Mornin Jeffery,

latest news is the turnout caused the accident, several bolt were missing from the point rail and the stretcher bar bolt's were loose, OH DEAR,,, somebody's in deep doo doo

Mornin' Bill!

Mornin' Jeffrey!

Carey, Rex and all the rest of you in this storms way, my thoughts and prayers are with you for staying safe and out of harm's way!

Steve, just goes to show just how important each person's work is in this world. Hope the death toll is still at one in this accident. Amazing considering the speed of the train.

Hi All ! Jeffrey it's American Toast and sausage for me. Steve wonder who inspected those tarcks last or could we have something more sinister? Hope not. Really sorry for all you guys in the path of the stoem. we get whiteouts here also but not form dust more of the snow kind, Only thing you can do is try to get through it or pull over and wait. Lookks like the remnants of the strom will hit us a little later, expecting snow mixed with sleet should be quite a mess. Take care all and try to have a good day !

Hi all! Looks like we survived the storm in this area. A few trees blown down around town because of the heavy rain and wind, but that seems to be all. I had four plastic roof panels curled back (ruined) on my back deck, few small limbs down in the yard and a pretty good size one hit the house roof. I'm on my way to get the ladder and see if it poked a hole. Have a good one!:)

Rex and Carey - I'm glad to hear you guys survived the storm!

Here's is a shot from Vicky's camera of what's happening weather-wise in MD, looking from my rear deck. 3" so far, and plenty more predicted. I tried to capture some of the individual flakes, you can see them in front of the railings:

....
Carey, I will be sending the storm up to your place in about 1 hour:p .

Never got here! Musta got lost!:D We never even got a severe warning. :)
Seems that except for Dumas, AR. (Tornado, severe damage to the town, 27 people hurt, 4 still missing), there was only minor damage from the storms as a whole. :D (yay!!!!)

Various trees and power lines, down in scattered spots, 6 cars & semi damaged in a collision on I20-59 at Vance, Al. caused by a tree that fell on the interstate, no one hurt, so far there have been no other damage reported, that I have heard.

I guess those storms decided that Jeffco was too tough to fool with and went south!!!!;):p:rolleyes: They stayed severe south of here.

It will be interesting to read the NWS/SPC synopsis on this storm. It had been "billed" all week as a major severe spring storm with expectations of lots of tornadoes, hail, and damaging winds.

Ken;

Gorgeous shot! I love to watch snow fall, could care less if it sticks. But we haven't had anything other than flurries here since 1998.

Say Ken, looks like you got a little minor partly cloudy there.... That would be a great shot for next years Christmas card I think. Too bad you don't have a couple of Reindeer.... er, Horses in your back yard. Glad to hear most everybody has survived the storm without too much damage. Anybody heard from GrandeMan?

Ken what's that white looking stuff in your yard,???

Glad you boy's didn't get to much damage in the storms, Take it easy Rex on the roof

Hi again! Beautiful picture Ken and I agree with Ray about the Christmas card. Checked out the roof and all is ok. The limb was about 4" diameter and about 10 feet long, but it fell sideways and hit the ridge vent, bending it slightly...no apparent gouges to shingles (wipe sweat from brow!). I have insurance but it is $1,000 deductible which means it would have been mostly out of my pocket.
Wonder why there is no WPF! That's almost a sin.

Hello fellas, what's all this talk of white stuff and partly cloudy?? It's 26c (78f) here and hardly a breath of wind (till later;) )

Should have some news, re house sales, later hopefully, had some folks thru yesterday for their 2nd look, with family this time, lots of uuus and rrrrs and that would look good there. We hope they have the cash!!

Ken.

Hey all not to bad today mainly rain although it did sleet for a while but melted as fast as it came down lol. Not to much happening today talk to you all later take care

Well, I have done it again. I found some extra land in the Depot and just have to fill it up. There has to be a cure for this...maybe a model railroaders crisis group:confused: .

This started out being a 12ft. extension for the town of Newton. Hmmmm! Right in the middle of the construction and with only 8ft up (as the photo shows), an idea popped to mind. Now if I were to move the steel mill complex to the new extension, I would free up the more sceniced area for the town with light industry (see the sickness). This means removal of about 10 sidings, ballast, roadbed, structures, reversing loop, and etc. The steel complex is the first area I worked on when I started the layout. I have never been too happy with it being next to the mountains, but at the time, the layout was only going to use half of the garage. (That thought only lasted 1.5 years)

EDIT: KENL, help! Come on down for some fun and show me some Steelmill expertise.:D

With all the loose ends around the layout and I have to think of something else to do:eek: . No wonder a layout is never done:D .

What I wanna know is when the second level and garage extension are going in:D You could bring that extension down and join up to the end of the city station and the other new extension which went in after the other extension went thru the wall and .......... I'm exhausted;) ..... I really need to bring my 2-8-8-2 over for a run.:D :D

Ken.

RT - Where ya been? Don't be such a stranger!

Ray - Great idea (about making a card), wish I'd saved a larger copy. Oh well, seeing this year after year kinda makes me think inside the box too much...

KenM - Hope those people have the cash to buy your house

Rex - Here's a copy of the steel mill track plan from my old house, where space was at a premium. I think you could leave your blast furnace and coke ovens where they are, and setup a half-dozen rolling mill buildings on the peninsula. Prototype steel companies often ran their hot metal cars and slag pots on the main line, you could do that too (just add spacer cars + caboose). Peach Creek has hot metal cars/slag cars in stock if you don't already have any. Also copies of Dean Freytag's original steel modeling book (a must-read for guys like us!)
