Chris, I have the feeling the airsoft minigun wouldn't be legal in New York City. :) Silly the amount of different laws we have regulating non-lethal weapons. With some of the airsoft guns I've seen, removing the orange barrel cap would be a bad idea. I saw one G-3 that looked like a full scale rifle and, without that orange cap, my time from ordering you drop it and you being dropped would be pretty short.

Bob, I guess the price has come down since you bought yours. I saw this one at a Sports Academy Store that just opened here. They sell a nice selection of handguns and I had never seen a .500 magnum before. It actually felt pretty well balanced considering the size and weight. I noticed the barrel had a muzzle brake. I suspect that firing one without the brake wouldn't be a pleasant experience. They are supposed to be coming out with a .223 version next, which should make for an interesting hunting gun. I agree about stalking to hunt. I really hate how deer "hunters" here just sit in a tree stand and wait for the deer to come eat the corn they've (illegally) thrown out for them. Drinking beer and shooting things is not hunting.

David, I have long experience in abjectly apologizing for all my faults to women, so I can relate. :)

LTF, you are such a softy. You could have told the guy to take the horse away but it just wasn't in your heart. I'm sure you turned the air blue helping the nitwit get turned around, but it sounds like you're already in love with the new guy. ;) Snork!

Barry, a good, private office is essential to actually getting anything done when you work at home. way too easy to get off track if everyone feels like they can stop in for a visit. Well, except for the cat, of course.

Sandy, ow, sounds like your brother really has some challenges ahead of him. I will certainly keep him in my prayers. Since he's in good physical shape, I'm sure he'll recover just fine. McConnell flies KC-135 tankers. There's no such plane as a C-120. Your penance is to read Jane's All the World's Aircraft for the next week. :D BTW, my very first girlfriend was named Sandra, so I've always liked that name.

Larry, sounds like your FIL is having a tough time of it. Chemo is hard on a younger person, let alone an elderly man. Dehydration is a common problems so the IV's will help. With the history of that place, and your wife being a nurse (I think I remember that, right?), I'd rather have them call to confirm any changes, even in the middle of the night, than let them do something dumb on their own again. I hope the chemo actually helps the cancer. He's on my prayer list also.

The deep freeze continues here. It did get up to 46 here for a few minutes, but all the puddles still have ice and it's down to 23 already, with a dew point of minus 1, something not often seen this far south. Still looks like we are on track for a really nasty winter storm on Thursday. I expect the milk and bread panic to start tomorrow, when the weather service starts to issue warnings. I'm surprised they are not highlighting this storm yet.

Sandy, I've got your brother in my thoughts. bet he recovers quickly, he must be fit.

I'm not keeping count of all the horses. Lets just call it "a bunch". :D

Larry, got your FIL in my thoughts, too.

I'm sitting here with my second cup of coffee, listening to the snow ploughs going by, nearly a mile away. must be cold, the sound is travelling well. I'm not going outside til I HAVE to.

Jim This is a different rehab facility than the one the put the meds in the feeding tube. Our daughter the nurse (sorry could not resist LOL)got to see the orders from the first facility and the releasing Doctor did not put the no meds in tube so the facility was not really at fault. My father in-law still did not want to go back. Now he wishes he would have because of the bad weather and Glendia has to drive 6 miles to pick him up on chemo day and the another 10 miles to the chemo facility and then back. At the first place he was across the street. He has always been one to second guess himself so I guess Glendia comes by it naturally.

Sandy, the KC135's are at Grissom, I believe, just 20 minutes west of us(if I'm the one driving). Fort Wayne has the AG's F16's. A little known fact, Fort Wayne(Baer Field) is on the list of places that the shuttle can land if needed. Wouldn't THAT be something!!

Bob...yup...Grissom. That's it! My brother flew 16's out of Ft Wayne for several years until moving to Randolph. I believe his squadron was the Black Snakes. I think.

