Evening People!
While looking at the online weather, I thought you may want a glimpse of today's Tuscaloosa humidity. I was replacing the drive belts on my mower and had to wring out my sweatband four times. Heck, when crossing back from town, I noticed the fish out on the riverbank catching bugs. I even heard on the news that some joggers drowned while running on a dry street.
Oh brother, time to go on to bed. Night all!:D

Good Morning--

We're getting a sun/cloud kinda day with those showers and a chance of those t'underboomlets again. Temperature will be around 26C with tonights low at 16C.

Getting ready to head in to work to do some more writing--Managed to condense one box into one of the binders---heeheehee:eek::D:D --and the good thing is no one goes and interrupts the flow, so to speak--:D:)

Rex Our humidity has been hovering around the 75% to 95% bucket for about a couple of weeks now---seems it likes it up here. Actually the only thing I'm glad about is that the temperatures have stayed as cool as they have--(We're running about 3.5C cooler than normal). These T'boomers we've had would/could've been worse!:eek:

Have a good one:):):)

Good morning.

It's 77 and clear. The high will be in the mid 90's and there's a chance of thunderstorms.

Yesterday I was having a real problem getting online. No sooner did I get online than the internet signal went down. This went on and on throughout the day. I watched the LED's on the modem to see what kind of activity there was and noted that the signal went offline more than 10 times in a minute! Later in the day it was more stable and actually stayed on for about 3 hours. At 8 pm the signal went down again and stayed down until after midnight sometime. I bet the folks answering the phones in Tyler were wearing fireproof hairpieces to keep from being scorched by the flames coming out of the phones. I tried calling in several times but couldn't get through.

Mornin' guys...

Well looks like we have a while day of rain ahead of us here in my neck of the woods.:(

Not much else going on in my world. I need to get working on straightening up the basement today and then I need to organize my daughters old bed room. The wife wants to turn it into a sewing room. She likes to make quilts and the room would be good as a sewing room. So I need to repaint, and move her sewing stuff in there for her.

Then I need to find time for more studying. Seems like that is all I do is studying for this crazy motorcycle instructor course.

Oh well go to get at it, talk to ya later...:D

Good morning folks

It was 76 F and very muggy on the way in this morning. High will be 85 F with some heavy rain.

Last night was a fairly easy evening. My daughter had her flute lesson. We just lounged around and enjoyed the new A/C unit.

We are still waiting to hear when and if we are getting paid. There is talk but no action as of yet.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Tony, rain is awesome, means i don't need to water my garden :)

kid is being somewhat sleepless latley with all those teeth coming out so had awesome nap on the metra today, thankfully the last passenger was kind enough to wake me up.

its not that i'm upset about the jogger being on the road, it just amused me that it is he who started being all upitty throwing hands in the air. perhaps i did pass closer to him then the other vehicles but i didn't open the door :)
wondering if a though "hmmm. perhaps i need to run on a sidewalk after all" crossed his mind.

Wait! Don't you know that bicyclists are worth big points? They're fast moving, highly manuverable targets! You're throwing away valuable points there!

Look, the basic format goes as follows, with special situations being reviewed on a per case basis of course:

Elderly pedestrians (slow moving targets) = 10 points
Middle aged pedestrians (faster) = 25 points
Young adult pedesrians (quiker yet with better reaction times) = 50 points
Teenagers = 0 points (Most people want to kill them anyways, so we're not going to reward you for a job anyone else is probably already wanting to do for free!)
Kids = OFF LIMITS (Shoot, half the time they throw themselves in front of your car......no challenge there!)

+ 10 for target wearing sneakers (makes them quicker)
+ 25 for a pedal bike with a 1 point boost for each gear the bike has
+ 50 for a moped
+ 100 for anyone caught being stupid at the time of impact (Plus a great feeling of satasfaction!)
- 10 for a cane
- 25 for a walker or wheelchair (very little challenge here)
- 50 for a seeing eye dog or white cane (virtually no challenge)

Now that you know the basic rules of the game, forget all you learned in drivers ed and go out there and take charge of the roads! Remeber, DRIVE OFFENCE!

:D

yeah, Death race 2000, lol
cleanup however will be a bitch with potentially expencive repair of paintjob so i try not to run people over... hek, not even those arogant geese

I got rear-ended while riding my motorcycle so hard my shoes flew off. Anybody want to chip in to pay my medical bills? I only owe another quarter million or so...
really sad to hear. however i never heard of proper motorcycle footwear flying of. slippers and sneakers yes, boots stay on your feet (hopefully attached to rest of the body  ) .being rear ened at light is my paranoia, i have very bright oscillating additional stop light, always staying in gear, looking behind frantically ready to take off until i have several cars piled up behind me. unfortunately it is much easier to just relax. heal well

Thats why when you're ready to play the game it helps to have a beater car. A '65 Caddy Sedan DeVille works nicely! You can weld in a small trough behind the front and back bumpers and fill it with concrete to add to your "impact resistance"! :D The shear size of the vehicle increases the chances of contact, and in an emergency the hood is large enough that you can land aircraft on it! The biggest upshot though is that they're big and roomy with a trunk large enough that instead of a spare tire you can carry a spare sub-compact car!

I think thats a fear of most riders. I know I'm watching those mirrors at a stop light.

Heal soon bnsf and get back in the saddle!

