ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Time for me to call it a night. I have to get up at 3am and be ready to go at 5am. Hopefully all will turn out for the good. I told my father today that I'm laying claim to my mothers power chair and he can't have it. It'll certainly make getting around the house a lot easier. It's been on charge steady since we put new batteries in it so it should be ready to go.

David - I'd be interested in the mods you made to the Atlas turntable.

Had a great time at our church's picnic at the YMCA. 400 hamburgers and 200 hotdogs were consumed (not all by me :p). Yes, it was hot but most spent their time in the swimming pools so no problem there. I'm whupped. See y'all tomorrow.

Jeffery, just in case that you see this prior to tomorrow ... I have you in my thoughts and prayers as well.
Here's wishing you a successful outcome.

Say Dr. John, I meant to take some pictures this morning but things just didn't work out that way. I'll try to get some taken tonight.

For one thing, although not a mod, I used 1/2" sound board as a ground cover base on my layout and that thickness is just right to allow the turntable to be recessed almost completely so my lead-in code 70 rail matches up fairly well with a slight shim prior to the TT, and the same but slightly thicker shim for the code 55 extended tracks.

I try and get to the pictures later today.

Good Morning:

Jeffrey, Good luck today, I have you in my prayers. I your surgery goes well.

Went to the Edison Greenberg Show yesterday, and was able to pick up four cars suitable for 80s operation, at a good price. Not bad for a show that caters to Hi-railers.
It wasn't crowded when I got there around 11 AM, but was getting busy by 1 PM when I left.

Squeezed a DZ125 decoder into my new Walthers SW1. I used the on board 8 pin plug. It runs nicely, and pulls well. Still not sure I know what to do with it, as it was painted B&M. Since the frame is black, Penn Central or Conrail patched PC may be a possibility.

After having some coffee and a sweet roll at the dinner here I'm ready to go. Flo & Francine are/were a couple of Babes, I wonder if Bill T. has taken any new shots of the place lately?

It's 86°F currently, going for a low of 64°F tonight. The Humidity is 24%.

I have some shots to take of my Atlas Turn-Table to show Dr. John what I've done with mine to make it more functional.

Talk with everyone later.

Good evening. It's Monday and 86.
I hope Running Bear made it through his procedure okay, we'll probably hear later in the week, maybe.

Hello .....

Regarding Running Bear (Jeffrey)

I received a phone call from Jeffrey's Dad, and the surgery went as well as can be expected. His leg is amputated below the knee. ..... Here is a quote from a thread I started in the Model Railroader Forum .....

" Jeffrey, of course, is well known to most of you, and I suspect many already know he has long suffered from diabetes. Many also know he was scheduled for surgery today.

Jeff's Dad called me a short while ago. Jeff's leg was amputated below the knee, and the surgery went as well as can be expected. He may be in the hospital for a week or so. Next, he will be at his Dad's residence for maybe about six weeks. I was able to talk very briefly with Jeff on the phone. He, of course, is drugged now, but he certainly appreciates everyone's concern.

If anyone wishes to post Get Well wishes in this thread, I will gladly relay them to Jeff.

Meanwhile, Jeff's Sundown Shops are closed, and no new "Frankendiesels" are currently in production. His Midland Gulf Railway and his Louisana and Arkansas have temporarily suspended operations. His creativity is quite remarkable, and I look forward to the day when he will return to the forum.

Praying for Jeff's health and a swift recovery from surgery. "

Feel free to post Get Well messages here or in the MR Forum.