Jim...I suppose I meant C130...but you are right...KC135's are out of McConnell and that's what David is training in. C120 DOES have a ring to it though  I did read a book several years ago on how an F16...works. All I remember is that it has jaw mounted thrusts with chines ferrings. (not sure about the spelling anymore) That, I am sure, will afford me the opportunity to work at the Pentagon!

LTF...We are always seeing folks here getting stuck or spinning out and wrecking on ice because they believe that an SUV has magical powers. Amazing, isn't it??

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers for my brother. I'll pass them on to him. ;)

It was 41 when I got to work and according to the news, it will be 15 when I leave today. Flippin' brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Jim...I think one of the reasons I didn't care for 'Sandra' was because it was my 'oops...I'm in trouble' name that Mom used when she THOUGHT I had done something wrong. Of course, I never had... :p

Thats the only BIG problem with the airsoft and the reason people like to play it, is for the realism of it!........If you took the guts of an airsoft gun put it in a brick and walked down the street no body would say a thing but, wrap those guts in to a realistic gun body and you change everything.

Here's some great pic's of the types of guns that are availble! http://www.trinityairsoft.com/c-69-view-all-airsoft-rifles.aspx

Law makers trying to change the law so that the guns can only be imported in if they have either a Clear Body or a Solid bright colored body or Not look like a real gun! I got to say the Orange tip does take the realism out of the gun big time. But like all sports you have A-holes that take a great sport and turn it inside out:mad: O well got to go.............C ya!

Good morning. It's 25 and clear. The high is projected to hit 55 and it will be partly cloudy.

Nothing accomplished layout wise yesterday except to see a couple vacant spots that were occupied by rolling stock that's been sent off to their new owners. I also sent a couple of mostly complete Athearn chassis to a modeler who wanted them. Nothing special going on today. The Home Health nurse will be coming out later to redress the wound vacuum that the doctor removed yesterday. Oh well, I enjoyed my day of freedom.

here's the new guy, with RRRRRRRRAmone behind him. {rmember RRRRRRRRRAmone? he's the one I bought for .11 a pound a couple of months ago.}

we're not getting rain, freezing or otherwise here in Stratford. its just dull, grey, and cold. damp cold, so you feel it more.

bleh. I need a whole pot of coffee. wha'ts for lunch?

Good Morning to Everyone,

It's a cool clear morning her of about 34* and warmming as it fairly sunny and clear skys with just a touch of high wispy clouds.

On the issue of Guns, it's been way too long since the Patriots of this nation firmly put their foot down and not asked but demanded and dictated that all these, gun control laws, are only about peoiple control and actually deter from the safety of society as a whole. Considering that there are, according to NRA figures, 150,000,000+ gun owners in this nation that speaks volumnes about their being Responsible with their weapons in that you hardly hear of anyone from this group running wild like the Mu-slim Radical at Fort Hood.

It's we, the gun owners, that keep this Nation Strong and Sound as it's we who have our eyes and minds open and aware as to what's going on! We are not a bunch of sheeple in any way.

I do want to say though, 'I'm very much in favor of Gun Control!! I firmly believe that each and every Responsible Gun Owner is the only one that should be in control of their guns & NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!!

Know Guns, Know Peace & Freedom!

No Guns, No Peace or Freedom, just Tyranny!!
Don't be fooled by the Despots crap they hand out.

FREEDOM shall live if we all unite and I think the gun ownerrs are realling pulling together, more so now than ever before!!!!!!

Everyone have a good day.

LTF- with a heart as big as yours, you have to be a special lady!
Did you ever get started on a train layout?
Makes no difference to me one way or another, I just enjoy seeing what you are doing with your horses.
I found out long ago that cussing up a blue streak about some idiot's psarentage and personal habits does warm you up while working under COLD adverse conditions. I just try to mumble and mutter a lot while the grandsons are around.

It was a cool 15*F when I picked up my paper this morning. We had a 1/4" of frost on the grass, but the streets were clear. I hope it continues to be clear for the next week. This is as close to snow as I want!
wELCOME to Nobel Prize winner Al Gore's "Global Warming!"

