Evening all! Had a screwed up day with an unexpected visit from my Sis-Inlaw. Dang she and the wife yakked all day. Thank goodness for my Depot and TRAINS, but I still got stuck with this and thats! Since then I've felt kind of WACKY and haven't been able to get all my oars in the same direction. Ahhh...now I see. Chris is up to his shenanigans again.

How about fried Shrimp? Or Fried Fried Catfis, frog legs, hush puppies, and a RC cola!
Oh, I want that and the Grouper. Don't forget the Moon Pie for dessert!

Hey Chris: You talking about your county's money problems, how about Jefferson County (Birmingham), Al. They have over 1,000 workers on layoff. The Legislature is in special session trying to work out a way for them to get operating money. All this was caused from mismanagement, corruption, and downright stupidity. (What a @#$* messed up city/county!)

KenL: Yeah, I know what you mean about the Tsunami. I love mine, but the new QSI has almost the same CV's for motor and sound with 16bit processing. I did an QSI upgrade chip on my Challenger and it was a huge improvement. I chose QSI mainly because the sounds are more specific to the model: in this case, a Hudson. I am really excited about hearing how the new QSI HB (High Bass) speakers sound.

Karl: Watch out...the old back, you know! tee hee:o

Hi Jim, where ever you are! :D

Happy, "I Can't Win Thursday!"
Rex, I heard about that:mad::( We down here ain't much better off:eek:! Every county has layoff's! Yesterday i was in a round table beating with a few other workers and the Parks director. 40 people are with out a doubt are loosing their jobs and will have to re-apply for the 8 new positions.:( I just got a bad feeling that my career in the parks is winding down to an end 6 years left to get in my 20! And from what I heard if the tax money doesn't start rolling in more layoffs will be scheduled for this time next year:mad::rolleyes:. The end story is(From the director), " If you stay the job is going to be tough..........and your going to get complaints from the public....about the stuff you won't have time to get to.......and you'll be in trouble for it......and not much you can do about it....." Might not be a bad thing if we get layed off......Anyways I got tons of honey do's jobs to do fer people!

It's funny the people that Make Government WORK are Getting layedoff!:o:(

Good morning

So, you guys all had ribs, catfish & KFC for supper last nite? I had....nuthin'. I took my 2 youngest daughters to the Howard County Fair yesterday afternoon. All the food there was so grossly overpriced I said t'hell with that, I'll just fix a sandwich when I get home. But my girls [who'd already had an early supper] were having so much fun on the rides we wound up staying there until 9:30pm. By the time I got home I was too beat to eat so I just flopped into bed.

Chris - sorry to hear your being cheated out of your Retirement. I still have 12 more years before I'll be eligible at this job, I don't know if I'll last that long.

Rex - the way things are going I might not get anything, Tsunami or otherwise. I have yet to see the check from MRH, and yesterday Vicky was reading thru a stack of bills and asked me "How much is your check from the article gonna be?" Its always been agreed that any money I earn thru hobby-related activity is 'play' money, now even that is at risk :(

Morning, everyone.

Just one of those perios where nothing seems to go right. I spent most of the day in the hospital yesterday with frank blood in my urine. Started Monday and didn't improve yesterday and was in extreme pain. Finall had call 911 to get the meat wagon to haul me to the hospital. Expect for two times I was injured as a deputy, I wason the wrong side of the sterring wheel, which is embarassing as former paramedic. I would have had my take me bu that would have meant two hours of sitting around the waiting romm bleeding all over and making lots of moaning noises. At least the ambulance delivery got me a room. I was in the worst pain of my life. I literally thought I was going to pass out several times. It took one hour and forty minutes until I finaly got somce Dilaudid. I was really ready to kill someone, especially when the x-ray tech wanted to take me to get a CT scan when I couldn't lay down if my life depended on it. Luclily, I wasn't armed or there would have been a scene. I've never seen any hospital leave a patient in that much pain for so long. One I got the pain meds, I was able to pass some large clots and start emptying my bladder. Thank God for narcotics. :)

I thought I was trying to pass a kidney stone but neither me not anyone in my fimily has a hisotry of kidney stones. The symptoms didn't match up except for the pain and blood. No fever, back pain, or vomiting. Turns out to be a bladder hamatoma, basically laceration in the bladder. Tha's why I had so much blood - the bladder can put out a huge amount of blood. I was hit in the groin by a smoking like drive last week and think this is the cause. I have an appointment with a urologist in about an hour to go over this. Ther's always a chance ther could be other problems but I've imporved a lot since yesterday and I'm hoping that just staying on pain med to allow me to pass clots and let the bladder hematoma heal on its own will work. It should take two or three weeks.

