"Guess I had better start work before I join Chris filing for benefits".
I would love to be able to join Chris for filing unemployment but my claim was denied last May and I never filed an appeal because my nerves would not have withstood all the BS you have to go thru. My overall mental and physical health are far more important then money.

Hey all you Hoosiers, my cuz in Mt. Vernon sent me this: This was found in Scott Co IN(Scottsburg) sometime this summer/fall. Don't know the validity, but it is plenty big...no matter where. The photo looks like a closed up military base.

Quote: "A 97 lb. Eastern Diamondback was found this morning slithering down Blocher Road with Wallace Zollman in hot pursuit. When he caught up with it and realized the size, he quickly called in the Johnson Township Fire Dept. The Chief said it’s the largest rattlesnake ever captured in Indiana. You probably made everyone's summer a bit safer stated a State Trooper who was called to the scene. Snakes of this size prefer to hang around garages, barns and aboveground pools as those seem to attract rodents and such. The Chief & local animal officials would not be surprised to come across yet another snake as they hibernate together to maintain core body temperature places."

Brrrrrrrrrrrr!

Carey, if you will buy the gas we can take Bob's boat down to Mobile and back...GREAT FUN! Might even invite Chris...uh, on second thought: may not be a good idea.LOL :D :D

You get ANACONDAS there? In Florida??---EEEKK!!!:eek::eek::eek:

BTW---like the brochures---they will get the business--they're catchy!!;):):)

All, just woke up. We made it. We radio'd ahead to the marina that we were close and he said to take it easy as they had to move a boat to accommodate us. So we slowed down even more as the river is a "no wake zone" anyway. Any slower and we would have been going backwards. 20 minutes later and the other boat still wasn't moved. So we sat in the channel for another 30 minutes waiting for them to move the boat.

We load it onto the hydraulic lift trailer in the morning, then yank it out of the water. I was going to stay and winterize it, but the marina owner said that they do it as part of the haul out and storage fee. I went ahead and dumped my fresh water tank anyway and went over to the pump out station for the sewage and gray water. I'll open the engine cooling water valves after the boat is out of the water.

Once we got to the dock, we ordered pizza for a local Ma and Pa shop. Reminded me of a Godfather's pizza. Tons of goo and meats and toppings. Delicious.

Angela showed up about two hours later. Seems a semi tractor-trailer went off of the road. The trailer split open and there were boxes of canned goods all over the road blocking traffic. The driver gave here 6-cases of can goods since they cannot be sold after being involved in a wreck. So, I have 6-cases of various canned goods now. Looks like we have peaches, tomatoes, mixed veggies, applesauce, green beans, and peas to last us a while.

I don't feel quite as bad about my little tumble. My nephew stepped out onto the deck and was ankles over head. He's a pretty big boy, goes about 260# and he made this hilarious sound like OOOOOMMMPH!!! when he hit. He just looked up at me and laughed. He knew what I was thinking as he laughed when I hit the deck. But, the look on his face on the way down was classic.

Jim, I couldn't open the "zip" file on those pictures. That guy has quite a collection just from the first set of photos I saw. I wouldn't mind having a couple of the less pricier ones. No way do I need a $500 structure on my layout. What program did you use to open the files? I may have to wait until I get home to the home computer to open them.

Well, time to brew another pot of coffee. I fell asleep around 8 o'clock and I doubt that i'll get back to sleep. Guess I'll just trudge around the internet, maybe scope out eBay. Haven't been able to visit them for a couple of days. See what items I can't live without.

I'll check back in later.

Bob

Chris...I just read (a creepy) article on Drudge today about the large, large
snake population in FL and how snakes that are not indigenous (sp) to the US are killing the natural wildlife. Pythons, Anacondas and Constrictors are out of control. EWWWW!!!!

Thank God snakes and creatures like that doesn't scare me......People do more so! I'd trust a 14 foot Anaconda before I trusts the girl in the drive thru at the Burger King getting my order right!:p:) Let me look a few years back a Dead 12' long python washed ashore at a lake some where here in florida. It died cause it tried to eat a 6' gator. I'll try to find the news story. My son has 2 Cuban Tree frog he caught here at the house. He put them with his Fire belly toad. One of the cuban tree frogs ATE HIM! It truely is a, "FROG EAT FROG WORLD!"