Well, all, a balmy 23*, big snow on the way. Supposed to be here tomorrow morning. About 6", give or take. Better snow than ice. Ice seems to be a "butt magnet". We get ice and my butt wants to hit the ground. The government needs to do a study about that. Maybe Mr. Gore can figger it out. He's a very smart man, you know.....invented the internet, I hear.

Gun control..... Hmmmm. All I know is that if they come for my guns, they better bring their lunch. I have enough high tech weapons and ammunition to make things very interesting.

I have a neighbor that is a police officer and he said I have the local SWAT team out gunned. He said that if Armageddon were to start, he is showing up on my doorstep. I told him I wanted a Wendy's double w/cheese, large fries, and a large chili before he got in the door. lol

My gun safe actually has another safe inside for my "performance weapons"(I abhor and refuse to use the term "assault weapons".). I'd hate for them to fall into the wrong hands.

LTF, nice horses. I had a horse in my youth, an Appaloosa mare. We had her bred to a quarter horse. The end result was a barrel-chested(like a quarter horse), long-legged(like an Ap) foal that was a fence jumper extraordinaire. We sold him and he was a member of the US Equestrian Team for many years. I have seen him on TV many years ago. He was the only Appaloosa that I ever saw jumping. That was many, many years ago. I imagine he has long since passed.

Well, time to stock up for the storm. Angela is a fanatic about being prepared.

Bob

Fairly dull day so far. Went down to my parent's place and did some laundry. The Home Health nurse came by and reattached mt wound vacuum and redressed my foot then she changed the dressing on my central line. Antibiotic treatment continues though by mouth at this point. Looks like one or both of the rear brake wheel cylinders on my car are going out. I'm thinking about just having the rear lines blocked off. I've done that on a few other cars and drove them for years that way with no problem. Maybe later today I'll get some of the junk cleared off the layout. Right now I'm just so tired.

Afternoon, everyone.

Larry, I know it was someone in the family that was a nurse. :) If that other rehab facility wasn't at fault and it's right across the street from the chemo center, it sure would be a lot easier on your FIL and Glendia. Nothing wrong with third guessing yourself either.

Sandy, you're hilarious. Well, I shouldn't say that, since it's only aircraft buffs that know much about things like model numbers and features. The F-16 has hard chine fairings that blend with the wings to give it better stall behavior and maneuverability. It has thrust deflectors operated by jaw joints at the engine exhaust outlet, again to increase maneuverability. The F-16 would have been an even better dog fighter if the Air Force had adopted Multi-Axis Thrust-Vectoring, which is used on Israeli F-16's, but they ran out of money. I hate James too, since I always knew I was in trouble when my mom called me that. In my case, I usually did something wrong. :D

Chris, I'm in favor of the clear/brightly colored law for airsoft guns. They are being made far too realistic and easy to modify, so they look exactly like a real firearm. I know it looks cool, but I'd hate to be a police officer that shot some kid because I thought he presented a real threat to me when all it was was an airsoft gun. BB/pellet guns are the same problem, with them being made more and more to duplicate the look of real guns. We had a guy shot and killed when he refused to drop what looked like Glock 17 and aimed it at a deputy. Turns out it was a pellet gun. :( I have no problem using lethal force to defend myself or someone else but I don't want to use that option against a nut that's waving around something that's not really a threat.

Jeffrey, I'm sure the wound sucker isn't all that much fun but it beats amputation.

LTF, looks like the new horse is a beauty, and worth digging out that trailer.

David, getting into the rights and wrongs of gun control here is probably not a good idea. There are other forums for that. I'll just say that there are lots of active duty and retired military and peace officers that remember their oaths, and will uphold the Constitution, if push comes to shove.

Mikey, it's not "global warming" now, it's "global climate change". That way, you're right no matter what happens.