Sorry to be so graphic for the faint of heart but that's just how we paramedics talk. As you might imagine, some of those menus that would normally sound appealing are a little much for me right now. :(

I'll write more when I get back from the doc's.

Chris, at least your job is threatened by the economy and probably some mismanagemt. Jefferson County's problems stem from crimimal fraud and payoffs. It may soon be the biggest county in the US to ever file bankruptcy. Not that I wouldn't be upset about being laid off for whatever the reason, but the employess of Jefferson County have really gotten the shaft.

Supper last night was mostly a "garden" supper, save for the brats. Fried green tomatoes, fried zucchini, corn on the cob.....dessert was fresh cantaloupe.

Ran into a bit of frustration yesterday. One of our freezers decided it was time to quit working. We were rearranging freezers to make room for the food from the contrary freezer. We just got a hog, 1/2 beef and chickens a few days ago and the freezers were near capacity. The meat, along with the frozen beans and such from the garden, just about filled the others to capacity. And we still have corn to do. Hopefully, fixing it will be on the cheap and we can get things back to normal again. Luckily we did cold pack some of the green beans, so we had fewer packages in the freezer this year.

The tomatoes are lagging a bit this year. The lack of hot weather has definitely slowed their growth. But, I must say, the plants are loaded. Now, if they would just ripen.

Squash and zucchinis are doing great!!! Looks like we will have plenty to process for breads, cakes, and cookies. And still have plenty to have for some meals now. I love this time of year. Fresh veggies are the best. Don't worry Jeffrey, Angela has recipes for all of that stuff just suited to diabetics. My Blood Sugar actually runs too low, at times, this time of year. I think it's the tomatoes. They are acidic and that tends to pull the levels down. And I have always loved eating field ripened tomatoes.

I ave an appointment this morning with the Realtor on putting Tom's house on the market. The court hearing is over and I have papers in hand appointing me administrator. Spent a couple of hours at the bank yesterday. I hate bankers, almost as much as I hate lawyers. They were going to charge the estate for some bogus reason, saying they had administrative costs or something. I said fine, I'd just withdraw the funds and deposit them elsewhere. That backed them up a few steps and they "agreed" not to charge anything. Idiots.

I also opened Tom's safe deposit box. He was pretty well set for his retirement. Too bad he didn't live to enjoy it. This is going to be relatively easy, but is going to be quite time consuming until the estate gets closed. I've got to sit down and list all of his assets. Then get back with the lawyer to verify and document his estate and assets. Then we need to work out some of the legalities pertaining to the liquidation of property. Thankfully, I've been down this road before when I was executor of my Dad's estate, so it's not unfamiliar territory.

Tim and Cindy, Tom's children, decided that Tom's trains and truck are to be gifts. WOW!!!! I will be paid for my time from the liquidation of the estate. Trains, truck and money too? I'd take care of the estate for nothing, but they insist. Very kind and generous. I would like to think that if things were different, Tom would do the same for me. I'm sure he would. And he would probably feel the same as I do in the matter. It just feels odd to me taking payment for helping a friend.

Well, I gotta head to the garden and check the corn, see if any beans are lingering. Get some 'maters for lunch and supper, I hope some are ready. Maybe pick a few onions and some kohlrabi for lunch.

Bob

Good morning.

It's 73 and sunny. The high will be 93 and it will be partly cloudy.

Worked on one of the structures yesterday. I put printed images of window shades and curtains in the upstairs windows and put a photo interior shot of a barbershop in the front and put a light inside so the interior photo is backlit. I also started putting some photo interiors in the Seymour Block. Not sure what will be on the schedule today so I'll take it as it comes.

Good morning folks.

Jim, reading your post makes me not want to roll my eyes when someone says," at least you have your health." I hope you have a speedy recovery. Those pain medications must pack quite a punch. You'll have to go back and read your post after the drugs clear your head!:) Sorry to hear you're in such pain.

