Jeffrey, I'm glad to hear you are following the doctor's orders this time. I'm assuming your eyesight is starting to come back?
Sandy, I was looking at the weather for Denver this morning and remembering why I turned down a job offer there once. Snow and 17 degrees in October is not my idea of fun. Looks like you should be back up to 60 by Tuesday though. Weather that changeable gets my arthritis and alergies all riled up.
Barry, the National Hurricane Center has been trying to convince people it has the right software for hurricane prediction, it just needs about $200 million more to get out of the beta stage. They've been saying that since 2004 and getting the money and their forecasts continue to become more inaccurate. This year, Congress cut them back to $172 million and you'd think the world was going to end to hear the folks at the NHC moaning about it. The most reliable hurricane model, by far, in the past five years, is the Canadian model, which was developed by a bunch of grad students in Toronto for a cost about $50,000.

Of course, they were trying to be scientists, not build a political empire.
Chris, good example about how money is never spent in the right place. If the government subsidized the cost of conversion to natural gas for everything from power plants to lawn mowers, we'd cut our carbon emmisions in half in a couple of years with no new technology needed and an almost unlimted supply of Nat gas here and in our neighbors to the north, who still like us and are unlikey to fly planes into tall buildings.

Biodiesel make no sense, since it requires about the same amount of energy to produce as it provides for combustion.
Bob, I can imagine how physically and emotionally draining it is going through all your damaged models. I sure hope you can salvage some of them, especially those with some meaning to you.
Larry, cutting 15 sheets and then dragging them up to an attic? They would have had to call an ambulance for me.
We got no rain at all today even though the forecast was for a 100% chance of rain. When the weather guessers can get tomorrow's weather consistently right, I'll be happy to listen to the rest of their wacky theories. I MU'd an MP15AC and an SW1500 tonight for the first time and the combination ran well. I can't for the life of me figure out how to MU them cab to cab, e.g. , one running forwards and one running backwards. I'm using a Digitrax DSC 50. If anyone has some helpful hints, I'd be most grateful.
