Hi all! Flo, how about a big MUG of hot coffee. Dang it got cold here last night with a low of 25 around 3 a.m. It has just got up to 44 right now and mostly cloudy.

Larry, I think we are starting to see some of the lessor known (football) colleges ease into the ranks of the powerhouse teams, as was well demonstrated last year when Utah embarrassed Alabama and by several that have done well this year. However and in order to become a Big Guy, you have to play Big Guys...and win. Then, they too will be in the media with all the hype. ;):)

Time to get back to making a mountain out of flat Georgia Pacific. See ya'later!

Brrrrr! Sounds like just about all of us are dealing with chilly weather. It's 16 degrees here right now and we're supposed to get cooler tonight.
Ran into town awhile ago and took some pic while I was there. Kinda of shows what it's like out now.

Hope everyone stays warm!!

Sandy

OK we're not as cold as the rest of ya but our temps have droped some! we're siting in the low 60's, but to us here in florida any thing below 60 is freezing!:p:D So those of you with 20* or less those temps would kill me:)!

Tomarrow the temps should get into the Low to mid 70's. I hope so cause I got's two moble home to pressure wash! and would hate to be spraying water in temps less than 65*:(

It's currently 55 degrees here, with rain in the lower elevations, and snow higher up. Supposed to be cold and rainy here all week. I guess I should have been careful what i wished for, we seem to be getting our yearly rainfall all in one week.

It's 51 here tonight. The low will be a balmy 47. I'm not on much tonight because I'm in extreme pain. The nerves in my feet just suddenly decided the were going to work for a while. Hopefully the nueropathy will set in again soon and I'll have some peace.

Brrrrr, its 30 here, 24 by morning, a high of 40 tomorrow.
Sorry Southern boys, the cold temp whining don't cut it!:p

Evening, everyone.

Larry, while I would really like to see a playoff system in college football, this year bowl game matchups are the fairest in years. Florida has to play Cincinnati and Boise State takes on TCU. If Cincinnati can handle Florida and Boise can take out TCU, their BCS stock will go up immensely. As Rex said, you've got to play the big boys to make it into the BCS, and these will be huge games for both schools. My prediction is that Cincinnati will make Tim Tebow cry again and Boise State is going to show the country why they should be in the BCS next year. I pretty much plan to hole up in the house from January 1st to the 7th and watch bowl games. This is the first time in my long memory of watching college football that we're going to bowl season with five unbeaten teams. For once, most of the bowl games will actually be worth watching. :)

Chris, even though I didn't like the Tebow crying jag, he showed a lot of class, congratulating Alabama for a good team and a good game in the immediate postgame interview on the field. In the background, you could here the Alabama "fans" yelling some pretty nasty and profane things. I was really ashamed of our lack of class at that point. There's an excellent chance we will play them again next year and Florida will remember how they were treated.

Sandy, that picture with the speed limit sign of 30 and the radar sign showing 29 is hilarious. It doesn't look like anyone was getting any speeding tickets when you took that picture. I see it's 7 degrees and snowing in Denver right now and it looks like it will Wednesday before it stops snowing and maybe Friday before it gets above freezing during the day. Remind me exactly why you like Colorado again. :D

Terry, all that rain is headed over the hill and turning to snow. It looks like Reno and, especially, Carson City, are going to get whomped. Rain doesn't sound so bad now.

Jeffrey, I'm glad to hear you're going to a wound care clinic. Patients with poorly healing wounds do much better with specialist clinics. I hope your foot pain starts to fade back into nueropathy soon. Your warmer air is making me a little nervous for what's headed our way Tuesday.

Spent most of the day at church and then various Christmas parties. I was hoping to at least get a few layout pictures done but no such luck. Tomorrow I have to get the tree up or else. I've thought of the idea of a cardboard cutout but I don't think I can sneak it by Dianna and the girls. :) It's 41, cloudy, and breezy. The temperature has crept up a degree in the last hour. We should get up into 60's tomorrow and Tuesday. A cold front should come through Tuesday night when we are are at our maximum level of atmospheric instability, so the situation will bear watching.

