Jeff, glad all went well!:) Now stay off your feet, don't make me come up there! :):):)

Jim, O.K. got ya Global Climate Change;) I.E. Normal Global Weather Cycle!:D Weatherman jim says, I'll get ran......we shall see............:p:) Hope your right!

Chris - I've got a camera, you pick the tree and let me know the time and place! :D

Gotta take my 11yr-old to soccer this morning, then I'm hoping to swing by the GSMTS in Timonium for awhile and meet up with a fellow forum member from VA, railbuilderDhD. We're planning to buy a 100lb bag of Black Beauty coal from a local rental place, and split it 50-50.

Larry that deck looks fantastic, wish I had that kind of skill!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. This latest surgery hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for the hobby in the least though it has seriously curtailed my activities. I have to go back and see the doc on Monday so he can check to see that the foot is healing properly. I also have an appointment to see my primary care provider on Wednesday. No rest for the wicked eh? The temp here is around 60 and the high will reach about 70. There is of course a chance of rain. The joys of being in a state that averages 60+ inches of rainfall a year.

I don't know about that. The last time I hugged a tree, some guys in white coats and a rubber-lined van started chasing me...

Jeffery, do you have one of the train simulators? Either MSTS or Trainz? You could prop your feet up and push keys on the computer, and still play with trains until you get around again. Those two programs were lifesavers when I was stuck in a chair at home.:)

Nope. Don't have either one.

Morning everyone.

Barry, have fun at the seminar. Just because you'll be inside all day, I'm sure it will stop raining and the sun will come out. :)

Chris, I guess you get added to this month's unemployment numbers, which are supposed to improve over last month. Seems hard to believe with the number of people I know who got laid off just this month. You can't get the Nobel Peace Prize because you keep contributing to global war...uhh.. climate change with all that carbon you spew into the air from those lawnmowers. You need to find one powered by solar panels...or maybe a big windmill. That would look good hanging off the back of your new husky.

Ken, I would think 50 pounds of coal should fill a few of your hoppers. :D

Jeffrey, it's got to be tough spending most of your time in a doctors office or the hospital. :( Now might be a good time to do things like buiold and paint structure kits, which you can at least do sitting down.

No rain last night and the "big" cold front that was supposed to give us rain today is falling apart as I type. One of the nitwit weather guys on TV said we would get three inches of rain today. If we're lucky, we will get three drops. :) The NHC has finally given up on 92L since it's now 200 miles inland. Nothing else happening in the tropical Atlantic.

Hello to all those in the place. I just happen to be up getting dinner together and decided to pop in and say hi. Foot seems to be healing nicely but since I can't see it I can't really tell. The doc said not to unwrap it unless it's totally necessary until he can look at it again on Monday. I'm following his instructions to the letter and I'm also keeping up the home iv program of antibiotics. Fortunately that's only once a day. You guys have a great day.

Hey All...

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr! It's freakin' cold for October! It was 18F when I left for church this AM. It's nearly that right now. AND we had snow. My feet are freezing! I need to get some warm slippers out and actually put them on!

Jeffrey...hopefully this will be that last surgery you will need. Are your eyes getting better, as well?

Bob...that chili shounded great! Especially right now.

Even the Rockies had to postpone their playoff game against Philly, scheduled for this evening in Denver. Too cold. I remember being at a Rockies game at Mile High Stadium when the snowing was blowing so hard that I could barely see the field. They payed that game to the finish.

Chris...cool mower! You'll have so many mowing jobs that you'll hafta hire someone to help!

Rex...I am glad you had a fun camping trip. I haven't been camping in so long. Maybe next year I'll give it a try again.

Jim...I'd be MORE than happy to send some snow your way! Had to break out the winter coat and mittens this morning. Ugh!

Have a great evening!

Sandy

Good Evening--

Got that seminar done now we do church stuff tomorrow. 2 committee meetings after the service---meals provided----thank goodness this only happens once in awhile---:rolleyes::):)

Jim The NHS must have people prone to issues around estimation? This has been an odd year for disintegrating weather systems!:rolleyes:

Jeff You get the 60+inches of rain---Jim gets the 20 inch line---

Anyways got some silly paperwork to catch up on----see ya inna bit;)

Yes, I'm one of over 1,000,000 Million unemployeed Floridians! As for Gobal what ever and the nobel prize.......I off set my carbon foot print every time I plant a plant or a tree for a customer,:D Problem solved! As for mower fuel I have a choice between bio diesel or LP gas if I went that route! But bio fuel and lp gas mowers you can add $5k to the price:mad::( Not including the extra fuel cost!:mad::mad: Now can I Have my Nobel Prize?

