Good Morning y'all!
It is a lovely Friday morning for me this week.
After being gone for almost two weeks, I had to take off this Friday off to cut grass, clean up and winterize the pool.

Saturday will start our club's annual train display at McWane Science Center in Birmingham. We will try to keep one N scale, three HO scale, one O scale and one G scale layouts running until January 3rd. Mcwane's staff has three other layouts to maintain, with the Wrecking crew as "consultants".

McWane has requested we apppear in costume on the weekends. We dress as engineers, firemen and conductors. It is lots of fun talking with the guests and having pictures made with 3 year old little girls (and a few 23 year olds, too).

Yes, I have my official "dirty old man" certificate!:o

By Jan. 3rd, I'll be ready to back off model trains for a couple weeks. And ready to do it again next year!

Tom- I really admire your involvement in your children's activities. It is a hassle at times, but the memories are priceless.

Larry- It sounds as if you have "come home" at the paint store. But I appreciate you going back to work so much. We need more help in paying for all the government bailouts.
We need Chris to be really successful with his new business to take some of the financial strain off the rest of us! :D

Sandy- Is all the white stuff in your pictures beach sand? It looks like the beach at Gulf Shores, Alabama, without the water!

Jeffry- Glad you are taking the doctor's advise to heart and continuing to improve your health. You might not have survived this type infection 25 years ago.
Have to go for now, enjoy your day!

Mikey, What strain? Only strain youz got's is getting off the couch and walking over to the dinner table! and that ain't much! hehehehehehehehehehe.......LOL!

good morning, its SNOWING.

or it was.

ugh.
not even trying to catch up with you guys.

its been crazy busy here, horses in for training, {who'ld a thought. the Amish and mennonites are sending ME horses for breaking }.
I lost my barn cat last week, she was hit by a car. :(

the next day, I was coming home from grocery shopping, and nearly hit a kitten. of course, she's now curled up in my lap..

so. Christmas is coming, and this year my gift to myself is, to FINALLY START MY" LAY-OUT.

I have the room.

I have the PLAN.

now, to get the materials to build the platform. one thing at a time.

is it possible, or recommended, or would it be completely not the thing to do, to take a bunch of work benches and connect them all in a U shape? I have room to work on both sides. and could make the centre part of the U twice the width. so,
say,.... 4' wide down the long sides, 8' wide on the bottom short end?

I want a lake or some sort of water feature eventually on the inside of the short side.

If I just get the work surface done this winter, I'll be happy.

please don't ask what line, what era, etc. I have NO idea. :D

Guys here's a rough draft of the new box b with out the Angels leap bridge in it. It's not set in stone yet but here is one possibility.....
picture.php

Any other Ideas? And no I'm not building another bridge!

LTF You have the mennonites/Amish getting you to "break" their horses---you're doing something right!! They respect your work!:):)---the layout base sounds workable----just make sure you can get wiring done underneath;)

Chris Looks like it would be workable.;) Is that straight up/down?--I'd be more into a steep slope rather than vertical cliff face---

A few more odd bits

Middle pic is a part of Hogg's Mill in Thamesford ON---there is a building structure in amongst those trees!!

BTW--see how furry my close ups can get still? ------yeeesh!!

You mean the, 'Wonderful Foot Dr. of OZ?" Remember Never mind the guy behind the curtin!ehehehehehehehe

My Bachmann order of 3 40' tank cars has been filled by H & R Trains in Pinellas Park, Florida. It's being delivered by FedEx and should be here in a week.

Visit with the foot doc went well. The surgical incision is healing well and has no deep spots. I go back to see him again Monday morning. The Home Health nurse comes tomorrow.

yay for a good Dr.s visit.

i'm on a baking roll. {gaghgghhghg, bad pun. }

seriously. Christmas is coming, so I've started baking. and you know what I found? that'd i'ld forgotten about?

TRAIN SHAPED COOKIE CUTTERS.

I'll take pictures when I make them. won't be for a few weeks yet, though.

Chris and I have another name for that hobby shop:
"Higher-'N-Retail".
It's good to hear the foot is healing up well. Any word yet when you can start using it again? Too soon to tell?

Nice thing is I bought them straight through Bachmann so they had to give them up for the price listed on Bachmann's site.

I can stand on it now but I can't flex it very much. In other words, no squatting. So it'll still be a little while before I can go under the layout again.

We got back from the hospital not too long ago. Everything went well, but my boy is not feeling so hot. His tummy is pretty tender, and of course his knees are hurting, but he can walk with a walker (not too far, but it's all good). Thanks for the prayers everyone! We'll know if it's a success in 3-4 months. Everyone around here is pretty drained for know, but........LET THE HEALING BEGIN!

there's snow on the ground. sigh.

Don and Alice, I like to refur to them as plastic people! Cause they are so stiff, up tight, and stuck up! Ain't much good for anything but taking up space........My LHS a few blocks from my place is much the same way.....very stuck up!
Terry, that last show we attend was the funniest thing! Holy crap, I'll never forget it! Remember how three tiny N scale layouts were held responsible for the tents black outs!:D:eek::p ROFLMAO\\

Terry, don't forget about..........Happy Go Broken!(That's Happy Hobbo)

Good morning. It's 49 and clear. The high will be in the mid 70's and there will be clouds.

Today the Home Health nurse will be coming around about 1 pm to change the dressings on my foot and my iv line then about 5 - 6 pm my sister and I will be going to the local steak house for dinner. Other than that there's not much going on in my world today, except, for a project I'm working on. It's an Athearn GP50 BB body on an Athearn GP38-2 BB frame. Talk about a close match! The result will be what I'll be categorizing as a GP42X. I am however missing a crucial part, that being a dynamic brake housing. I have a couple of housings laying around. One is for a GP38 and lacks dynamics and the other is from an old SD40 and has 2 DB fans. I lost the original DB housing in an experiment with some paint stripper. It just kinda dissolved away to nothing. The loco will be mated tail to tail with a GP38-2 that has no dynamics and I want the GP42X to have Dynamics. I can trim the SD40 DB housing to fit but it's gonna look a bit strange on a 4 axle loco and I'd much rather have the GP50 DB cover on it. If anyone has an Athearn GP50 dynamic brake housing they don't need please let me know. I sure could make use of it.

Good morning folks

It was 40 F with a chilly wind this morning. High will be 50 F and sunny.

We had to take one of cats to the vet for a regular check-up last night. Needless to say he was not happy. Trying to get an unhappy 13 pound part Maine Coon cat into a cat carrier can be a trying experience. He is fine and healthy and got a couple of shots which made him even more unhappy.

We spent some time last night packing for my son’s weekend Boy Scout camping trip. He and I will be gone from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. Supposedly other than be cold tonight the weather is supposed to be nice.

Cough is mostly gone. Of course this morning I had a big allergy attack. I had the cough, sneezing, and watery eyes until the Zertec kicked in.

I hope everybody has a good day.
