almost guaranteed that you wont get the package, or it will be badly damaged

I don't get worked up about how long something takes to get shipped out and delivered to me, after all what I'm ordering is just for my hobbies. I think we have created a perfect storm for ourselves, we have everything available at our fingertips, and a quick turnaround time is offered and expected these days, yet the more people who order online, the more packages there are box up, send out and get delivered.

I fondly remember the days of seeing the latest advert in a monthly magazine and sending off a cheque for the latest model in the hope it would still be in stock and waiting for the box to arrive a few weeks later! Wouldn't want to go back to those days however!

Ah yes. remember the disclaimer at the bottom Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery!

Almost always never took that long.

Have to admit, Yodel in my area are ok, but Evri (Hermes) are a disaster, always leaving stuff behind our rubbish bins, even when you give them the door entry code to leave it inside, I'm surprised I've had so little stolen, but I always get my refund, even tho they say it was delivered and have a picture of the delivery, my response is always the same, "You were given the door entry code to deliver the package inside the building not outside, and now it's been stolen and you are responsible as your courier failed to correctly deliver the package as instructed"

Not enough people seem to want to do that any more - stand up for their rights. One of the reasons (I think) that companies get away with what they do - they exploit peoples apathy.
