Terry- thanks for the icons! It should make my rants easier for people to avoid.

Bob- Glad to hear there are a few pieces of better news like the grandfather clock. You may find some of the damaged equipment is repairable if it has special meaning to you. If not, look at all the kit-bashing parts you now have to work with!
You may want to use the Walters catalog to provide pictures and current prices of the rolling stock and structures that were damaged. It will at least give you a starting point with the insurance people. Brass locos and rolling stock may require some searching of dealers like Caboose Hobbies.
If you need help on particular pieces, someone on the forum may have useful information, too.

CJ- thanks for posting about the December train show in Birmingham. I live so far back in the sticks, last Thursday's rain is just now getting to my house.

Jeffery- Sounds as if you are following the doctors orders much better this time.
Let the grass grow. Chris makes house calls, but maybe not to Louisiana! LOL.

Phillip- nice '67 camaro! The picure would have been better without the obstruction in front of the car!:D

Maybe you can get live camera feed so you can monitor from your "Southern" home.

boB
Maybe you could get 3 systemes with a live feed at both houses and the boat. That way no matter where you are you can see when Chris is raiding the fridge!!!!:rolleyes::cool:

Now you know why my fridge has a burglar alarm!

I have been so tired all day today. I feel like I've been trying to bench press a Mack truck! Being stuck in a CT scanner for an hour didn't help matters any. The operator said she got all great shots though and my foot doctor should have some news for me Thursday. I hope they can get this thing nailed down. I have to go see my Primary Care Physician tomorrow morning about my lab results.

Evening, everyone.

Barry, I can't believe you're still getting all that rain. You should have a heck of a lake by now. Post some pics of how the trestle is coming along.

Phillip, that '68 was smokin'. :) I never cared much for the looks of the Camaro but that black paint and the white stripes makes it looks pretty good.

Mikey, you always have good rants. I look forward to them. :D

Jeffrey, I'm surprised you're able to be upright with all you've been through. MRI's are never fun with all that hammering but I'm sure this one was even less fun than usual. I sure hope you get some positive news Thursday.

Bob, it will be interesting to see how the insurance company handles all those broken cars and engines. I suspect they may just offer you a flat payment and let you work out the details. If it's enough money, you can probably replace a lot of what was lost from toher collectors. Like I said, watch e-bay for any signs of your stolen equipment showing up. That could not only help recover some of your stuff but it might also give the sheriff a few more leads.

I went to a new doctor for my annual physical today. My former doctor has been getting more and more careless lately and I found out he's had two DUI's in the last year and spent three months in rehab. That was enough for me. My new doc is only a year out of residency but he's really good and doesn't treat me like I'm an idiot. He's the first doc I've run into in a long time who questions you about your medical history and meds himself instead of making you fill out six pages of irrelevant stuff. He pronounced me to be in the same shape as a Greek god...or words to that effect. I still need to get my lipid panel done and see how much all this Southern home cooking has messed with my cholesterol. My blood pressure is also starting to rise and get more labile, which means sometimes it's normal and sometimes it's high. I'm quiting smoking slowly using one of the E-cigarettes and it's working better than anything I've tried before. Cigarettes are actuallys starting to taste bad and I'm down to five a day from a a pack a day. I can taper down with the E-cigarette but still have something in my hand, which is part of the addiction. I expect to be off that in two months so we'll see if my BP stabilzes then. If not, I'll have to go on a stronger diuretic first and then BP meds if that doesn't do the job.

It's a warm and humid night but no rain yet although we may get some toward morning. The NHC has gone ahead and "created" another tropical storm, Henri, out of that disorganized mess I talked about yesterday. If that thing is a tropical storm, I'm a duck. The highest winds are only 40 mph which, amazingly, are the minimum to be classified as a tropical storm, and has no closed circulation, which you usally need to be classifed as a tropical storm. Henri will be ripped to shreds by shear that's up to 35 knots by late tomorrow and go on to the Caribbean as the tropical wave it always was. This is the most blatant example of political weather forecasting I've ever seen. Rather than just admitting we don't know how to forecast how many named storms we'll get in a year, the NHC wants to get numbers that aren't so far off its crazed forecast for the year. Geez.

Did that have a 350 or a 396?

A 350 stroker bored out. Dyno'd at 425hp with a full manual valve body street/strip turbo 400 tranny and a 12 bolt slip lock rear with 3.73 gears. If I'd have had more rubber on her she'd have been a lot faster, but it was GREAT for smoke shows!

Bob, I'd have loved to see that! It's not every day you see a clock sticking out of a convertible! And if you get anywhere near Anderson in your travels to Indiana, give me a holler. I'll buy ya a cup of coffee!

My daughter and her family live in Anderson. The grandson goes to Highland. Just a sophomore and is enrolled in ROTC. We will have to have a "meet up" fer shur.

I've been looking for another decent LHS, there wouldn't happen to be one in Anderson would there? I go to a shop in Kokomo and one in Fort Wayne since Ron Smith closed S&S. Looks like we may be spending the winter in Hoosierland. I doubt the guys get the windows and door fixed before Christmas. We'll find out tomorrow. They were supposed to be here Thursday but called and said they would be here tomorrow right around lunch time.

We had a BIG problem with the windows when we built the house. Some say that is to be expected with custom log homes. Lucky I'm a rather easy goin' guy.