Good morning shop dwellers,

I just glanced at the outdoor thermometer on my deck and it shows 22*F. Looks like I'll be putting on my thermalwear today!

Jim, funny you should mention that sign in Sandy's photo, wear the passing car was doing almost exactly the speed limit. I was doing 15 below the posted limit (35 on a 50mph road) in weather similar to that in January 2008 when I spun around and nearly totaled my Honda:eek:

Jeff, hope your foot feels better soon. I never knew nerves could "come back" like that!

Made a bit more progress in clearing out my garage trainroom, finished packing and storing away the last of my trains. One of the boxes was so dang heavy I could feel myself getting overheated lugging it across that semi-freezing attic! The southeast corner shelves have been completely cleared, my next milestone will be to get all of the wall shelves emptied so I can start taking them apart.

Good Morning--

Dull is the word for us this morning-with the occasional snowflurry and a bit of a shower possible--then again--another station isn't saying anything about any precipitation:rolleyes: It will only be a high of -2C today and a low of -4C tonight--

I had a bunch of piculous people in the seminars this past weekend. We had an interesting discussion on UP getting fined for drugs that were found in train by their own inspectors after federal inspectors found nothing(?). Brought up a whole pile of discussion about the US/Mexico border thing and what could be going on next---and stuff around how one makes sure that drug smugglers don't be using your shippers and etc---lotsa stuff--:rolleyes::):)

Today I've got a whole buncha HD things to do so my MRR'ing time will be very teeeennssy:confused::cool: At least that is what it looks like right now---

Jim Those bowl games sound really good---if the thing holds up:eek::D:D I'm going to wait and see which ones I'll be able to catch on the TV up here though---

Sandy Although we have not seen any snow accumulation here as of yet, to the north of here there were some places I've gone to that saw 16" of the snow just a couple days ago---I love the snowbelt around here--sometimes it is settling around here --other times not so much:eek::rolleyes:

Jeff Good thing that you got into that clinic---one of the doctors that we work with up here worked there awhile back:D:D:)

Welp--I gots ta be going to do the stuff Audrey laid out for me:eek::eek:---off to do dis--have a good day people!!:D:D:D

Good morning folks

It was 29 F as I headed out onto the crowded roadways this morning. Our high will be 44 F.

It was a wild weekend. We took our Cub Scout Pack on an overnighter Friday into Saturday. We had our largest turnout with an event with 34 people attending. Everyone had a good time. We stayed in a lodge since the Cub Scouts are not permitted to camp in tents at this time of year. We made popcorn and s’mores in the fireplace.

Saturday we had to content with the weather. Even though there was not much snow it was just enough to set off a panic on the roadways and in the bread isle. We beat the weather home from our overnighter but had to go out in later. We had to pick up a new dog from a local animal shelter. She is a 3 year old Pomeranian. She and our other dog get along well. He is trying to get her to play but she does not understand. Since she was rescued from a puppy mill she has some issues with loud noises and trust.

Sunday my daughter and I did some Christmas shopping. We also started putting up the outdoor Christmas lights. We got our Christmas tree and have it set-up. Now we have to convince our newest cat that it is not for climbing.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Evening, everyone.

Tom, glad you got the new dog and I hope she'll adapt. It might be too scary for her but a short blast of one of those little airhorns broke our cats from climbing the tree real fast. :)

Barry, the bowl games are set now so there should eb some good footbal for New Year's and after. As far as drug smuggling on the border, there's no way any system is going to stop it. Drug use is a classic case of capitalism in action. As long as there's demand, there will always be supply. I'm rather a libertarian on this issue. We tried prohibition once and that didn't work out too well. Legalize drugs, tax them, and control behavior the same way we do now with alcohol. There will be abuses of even a legal drug system, just as there is with alcohol, but we are diverting a huge amount of law enforcement time and money fighting a war we can't win.

Ken, I almost ended up in Lake Erie driving about 20 mph in a whiteout on the Shoreway. Ran into a patch of ice I couldn't see on a banked stretch of roadway and it was only the very end of a guardrail that stopped me from taking the plunge. That was one of the seminal moments when I decided I was moving somewhere that didn't get whiteouts.