If you don't like bugs and reptiles or any thing that can eat you............Don't live in FLORIDUH! The only place where the wild life is the second deadlest thing next to our roads!

This was on the news wednesday: http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/scitech/Foreign_Pythons_and_Anacondas_Threaten_US_05203562

Good morning.

It's 76 and cloudy. The high will be in the upper 80's and there's a chance of rain.

Not much happening today other than a visit to the foot docs office this afternoon to get a new set of X-rays done. My parents will be getting back home today after their visit to my younger sister in Pennsylvania. Knowing them my mother will probably shut herself in for a couple of days while my father starts right back to usual schedule.

Good morning folks

It was a chilly 49 F this morning as I hit the dark highways. High will be 47 F (?) with rain. Not only do we have rain we will have two Nor’easters between now and Sunday night.

I did not make it to the forums yesterday. It was just one of those crazy days. I walked into a firestorm at the office and things went downhill from there.

My daughter had a volleyball game in which they won their first match of the season. They are now 1-3. Their coach is not so much worried about as preparing them for high school volleyball. As a result the team has had to change the way it plays. Last year playing on the 7th grade team was like playing recreation volleyball. This year is serious. Even though they lost their first three games you can see them getting better and better. The coach really spent time with my daughter to work on her serve. Last year she was lucky to get 1 in 5 across the net or in bounds. Yesterday she ran off 10 in a row. On the tenth her team failed to return a volley. She spotted her team a 9 to 1 lead. On her second serve she ran off 3 and again the team failed to return a volley. She was responsible for 11 points off her serve in that game. She also had several saves when she was playing the front line.

In the evening we had Cub Scout den meetings and the associated chaos that goes with it.

Due to the Nor’easters my son will not be camping this weekend. Since they are camping near the Jersey Shore they will get the brunt of the storms. He still has a cough and is just finishing his regimen of antibiotics. I do not want him to get sick again. He cannot afford to miss any more school. He will have a chance to go camping again three weeks.

Today is a little less crazy. My daughter has a volleyball game and that is it.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Hello

Got a dull day ahead with the high only going to 4c. No rain/s$%w until sometime tomorrow----maybe:rolleyes:

Got some HD things to do today---hopefully find some time later to do some meditating on some rail work:)

Have a good one

Howdy y'all.

bOB - glad you got safely into port.

Chris - great looking flyers! They certainly grab my attention, they oughta help attract some new lawn business your way.

Had another op session last night, Karl [kbkchooch] was there. The session went basically OK, but it didn't unfold according to the scenario I had painted in my mind. Among the things I discovered was how very little I know about blocking and sorting cars in a yard; so a few of the trains I'd planned to assemble and run never got made up. I'm also facing the task of rearranging my layout in such a way that won't require any duckunders. One of my guests says he can help me come up with a way to accomplish this with a minimal amount of pain.

Oh, and one more thing: About 30 minutes before the op session started, my sister called me and announced that my 83yr-old Aunt Lizzie had passed away in a Boston nursing home after a 2-year battle with alzheimers. I was closer to her than any of my other aunts/uncles [since they all lived overseas], I'm gonna miss her.

Ken, now you can understand why my layout has had so many changes. Nothing like an Op session to slap your face with all the shortcomings. My condolences for your Aunt. Alzheimers is a tragic way to go.

Bizarre story going on right now in my "backyard". A little boy was believed to have been in a helium filled balloon that was airborn from Larimer county through Weld county and into Adams county. I live in the Weld county side of Brighton which is divided into Weld & Adams. The 'balloon' finally came to rest in a field in basically my backyard. No little guy on board! Hope they find him soon.

Sandy

Ken...I am sorry to hear about your Aunt Lizzie. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease and is certainly no respector of persons. My sympathies to you and your family.

Chris...We have rattlesnakes here in Colorado, but I have only seen a few in my lifetime. Lots of bull snakes and garter snakes...but nary an anaconda or a constrictor OR a python. EWWWWWW!!! Almost stepped on a bull snake last summer while on a country road near my house. That was enough for me! Had it been a python or such, I'd not be here today!

Still watching the balloon story. Sure hope it turns out happy.

Sandy