It's up to 47 now after another overnight low of 17. The humidity is only 22% and I get a shock out of every piece of metal I touch...just like Cleveland in January. I'm not sure what's happening with our local NWS office but they are playing down this ice/sleet/snow event and still haven't issued any watches or warnings. Looks like we are still on track for some nasty weather tomorrow to me, and it doesn't take much to mess up the whole state. The low pressure system is well formed and snow is already starting in Arkansas. The only thing that might help us is if we don't get some return flow from the Gulf to moisten up our airmass. It still looks like we are on track for a good shot of wintry weather to me. CJ, what's your take on this?

"Global Climate Change" I like it!;):D

David, I am in total agreement, but as Jim said we don't want to get anything started here that could raise a fuss.

Jim, at noon the B'ham weather guys show a 2-3" band through the middle of the state that is one county north of me and as far south as Chilton. 1 inch to the north of that line and you look to be on the south edge with 1"+. Regardless, it will be bitter cold this weekend.

LT, that looks to be a fine new horse and the other one looks very healthy as well.

If I had my choice I'd rather have clear body(Like my Double Eagle HG) over a brightly colored model(For Sport Reason). I could just see tring to sneak around in the woods with a bright yellow brick:D! a good 1/3 of the guys at the airsoft and paint ball fields are cops and ex military. I played with these guys and have learn much from them. They arn't much for the Idea of changing the color or shapes of the guns just tighten the law around it some so that when some one misuses a model gun they get punished hard for it. There's going to be idiots that do stupid thing regardless how tight the law gets!;) O'well Game on!:D

Idea.......How about making real guns look like brightly colored bricks!............................. now that may work!LOL's

StationMaster, you can't tell me that much and leave me with so many questions.

what was the horses name? who rode him? when? where? I bet I know of him. I bet I know people who knew him. Which team? showjumping? eventing?

that is SO cool. :D

Its nice to see talk about guns and weapons here on the forums,

Anyone know anything about pre-WWI and WWI rifles?

I have a remington model 10-A from sometime between 1912-1921 , and a Springfeild model 1903 WWI rifle made in 1918 that i beleive saw service.

All the talk of flying and commercail aircraft, does anyone here fly for recreation, i flew a cessna 152 for awhile, and i had the majority of the required flight hours needed and was well on my way to getting my licencse when i came of age until the plane crashed. Out of curiosty, who else flys?

Not a whole lot goign on here today, i missed school yesterday because of migraines, maxalt knocked me out and the tylenol kept them down. I went today but got another one , stuck it out though, and even went to practice

being Canadian, guns really aren't anywhere in my lifestyle.

I think one of the most disturbing sights I've ever seen was when a Brinks truck broke down on the side of a secondary highway one day. I passed going one way, the truck was sitting there.

on my way back, another truck was backed right up to it, and an OPP officer was standing on the traffic side of the trucks, holding a rifle. or something.

something long, anyway.

we just don't SEE those things up here.

EVER.

made a lasting impression.

and some years later, I had an interesting conversation with a woman from Virginia, over the phone. She was planning on coming to Canada to rescue a few horses from an annual sale.

She asked me how dangerous it would be for a woman to be travelling alone, in Canada.
and should she bring a handgun? or would mace be enough?

I was absolutely SHOCKED. what the heck kind of a place did she live in, that she needed those things? who was she so afraid of?
she told me: to protect myself.
my answer was: from WHAT????? and I burst out laughing.
First, she wouldn't have been allowed to bring her gun. and mace is illegal up here.

I've lived alone all my adult life, mostly in remote areas, and worked alone in the alleys and laneways of Toronto, and never ran into THAT sort of trouble.

I can't imagine having to live like that.

Glendia called me about 2 hours ago and told me that my FIL is back in the hospital. His feeding tube is leaking internally and the staff at the nursing home did not know what to do and the Doc wanted him back at the horsepital. Oh sh&%^$# there goes a nice relaxing evening for Glendia.