As for everyone else, Flo is still having her special on turkey hash and green pea soup so I don't know why the place isn't packed. It was supposed to rain today but we had sun and a high of 59. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so who knows. If things come together right (or wrong, depending on your view), we could have some pretty good storms tomorrow night.

Good morning. It's 53 and cloudy. The high will be in the upper 60's and there's a 60% chance of rain.

My feet hurt a bit less this morning (walking on hot nails). I have an appointment this morning with the foot doc at the Deer Creek hospital wound care clinic. I'm sure they'll do their usual poking and prodding and explaining how I should be doing things that I can't do. The rest of the day will be spent keeping my feet up and watching some old movies (I have tons of 'em) as well as some TV shows and surfing the net some.

Good Morning--

I just saw the posting times up here---wha--happened?:eek:;);)

Weatherguessers are having a field day with us'uns. Depending on which station we're getting we either are getting A) a bit of snow followed by barrels of rain, B) lotsa snow, C) all kindsa snow with a heapin' pile of rain/freezing rain, D) a bit of snow/rain mixed in, E) all of the above with NO wind, or, F) all of the above with wind:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::confused: Tonight/tomorrow will be interestin' I guess:rolleyes::cool:

Audrey and I went for a nice early morning walk around the neighbourhood . I'm going to take an elderly gentleman out to the local mall so's he can get out from his house. As soon as I told Audrey this I got a honey buy list---:eek:
Next time I'll be a little more watchful-----

You all have a good one---:D:D

Good morning folks

It was 31 F as I left the driveway this morning. High will be 44 F. We have some messy weather coming up tonight. Depending on who you listen to we could have everything plus the kitchen sink. I have heard rain, sleet, and 2 to 4 inches of snow.

At Boy Scouts last night my son had his Board of Review and earned his Tenderfoot Rank.

We added the lights to the tree. I put out some more outdoor decorations but a run to the store for some new light sets. How is that you put away 15 perfectly working sets in January and 11 months later you have only 8 fully working sets, 3 half light, and 4 that don’t work at all ?

We started a major clean-up on the layout. A problem we have is that there are more trains than storage space so unfortunately the stuff ends up on the layout. After a while it becomes a mess like it is now or was.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Mornin' yall! Flo, sweetie, my usual cup of spiked...er spiced tea please.

All this talk about the weather, I just love. All here say possibility of strong to severe tonight into tomorrow with the chances of a tornado or two. We'll see.
They did bust on the "snowstorm" last weekend, but as I had said the only thing they busted on was the system speed. They thought the models were correct in that the system would slow some, but it never did. So much for the guessers. But all in all, their job is one I would love to have!:D Where else could you be wrong and not get fired!;):p

Got a friend, who's a "noobie", is coming over this morning from Meridian, Ms. He has some loco issues he needs help with. He also thinks something may be wrong with its programming. A quick run through with decoder pro should be able to check that. But before he gets here, we gotta meet with the attorney this am about our wills.

Good morning folks.

Apparently armageddon is coming in the form of a snow storm. We're suppose to get 5-10 inches with fifty mile an hour winds. It's the wind that would make it nasty. The snow isn't that big of a deal. I have the day off and do not plan on leaving. I have an appointment for a hair cut at 4:30, I don't think I'll be going to that. We'll see how this weather shapes up.

I have not touched a train or project since before Thanksgiving. I cleaned up the layout so well that I have to pull everything out again. Now that it's so cold out, I have to do my painting in the basement at work. That means a much slower process for building kits. Good thing I went on a building spree before it got cold.

I'm thinking that I'll start on my depot building. It will be the most time consuming project on the layout other than the trestle. It will involve more cutting than I care to do, but it's necessary to achieve the look of the prototype building I'm modeling. I had hoped to advance the city area of my layout more before I started this project, but I'm having modelers block. I haven't quite decided how I want the back drop to look, so I'm stalling. By the time I finish the depot I should have an idea of how this will all come together.

I suppose I should dive into this project head first. Since there's no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I hope all of you are doing well.

Have a great day!