Hey All...

Chris...cool mower! You'll have so many mowing jobs that you'll hafta hire someone to help!

Yes, If the business takes off I'll hire Jeff! "The Vato(Dude) works until his feet fall off!";);) :)

Honestly, jeff take it easy and stay off your feet;):) As for train games I like my Railroad tycoon II!

18 F? !!!!!!!!!!!! That is cold Sandy. Hopefully, hubby likes to snuggle on nights like that. In our house, Angela is like a lizard. She has to have the t-stat around 80 F. Me, gimme a cool bedroom and warm blankets and I'm good to go. And she hates snugglin', but I'm glad the dogs do. The little female Boston Terrier, Hannah, is a "snuggler par excellance", and Otis, the male, likes to sleep under the blanket as long as his head sticks out. The Weimy, well, he doesn't like the bed, though a couple of time last winter, he broke down and slept on the foot of the bed under his blanket.

Hannah and Heimy(pronounced HI-me, that's right, Heimy the Weimy) are both fireplace dogs. They have their spots right in front of the hearth. Odd seeing a 17# Boston and a 130# Weimariner sleeping in front of the fire snugglin' like they do. But, all three are best buddies and would be lost without any one of them being in the group.

What was for supper, Jeffrey? We had ham, mashed 'taters, gravy, green beans, and fresh baked bread. Then, Angela served up one of her mean peach cakes. She bakes it so tht it is diabetic friendly, though not 100%. I can eat two pieces without causing the "freak meter" to go gonzo.

Been doin' the inventory thing for the trains. I'm so sick of lookin' at this stuff. About 1/3 of the way trough it all. For those who are counting, that's 6-boxes done. Finding more stuff I might take a chance on repairing. Sadly, I think my Crescent steam engine, a Rivarossi 2-6-2 Pacific may have to be put down. It's a mess. Still, it went into the "Let's try and save it" box. The grandkids gave it to me for Christmas about 5 years ago, so I have to at least try to repair it.

Well, time for another piece of cake and a cup of hot coffee. Later.

Bob

Went back to Danville IN and helped my SIL finish putting the flooring in his garage attic. Got all of the insulation in and then put up fifteen sheets of 1/2" OSB. No wonder I am so tired, we started at 11AM and I got home at 8:45PM. We could not get any full sheets up the attic hole so we had to cut each and every sheet. I think we might have wore out the new saw blade he got when he bought his new skill saw.

Jeffrey, I'm glad to hear you are following the doctor's orders this time. I'm assuming your eyesight is starting to come back?

Sandy, I was looking at the weather for Denver this morning and remembering why I turned down a job offer there once. Snow and 17 degrees in October is not my idea of fun. Looks like you should be back up to 60 by Tuesday though. Weather that changeable gets my arthritis and alergies all riled up.

Barry, the National Hurricane Center has been trying to convince people it has the right software for hurricane prediction, it just needs about $200 million more to get out of the beta stage. They've been saying that since 2004 and getting the money and their forecasts continue to become more inaccurate. This year, Congress cut them back to $172 million and you'd think the world was going to end to hear the folks at the NHC moaning about it. The most reliable hurricane model, by far, in the past five years, is the Canadian model, which was developed by a bunch of grad students in Toronto for a cost about $50,000. Of course, they were trying to be scientists, not build a political empire.

Chris, good example about how money is never spent in the right place. If the government subsidized the cost of conversion to natural gas for everything from power plants to lawn mowers, we'd cut our carbon emmisions in half in a couple of years with no new technology needed and an almost unlimted supply of Nat gas here and in our neighbors to the north, who still like us and are unlikey to fly planes into tall buildings. Biodiesel make no sense, since it requires about the same amount of energy to produce as it provides for combustion.

Bob, I can imagine how physically and emotionally draining it is going through all your damaged models. I sure hope you can salvage some of them, especially those with some meaning to you.

Larry, cutting 15 sheets and then dragging them up to an attic? They would have had to call an ambulance for me.