I'm just killing time, waiting for the wife to get up so we can go up north. I slept like crud last night so I'm up and ready to go. I figured I would rather drink coffee and get caught up on the forums instead of laying in bed. I'm ready to go cruise on the new pontoon all day.

I had put in an order for summer weather for our weekend. With how cold it had been lately, I didn't think it was going to happen. Well, 89 and sunny should do just fine! It is staying warm until Saturday night, then back to fall like temperatures on Monday. Perfect! What am I doing sitting at a computer desk?;) Being unemployed, my wife sure has gotten into this sleeping in thing! She's not depressed or anything, just lazy!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Sorry, Corey and the others here. My previous post shows you should not write while under the influence of narcotics. :) Let's just say I was really, really sick and I'm feeling much better today. I have a clot in my bladder that was blocking the ureter and, me being a good boy, tried to drink as much as I could to stay hydrated. Bad move in this case, since the liquid could net escape the bladder. I saw a movie of the CT scan this morning and my bladder was so distended that it was starting to impinge on my diaphram and giving me shortness of breath. Once I finally got some heavy duty narcotics IV, I was able to pass several gigantic clots. I still have blood in my urine today but I'm peeing like a racehorse, so that a good sign. I will keep pumping in the liquids now for the next week. since I can now empty my bladder, and go back and have another CT scan to make sure this clot is gone or significantly reduced. I still think this is trauma from the baseball hitting me but we'll see. I had to drag my butt out of bed at 6:30 to see the urologist, who told me exactly the same thing the the doctor at the Prattville hospital could have told me, since having another CT scan eight hours after the last one was going to tell them nothing. Of course, I got to pay $300 for the privilege of talking to a doc from India, who I hope knows what he's doing, for a full five minutes at the cost of another $300. Both these hospitals are owned by the same company. Wonder if there's any connection there? I'm hoping my $1000 dedctible is finally met.

WoW! Jim, that really must have hurt. Glad you are on your way to recovery.

Chris: You are vested in your retirement...right? If so and if you get laid off, do not take your funds out of it...no matter how tough things get. When you get to the minimum retirement age for that fund, you will be glad you still have it and the additional monthly check/insurance...for the rest of your life. ;)

Jim - when I started reading your earlier post, I first thought you were talking about kidney stones from the way you described the pain. That ball must've hit you really hard to do that kind of damage! Hope you recover quickly...

Corey - your wife and mine seem to be alot alike. If she had her druthers, she'd sleep until noon and stay up until 2:00am!

Bob - are we even outsourcing medical work to India too!? Geez, nobody's job in this country is safe anymore...

Jim, Holy Crap! I turn my back for a second and wham your on the floor! FYI....Kidney stone can be had by all if you want them! Just start drinking Dark colored soda's Like coke, pepsi, RC, and DR. the Dye in the soda like they ain't going to make it again. It will cause your kidneys to produce stones! I got stones lot's of times in my life and the test they preformed on the stones were due to soda!:( I stoped drinking soda and stones stoped forming:). You don't have to have a family history to get stones! BTW: STONES HURT LIKE HELL! for those thrill seekers out there:mad::eek: Jim I hope your feeling better by tomarrow, We need you to be here!:)

Rex, My retirement is through the FSR(Florida State Retirement) I'm fully vested and there is No way to draw on it until I hit 62! The retirement sucks though if your under 30 years! If I don't get hired by the government again I will only collect $100 to $150 a month when I'm 62 with No Ins.! I was hoping to get 20 or better yet 30 years in:( (30)Then I would have collected a whopping $1000 a month and I can keep my ins. for one year after I retire after that i'm on my own:rolleyes:!
Government job ain't what they are cracked up to be! OBTW, If the State goes Belly up so does my retirement!:D O Joy!

Ken, I here ya! I still have a .0001% chance of getting rehired on!:o O Joy!

Chris: Don't you have a deduction on your payslip for your share of retirement (Alabama is 5% for State gov employees)? That is what I was saying to leave in there so you can get that retirement check at 62. It may only be $150/month (I would have thought a lot more), but trust me...it will be nicer then than you withdrawing now...and it will last a lot longer ;).

5 years before you retire you can enter what they call the drop program, you drop half to 2/3rds your pay check into the system for the last five years of service. But you can't add to your retirement until then:(

Yes, $150 will come in handy, it should cover my End-O-Life pill:D!
