Good morning folks

It was a pleasant 67 F as I headed in this morning. They kept talking about dense fog but I did not encounter any. High today will be 87 F.

Yesterday we went to the Granite Run Mall and while we were in Boscov’s a nasty storm came up. It got dark, and there was a lot of rain and lightening. While my wife was checking out the power went out. A few moments later it came on. They there was bright blue flash inside side the store emanating from the ceiling (we were on the 2nd floor) and a loud kaboom. The lights went out again. We later found out that lightening hit a transformer on the roof of the store. That was our excitement for the weekend. We did the grocery shopping and some yard work.

No modeling this weekend.

Ray, that was a great greeting!

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning folks. I thought I'd pop in and say hello. My layout is at a stand still right now. I've found that my bench work needs a little tweaking to make it a more usable space. One section needs the legs moved in to avoid a furnace vent. Another one needs the gussets moved to accommodate a table underneath. I should have known to not spend too much time designing this thing. Everything will evolve as I go, including the track plan.

I lost a day off yesterday do to the owner's scheduling foul up. I have tomorrow off, so maybe I can jump in with both feet in regards to bench work. I really don't care for this part of the build. That's why I'm taking my time. If I hurry, I'll regret it later.

Have a good day!

Good Morning ALL !!! We had the nasty thunder-boomers come thru last nught , Checked around the house this morning and everything is ok . Ray the camp looks beatiful and the Kwahadi Dancers sure look colorful and interesting ! I called our Vet. today and our little girl goes in at 3:30 . She has stopped drinking water and I think she knows it's her time. All my kids were over to say goodbye . It's just so dam hard to get it over . Well gotta go with the gas company about my heating bill . Seems like we were underestimated and have to pay out some more cash. Should be a fun time there. Hope you all have a nice day !!!!!

Paul my heart goes out to you and your family! I will be holding you in my thoughts and prayers this afternoon.

Paul We'll be thinking about you today, your doing the right thing.

Nice and warm 80 plus day today so the kids were in the pool by noon, i added a two inch bore submersible pump for a laugh and laugh they did, they were still in there at 7pm squirting everything possible within reach including me, the rabbit and gran and grandad, funniest bit was when they put balloons down there trunks and filled them with water with it, it was hilarious watching them walking round with about five gallons in there.

Evening everyone

WEATHER
It's now starting to rain! The weather radar showed a small rain cell passing over us....Should get enough to make the grass grow:D

PERSONAL NOTE

"Flo, I want the Fried Catfish Platter and I want extra fries and Hush Puppies with it and a Large Iced Tea too! and Put this on Bills Tab;) ! Flo, hasn't Bill gotten you any new help or dinner menu yet?"

Not much to report here, got some random short lived rain all over the state. My short rain just ended:( hope some more pops up:) It was a Long day at work mowed the soccer fields today, dang thats a boring day dang near fell asleep on the tractor!LOL's:p

Paul, sorry to hear about your little girl!:( Some good will come from it though! Every time we loose a pet God graces us with a new hard luck case! all our animals are adopted and all have a little hard luck story and hefty vet bill:)

Evening, everyone.

Lots of running around today so I've been in and out and this is always the last section I get to.

Hi, David, nice to see you at Flo's. I used to live in the Bay Area and it looks like it's going to be a really bad fire season this year. :(

Geez, Ray, I miss going to camp. They should have a camp for us old guys too.

Tom, having lightning strike the roof transformer sounds like one way to get the wife out of the mall. :)

Jeffrey, we've got the same heatwave you do. No rain and a high of 101 degrees today with low of 75. Doesn't look like it's going to get any cooler until Friday.

Corey, no matter how well you plan, there's always what's called in the business "construction interference", like a pipe just a inch closer than you thought. Benchwork isn't my favorite thing either but I've found I have to take it slow or the whole thing falls over in about a year.

Paul, sorry that it's her time but, when they stop drinking water, it's really only a short time until they go anyway. The poor girl has really been suffering and she'll be in a far better place. My sympathy to you and the family.

Steve, it must have been nice just have warm enough weather so the kids could enjoy the pool. I'm sure the rest of the family was as amused as you with the kid's pump tricks. :)

Chris, glad you at least got a shower. Nothing headed our way although there's a little disturbance in the southern Gulf that may develop into something by Friday. Since we're going to Destin for a few days next week, it figures that it will be our first Gulf storm. The family is set to blame me if weather cancels our plans. I keep telling them I'm in advertising, not production. :D

Hey All,

Just finished up a terrific bday week. Friends and or family took me out every night and twice on Wednesday! Had an amazing week, and now it is time for me to get back into my school work....ew. Jim, the paper that was due today was to be about a current issue in psychopharmacology. I wrote my paper on Psychopharm. as it applies to adolescents. Sheesh...it was a struggle to find the right information.

Paul, You and your family are certainly in my thoughts. I believe that animals are one of the greatest blessings we receive, and the loss of such a good buddy can be heart-breaking.

Jeffrey, I don't know how the heck you respond to those fires in the summer. I reckon they still have to be put out  I used to work the medic unit and we would do standby on structure fires. I never envied the FF I worked with. They were a great bunch of guys. I sometimes miss my old EMS days. :D

Steve, I remember the days out on my Grandpa's farm when we would play for hours and hours in the pool. It was nearly impossible to get us out of there in the late afternoon. I know your kids had a blast!