We got no rain at all today even though the forecast was for a 100% chance of rain. When the weather guessers can get tomorrow's weather consistently right, I'll be happy to listen to the rest of their wacky theories. I MU'd an MP15AC and an SW1500 tonight for the first time and the combination ran well. I can't for the life of me figure out how to MU them cab to cab, e.g. , one running forwards and one running backwards. I'm using a Digitrax DSC 50. If anyone has some helpful hints, I'd be most grateful.

jim,
Another downer on LP fired Mowers weight! Average ZTR weighs in at 1200#'S and up! Add another 200+#'s For the mowers tanks and don't forget extra LP tanks rolling around in the back of the truck for refueling! All this extra weight cost more to pull around! One reason I try to buy smaller lighter mowers Takes less fuel to move them from place to place!

Good Morning from Itscolduphereville!!

We're seeing sun today with increasing cloud in the evening and a high of 8C. Tonight will be cloudy with patchy/full frost and a low of -1C

Jim I been looking at the current way that things for converting into NG and the cost factor is next to nill when it comes down to it---might be the reason no one goes there-----no way to really push the profit margin up. Oh--and the other thing ---hybrids----I tell people that the dang batteries for those are running around $8,000 and that there are issues surrounding the disposal of said batteries:eek::rolleyes: The other thing---those things cost lotsa bucks---for next to no fun----recently I came across, at a friends garage no less, a Ferrarri Dino for about $12,500. Real Ferrarri---hybrid cost $34,600 here at most dealers---HMMMM:rolleyes:;)

Going to church this morning--then it'll be a bunch of committee meetings for the rest of the day----come home relatively late----yay:rolleyes::D:D

Have yourselves a good'un:D:D

Well I didn't get my coal, guess I hadn't been naughty enough (sorry couldn't resist  ). I went to Timonium and met up with Dave (a.k.a. railbuilderDHD), he'd already picked up the coal and was gonna give me some from the back of his pickup truck. But we somehow got separated and I couldn't reach his cell phone - poor reception, I guess. But I did walk out of there with 2 more NJ International B&O signal masts, now I'll have all the signals I need from the same mfgr and can use the same wiring for all of them.

Mornin :) from itsalittlechillyville!
Walked out on the patio and brrrr! Its a balmy 46 degrees. Boy that makes the coffee cup feel warm!.

Larry Been there, done that, and was sore for days! I installed a folding staircase then added the floor to the attic of my old house. Didin't take long though to fill it up with stuff, and yet, the closets were still full!

Jeffrey Sounds like you are on the mend and taking care of yourself well. Keep it up! We'll keep you in our prayers.

Jim I've got one suggestion for your Digitrax problem,:p but it would cost you some $$$$$. Ken took my advice, and has never been happier with DCC! :D

Chris Mowers that run on natural gas? From what I understand, that could be right up your alley! If you could harness the methane from your DMSFs, you could run the mower for free!!! Or you could just eat a dozen tacos before mowing!!

Went to my 30 year high school reunion last night, what a long strange trip it's been. Most of them I have not seen since graduation and wow, do people change. Lots of bald heads, gray hairs and mid-section growth going around. I made a comment at one point that the place looked more like a room full of our parents than a bunch of classmates! Ohhhh,, scary, but it was a lot of fun too. :D

Well, gotta run, the grass needs cutting, a hobbyshop run must be made, and #2 son & girlfriend are coming over for dinner. Catch y'all later!

Nice catch on the signals, but ya lost your coal!

I hope it was because you were messin with Stewie!:D:cool::rolleyes:

No foot problems thus far so no news is good news. Also the daily fevers have ceased. That's one thing I won't miss. The doc said that would be a good sign that they had gotten all the infected bone out. I'm looking forward to the visit with the foot doc tomorrow and I'm understandably curious about the progress of the healing. I've been doing a lot of TV watching of late so as to stay off my feet as much as possible. This does however take a heavy toll on my computer time and layout work. These are two things I want to get back to as quickly as possible. The computer helps me maintain the link with my friends and the layout work keeps me from going up the wall. One of the prices to be paid for being disabled and unable to work is that the daily schedule seldom changes. Therefore any chance to get out of the house, even a visit to the docs office, is looked upon with favor and an excuse to break the daily schedule.