Strangely enough, they were steel-toed lace-up work boots. I also had my helmet strapped securely on my head, but it flew off as well. The police found it, still strapped, half a block away, along with my cell phone. I took quite a hit, the police figure he was doing at least 40 mph faster than I was (I was doing 45).
He went back to Costa Rica.

Good Evening--

Got home to a chorus of singing Gold Finches on our porch---and me with no camera--:(

I'm going to have one more day at work then a 4 day weekend as we get a semi pseudo sorta kinda civic holiday Monday---then it is one more week of writing and presenting report then 4 weeks OFF!! Heeheehee:D:D

Anyways--got a bit of an HD list item here so off I go to do dis:rolleyes:

Evening everybody,

Just checkin in. Finally got started on installing all the car-card slots at their various locations around the layout. Not too difficult, just very repetitive and tedious. Seeing it all gradually take shape is giving me new energy at least.

Good Morning:)

We're finally coming out of the daily rain bucket.:) Today we are seeing a mostly sunny day with the temperature at 24C for a high and 12C for the low tonight. Tomorrow we'll see 26C for the high under a mix of sun/cloud with no mention of rain:D:D

Got some more screed writing to do then off for 4 day off thing--heeheehee:D

I've got a new airbrush set that I'll be using, finally, on some old boxcars to see how I can use it to weather them better---mmm ( chin stroking time) --mmmm:confused:

Have a good one, people.:):)

Good morning.

It's 77 and cloudy. The high will be near the mid 90's and there's a chance of rain.

Had problem after problem with the cable internet out here yesterday, indeed, for the majority of the last week! There's a loose connection in the area for sure, as the signal seem to go on and off seemingly with a change in the wind. There's supposed to be a tech coming out here this morning to check the problem out. Well, we'll see if he's a tech or just another wiseguy who tries to protect the company by claiming it's a problem with the users equipment. If it's a problem with my equipment then there's a bunch of people having the same identical problem as it's an area of over a hundred square miles calling in about it (Got that from the crew in Tyler yesterday). On the MR front I'm sorting through my boxcars that have roofwalks. Those that have roofwalks that can be easily removed will have them removed and remain in service. The others which have roofwalks that can't be removed (molded on) will be retired to the storage cabinet above the layout. I'm not concerned about the position of brake wheels too much as many older boxcars still had the brake wheel up high for years even after the roofwalk was removed. Roofwalks on covered hoppers are necessary for obvious reasons and so are not a problem. Got the parent's yard mowed yesterday before it got too hot to work outside. Even then I still felt like a big water drop when I finished. If my sister remembers to get some gas today I'll mow her yard this weekend.

Good morning folks

It was 73 F and a little less humid this morning. High today will be 88 F without any storms.

Last night I attended a meeting for Scouts about Membership Recruitment and the Popcorn Fundraiser.
Not much else happened. We are still waiting for the clowns in Harrisburg to do something.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning all from Ye Olde London Towne.

I'm baaaaack. Didja miss me? Thought not. :(

Weather is cool and crappy. Rain, rain, more rain, and for variety some showers. Highs only around 22c.

Had a good week's break from technology. Just have to relearn how to use my phone. :D Managed to get the rest of fence replaced and ordered a new gate. The gate was supposed to be delivered on Friday but it was sitting in the back yard last night when we got home. Now I just have to find some time to install it. The local cats have taken to our garden as the community litter box. Once the gate is up that will slow them down. I'm also installing spike strips along the top of the fence. These are plastic things that won't puncture or cut but are very uncomfortable for kitty's paws to walk on. It'll also discourage any theiving scumbags from fence climbing.

Not much time for modelling as household honey-do stuff came first. I did manage to finish the exterior painting and awning fitting of the Summit 'JiB' kit. All I need to do now is scratch up an interior and order some air con units from Walthers for the roof.

Have a good day all and take care.

Good morning everyone.

I was able to steal an hour last night for modeling. Plenty of time to glue all of the window glass for my freight station. It's funny how much you can get done when you do a little at a time.

I'm just happy to see some buildings going up in my fair town!

I have a long, boring day ahead of me. Boring if the bride's mothers behave!
Have a great day!

jeffrey, that inet provider problem is actually easy. call them up and say "hey guys, whatever the problem is my net is unusable 30% of the time, so please adjust my bill to reflect this please. i don't intend to pay for something i couldn't use". after that call comcast was here QUICK to find that somewhere in street level leaky distribution box a filter that used to remove unpaid channels on my line went south. i also lease the modem rather then own one, so if it is never my equipment that can give way.

ouch, i'm afraid to ask about your injuries. we had our motorcycling season opened with a death of female rider who was run over by SUV at stop light. not only driver did not see her, she also blew that red light as well at about 45-50mph AFAIK.

don't get me wrong, i'm no gear nazi and i will never try to preach anything to t-shirt riders, i however i will never ride without EVERYTHING. the only way i see helmet flying of like that is being to big for you. but i guess stuff can happen. while better then sneakers, steel toed boots still not proper riding boots. that steel toe could do a lot of mess, and most importantly ankle support is not sufficient. also in case of a get-off i found that proper footwear can also act like a scoop :D which probably heleped in braking while i was doing my loveley "get-knocked-off-bike-and-slide-in-grass" thing somewhere in south indiana last year. cleaned a lot of things out of those boots.
