Very nice, you intending to weather these ?
Yes sir. I am going to weather the trucks and wheels, this afternoon. I have already tuned the trucks and cleaned both the wheels and trucks. They are drying. I will then clear coat the cars with the Army Painter clear matte finish I got last week. Then they will sit until we come home. I purchased these for me, but as we know they won’t stay here very long. When I get to the weathering because the build dates are 2013 it will be light to medium. The price on 3 of the cars (CP, BNSF) was $22 each and the 2 yellow TBOX cars were $26 each on Saturday. Shipping was $2.50 per car, best deal I could find.

I originally ordered from Enginehouse Services over $100 which would have got me free shipping but they texted no TBOX yellow cars. So I cancelled with them.

I ordered last night more of the NATX tank cars you have. Too bad they only have 3 numbers for these cars. One of the neighbors asked if I would weather them like yours for his kid. Prices are up, $36 per car includes the shipping.

And some graffiti as well. I hope!

Will be nice to see how these cars of your's turn out, pity about Enginehouse, but sure you'll find another good deal with them later. It's a pity they only have the NATX cars with the three numbers, but I suppose you could always re-number them if you felt the need to.

The issue I have with Enginehouse is their website. IMO it sucks. But I keep trying.

Changing numbers, nope not something I am very good at and honestly I have no plans to improve. I do not enjoy working with decals. I have the right amount of tanks cars I use or will use again on my layout. I now buy tank cars to weather for clients. If they want numbers changed they need to do it before I get it.

I will post these when done, probably in April

There maybe some graffiti. I have a client’s 16 yr. old granddaughter who got in trouble with the law that we are waiting an answer on. She lives in my area and goes to high school here in town. She did a couple sample pieces for me that were beautiful on a couple auto racks. But we are waiting for the court to review our request. If she can do it, I won’t have to.

These are build dates of 2013 and later, so some graffiti is needed

Stopped by Hobby Lobby today while out doing errands. Picked up a can of Dullcote, and a four pack of paint pallets.

I found Enginehouse's website quite easy, Microscale I really don't like and usually will look for Microscale decals on someone else's website if I really want their stuff, simply because I don't like being forced to buy $20 of decals when I only need a $7 sheet, plus another $20 postage when I know somewhere like K4 will send me a sheet of decals for $2.95

I wouldn't mind changing the numbers if I ever felt the need to, but I'm really not bothered if I have duplicate numbers.

You have a lot of painting and decaling to do just for a display model. 🤣

Tom

this unit will remain as is with a little weathering. I will not be doing anything else to it other than changing the couplers to Kadee. If I decide to make a change it would be to weather it and patch it the UP numbers. For now it stays as is. I reviewed a lot of pics for this unit.

I will run this unit in my MOW train of ballast hoppers with 2 Union Pacific Dash 8 units.

What browser do you use? I switched from Safari where the website was practically unusable to Firefox on IPadPro. Better but still not good. I can save much $ with free shipping

I love the unit the way you got it.

If I could handle the decal work I‘d love that CN scheme here on the layout.

I found a little more information on the unit in the paint scheme you like. You will have to scroll down to see the detailed pictures of the unit etc. Click on the link below.

Not a bad link for additional CN information

I use Google, tried other's Firefox and Safari, just didn't like them, (and don't get me started on Microsoft Bing) Google is still the most popular web browser around so most sites are optimised for it.

Thanks. I guess I will try Google just because even with Wisconsin tax included when the shipping costs are zero I still will save money, lots for the amount of stuff I buy

Hope this one goes a bit better than the last for you mate - it looks like a nice kit!
The first one has gone ok, strangely I found that building the storage tank the hardest, simply because there are a lot of detail to add and apart from the ladders there's lot's of sticky out thingy's that I'm not quite sure where they they fit, and the diagram wasn't much help, anyway, its done, mounted it on a piece of styrene for ease of moving, so just waiting for the glue to dry and I can take a photo.

I'll wait to see how the placement goes on the layout first before I start this one, may not have enough room, if not it'll keep for later