Rex, How are those sweet little puppies doing? I have been showing their day one pictures to anyone who comes into my office.

I think we hit 100 today. Usually by this time of summer, we have been enduring at least a run of a week or two of 100+, so this year has been rather pleasant.

I hope you all stay cool and have a terrific Tuesday!

Sandy

Yes Virginia, some people are absolutely nuts.:D As for me, I prefer to have my feet solidly on the ground.

Good morning.

It's 77 and clear. The high today is supposed to hit the century mark and it may get mostly cloudy. There's talk of a small chance of showers but I think that's a myth.

Got some modeling done yesterday. I made and applied the decals to my Mantua/Proto 2000 Frankenstein the set to work on an old (pre Y2K) Bachmann FT-A shell. I distressed it slightly so it will look like it's had a hard life then painted it in the colors of the MGRy and distressed that in places too. Also applied the road name decals.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA 71446-6114 7/29/2008

Heat Index: 80°F
Humidity: 88%
Dew Point: 72°F

So Far Today
High: 80°F
Low: 75°F
Rain: 0.00"
Rain Rate: 0.00"/h
Gust: 6mph W

Today High: 100 Mostly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs around 100. Light and variable winds becoming south around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight Low: 75 Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. South winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.

Good morning folks

It was 75 F on the way in today. High today will be 90 F. We are again under a Heat Advisory for Wednesday.

Had a little bit of a rough morning. Foot was bothering me through the night and kept up most of the night. Once I fell asleep I slept through the alarm and had to rush out the door.

No modeling last night. I am hoping for some later this week.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning, everyone.

Up early for me today. Need to get some shopping done and I want to get out before the heat becomes unbearable.

Sandy, psychopharmacology for adolescents was a tough topic. You're right, there isn't much out there, mainly because most docs just load the kids up with Ritalin and call it a day. My oldest daughter was one of those with the ADHD label stuck on her and it affected her whole school life. None of her doctors ever looked for another cause for her problems. She was really bipolar. Got her on depecote last year and the change is amazing. She's just completing her first semester in college with two A's and a B, something she never thought she could do.

Chris, looks like a good day for you on radar in terms of rain. We're like Jeffrey, waiting for that slight chance of thunderstorms but I doubt we'll see any. The low was only 76 and it's already 82 so we'll be in for another hot one today. That area of disturbed weather in the Gulf south of New Orleans is starting concern me a little. We'll see what happens by the end of the week.

Steve, all the antique malls I get dragged to have old furniture and other junk women like to look at. I've never seen any model railroad stuff, which is sort of odd, since they seem to sell just about anything they can get their hands on.

Ray, looks like a ball to me. I guess you have some folks who really understand rigging and rope work there. Looks like a very safe operation.

Phillip, we have been stealing all your heat while you've stolen all our rain. :) We've had one day with a high below 90 in July and that was 89. It does get hot in Alabama. The difference here is that it just stays hot. At least the Ohio and Indiana cool off for a few days each month in the summer.

Tom, what's the deal with your foot? Have you been to see a doctor about it?

Sunny, warm, and humid morning here. This would be a bad place to be a sauna salesman. I've got one right outside the door. :D

Oh yes! The Boy Scout COPE program (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experiences) is a model for safety. It is a program for teaching people to work together as a team and to face challenges together. The Scouter who creates and rigs the course here is an instructor at the National Level and the staff who work the course have major hours of training and have to be approved to be there by the director of the course. The photos are of the "Flying Squirrel" event. Here is what the rest of the group are doing to lift the camper 35' straight up in the air.... The "squirrel runs in one direction everyone else runs the other direction...... When you get right under the crossbar, the rope runs out and you "fly" straight up!

FlyingSquirel03.png

They also did the Zip Line last night. You are attached to a safety line, then climb a 50' pole to a platform where you are attached to the zip line. When all is ready and checked you take about a 30 second ride to the end. This is the end......

ZipLine01.png

Those are high level events, we also did sveral inititive games and some low level event as well.

Good Morning from Central Cal. Ps: I almost at the Exact Dead Center of Calif
according to earlier survey.

The fire/s burning near the Midpines area still is out of control due to the very step terain making accessability estremely difficult. It's putting lots of particulate matter into the air as I seen ash on my car out back and I live about 20 miles South of the fire area!

Say Ray. I didn't catch it at first, even though I saw the Indian Costumes, but as I got to looking at your more recent photos, thanks for posting them, I realized that this is an OA event it seems. I'm OA myself or at least was in years past, went all through Scouts and on a Silver NapSack Hike but never went to an event like this before.

Hi Jim, from the sound of it you had your hands full with the doctors and your daughters situation, not very pleasant at all, frustrating to say the least!

How come when I get here all the girls have gone and there's some guy that for all the world looks like Ray pouring coffee? I was hoping for something a little easier on the eyes! JK Ray :~} Actually the Scout master that took us on the Silver Nap Sack Hike was Ray Abbott, God Rest His Soul, and he had a Son Named Ray who was also interested if MRR.