Well, we made great progress today. A few neighbors stopped by to pitch in. It looks almost livable now. The list of damaged trains, and accessories, is a big'un. I'll post a miodified list when I get back to Indiana and have more time.

My passenger car/train collection took a big hit. As did some of my cabooses. The Crescent Limited is history as are some of the "Presidentials" from B&O. Especially the ones with steam engines. The engines took a BIG hit. Especially the Rivarossi's and a couple of the OMI's. Bent drivers and busted frames on the Rivarossi's. They can be fixed and I've got a supplier for the parts. I've just got to get the part numbers and send them to him. Not quite as bad as I expected, but the layout, for the most part is toast. The structures look like a tornado went through the layout.

We should be home by the weekend. The installers for the new security system will be back to install the system in two weeks. I'll come back up while they do the installation and also put the boat away for the winter. The price was much lower than I anticipated. Complete with 6 video cameras inside and 6 outside. Should help with the insurance rates too. Maybe even keep me from getting my policy revoked. It even has battery backup. Cool beans.

If anything goes awry, break in, fire, ect, the call goes directly to the authorities(911) as well as the monitoring center.

Well, way past my bedtime. The Sandman be a-knockin'.

Bob

Yes, raiding fridges is my new temp hobby I can afford! :D:D you guy's need to start stocking up on michlob ultra......remember I'm watching my weight;):)

Jim, I remember that old SNL skit on quiting smoking.... Two guys dressed up as cigarettes and follow ya around. Everytime you lit up a smoke they would work you over with baseball bats:D

A pack a day smoker spends over $1500 on smokes a year:eek:. That can be a few new trains a year:D

Bob, I haven't found a good shop in Anderson yet. And the best one around in Indy, closed up.

Sheeeesh!:eek:What is the population of Indy anyhoooo??

We's be lucky up here!! We've got 2 that I can think of right here:)---plus the one in Woodstock---just down the road from here

-------------------------------------------

Good Morning from Windville---

----wherein the winds are roaring in from the west at up to 80kmh and some gusts went over 90kmh at my silly little anemometer (one seemed to have been recorded at 105kmh:eek:). And we are getting dribbled on again--:(

Gonna see if'n I can't get some shots of the industries around the city---not all at once mind. And with this pesky wind---:rolleyes:

Have a good'un:):)

Good morning folks

It was a wet morning with a temperature of XX F. Our high today will be 68 F and clearing. We are under a Wind Advisory for most of the day and can expect gust over 40 MPH.

Not much happening last night. My daughter had her flute lesson and I had to take care of some scout stuff. Didn’t get any trains in.

Tonight is Cub Scout Den Meetings.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Hey, has anyone seen Noah lately?
I think I need to go over and give him a hand with that "ARK" thingy he was building. It has plenty of room for a nice layout, but his place is a zoo lately.

We had thunder and lightening for about 45 minutes around 1:30 AM. Maybe that is why I keep yawning! We got about 2 inches of rain in 6 hours.

Jim- A Greek God....??? Having met you in person, I think your new doctor was probably thinking of the god, Hades, 'cause you look like he11.:D:D
Of course, I'm more like PAN, the old goat!

Rex- that last payment of $20.00 allows you to stay out of this converstion.

I'm glad everyone is suffring the global warming we're having! LOL's Our temps. are upper 80's with only a 20% chance of rain. We have blue skyes and just a real nice day to be out and about! Although the growing season is about to end in two more weeks, I still welcome the cooler/dryer weather that winter has! Got to go Mower shopping with the wife......Yes, mower shopping!LOL's See ya later.

Well, the door/window guys from the manufacturer have came and went a have the alarm and security people. That was a chunk out of the ol' pocketbook. But, it is state of the art and will surely give me a bit of piece of mind. I am having 14 cameras installed, I added one each for the pole barn and the workshop, and a driveway sensor that "beeps" the house when someone comes up the driveway. the system has a battery backup in case of power loss that will operate the system for up to 36 hours. And it will call 911 with a prerecorded message in case of intrusion or fire. Pretty cool deal. There will also be motion detectors and "broken glass and vibration" sensors for the windows and doors.

We are coming back to Indiana tomorrow. The place is pretty well cleaned up thanks to all of the help yesterday. Cost me a few pizzas, but that's OK. Putting the boat on the lift for winter. I'll go ahead and winterize her too. Doubt that I get any more boating time this year.

Well, gotta go to town for a bit. Later.

Bob

I got up this morning and found that I had no internet service which equals no phone service. So I went down to my parents place to make a few phone calls concerning today's activities. While there I found that their cable TV service was out, so that explained my lack of internet service. From there I went about the days business. First on the list my my appointment with my primary care physician. We went over the results of my lab work and he checked to make sure that I'm having no problems with my central line. The only problem I have with it is that it's there but it beats the heck out of being confined to a hospital bed for a month. I also got a dizziness problem addressed. This proved to be because of a hard wax buildup in my left ear so I got some ear drops which are supposed to soften it. I'll be going back to him in a week so he can wash it out. After all that was done was done I came home and did my home IV treatment while I watched some Mythbusters on the tube and had lunch. Tomorrow morning I'll be going to see the foot doc and we'll go over the results of yesterdays bone scan.

BTW, my vision is slowly clearing. I'm able to see a dimly lit room now though with very little clarity. Driving on a cloudy day is still somewhat of a challenge but not impossible.
