Larry, good you are back to work, but as already said...slow and easy.;)

NZKEN/Steve: I give up again. What is a Blocky? :D

Dadburn Rex, even I know that a blocky is a bricklayer! Or in this case a "block" layer.:):D:rolleyes:

Had fun tonight at the McWane Center. I gave part one of my handlying turnout clinic. We had 17 people there, and most did just fine. I have them learning the basic skills to enable them to handlay a turnout anywhere they need one and not be limited to commercial products.

We ran out of time and will pickup where we left off, which was 1/2 way thru building the frogs. After that we will build the points and then I'll get them to may sure everything is in gauge before any soldering gets done. I will also have them make sure the turnout functions properly before the final soldering. If it works before its soldered, it will work afterwards. Its like I told them, building your first turnout is not hard. Its just time consuming.;)
Meant to add; The title of the clinic is, "We Don't Need No Stinking Templates" Or "Basketweaving in Nickel Silver". Your Choice!

Well gotta go to bed now. Its almost 01:30, and I some things that I gotta do in the morning.

Mornin all,

Carey how about a MR forums handlaying turnout class, i'd be interested

Just got three very nice ballast cars made by Hornby, the detail is fantastic, nothing like the toy like stuff of five years ago, they have finally evolved. i also got a Bachman open box scrap car, this to is a fantastic model full of very nice detail, Don't confuse Bachmann Branchline models with standard bachmann stuff, they are a world apart.

gotta go post 24 Bethgon coal cars now, sold all 24 in one go on ebay for almost $200.

Good Morning All

I suspect I owe a lot of rounds for the next week as I haven't been around these parts for quite sometime!

It's been a long, actually very long winter with very little MR'ng to show for but I had other priorities and my mind couldn't get into the train thing.

But hey that's all right as I've just aquired a Rusky Decapod for branch line service, maybe I'll be hauling once again in no time!

Larry: glad to meet your aquaintance and BTW back injuries account for 40% of all back injury claims and as a supervisor I've seen a lot of guys get back into it and wrecking their back permanently... go easy!

Later All

Fergie

PS: Dad is in his new digs and loving it, hopefully the builder will finish the last bits and start the sunroom in short order.

FERGIE GREAT TO SEE YOU AROUND AND IT'S EVEN BETTER TO HEAR YOUR DAD'S DOING FINE, HAVE A BEER ON ME.

the french TGV train just did 359MPH and set a new european record, that's knocking on a bit 359mph

Morning everyone. Yeat Steve I was reading about the French train as well, wouldn't that thing be a blast to ride on. Well hope everyone has a great day.

Mornin, Bill! Mornin, Jeff! Mornin, Ray! Mornin everyone else! Flo, I could use one of those sausage mega-biscuits like Jeff has...

Welcome Back Fergie, glad to hear your Dad's doing well! Hope you can get into trains again soon, that Decapod sounds like a good start. BTW next time you talk to Bob (TEFFY), you can tell him I've nearly crossed over to the electronic Dark Side - a.k.a. DCC. I bought the components for a Digitrax Super Chef radio system and I'm hooking them to a test track while I learn how to do the basic functions efficiently - then I'll connect it to the layout.

Yesterday I learned why Garfield hates Mondays! My daughter finally passed her driving test - a good thing, in spite of the increased insurance premiums - but now she expects us to buy her a car of her very own because "all her friends have them". (Yeah. Uh-huh.) Then I went to pickup a rental tiller for Vicky's garden, and the HW store tells me they couldn't rent it because the 'rental manager called in sick'. So I had to scramble and race over to Home Depot to get one at a much higher rate. The crown jewel event though, was that my DSL modem firmware got scrambled again - so I had to spend 90 minutes on the phone talking with various Indian tech support people to reconfigure all the settings on both the modem and the router to get my Internet back.

Ah, a new day - let's see if we can do better this time!

Mornin' Bill!

Mornin' Jeffrey!

Nice sunny day here in the Finger Lakes...... HEY! is that FERGIE sittin' over there!?!

Mornin' Fergie! Long time no see. I wondered what had happened to you. Glad to hear that your Dad is doing well. All our best to you friend!

Mornin' Ken, we all have days like that now and again. Hope today is a better one for you. I got my first car as a wedding present. When I was in my teens, I had a choice of the family Rambler American Station Wagon or the old beat up Dodge Half Ton Pickup. That is unless my parents needed the car. I remember Graduation night, I begged my Dad to let me use the car to go to the party after. He gave me a choice of the pickup or walking..... My girlfriend and I rode in the beat up old pickup.

Yeah Ray, I didn't have my own car either. My parents were divorced when I was in High School, I lived with my Dad and we shared a VW beetle. On weekdays, I would drive him to meet his carpool in the Montgomery Ward parking lot, have the Bug at my disposal during the day, then make sure I was back there promptly at 5:30pm to pick him up. Since I lived near Annapolis [MD] there were lots of affluent families, and many of my classmates had cars of their own [paid for by their parents]. Yet when I try to explain this to Sarah she says 'times were different in those old days'. I offer her the same type of sharing arrangement, but she says "No way!" Why? Because she'd have to wake up a whole hour earlier to drop me off at work:eek: :p

Morning everyone and a big hello to FERGIE! Fergie, I thought a polar bear or something done et you all up:D . I'm glad your Dad has adjusted and is doing well.
Also, we need help kicking KenL out of the DC nest. He has the DCC, the practice, the know how's, but won't make that final leap.:D

Ken i got TOLD if you want a car PAY for it yourself, so i did, i got a 1965 Mini 850 that did a whopping 65mph flat out, you could tell you were doing 65 by the way the road zoomed past you as you looked at it through the rusty holes in the floor, the poor passanger got soaked if it was raining, but hey, i was happy, it was my first car.

LOL! That old Dodge Truck had the floorboards rotted out also. My dad had hung the keys to another used pickup that he was considering buying on the lever for the turn signal..... I was driving on Main St. in town, put on the turn signal and the whole assembly flopped down causing the keys to fall through the floor in the middle of Main St. I spent an hour looking for the keys as traffic permitted, never did find them. Dad was actually very supporting of me once he stopped laughing. I had to call the Police Dept. and ask if they had found any keys. A couple of days later they called me back saying they had the keys and for me to come in and pick them up. When I got there I found I had to explain how the keys ended up in the middle of Main St. to the Police Chief. He finally came out and looked at the truck I was driving. He was laughing so hard I thought he would stop breathing. Not one of the best days of my life.....!

WOW! Some of you may remember a sarcastic remark I made several weeks ago in midwinter about the city plowing my front lawn. This morning they came and repaired the damage for me. I never even called to complain. They keep this up and I will have to stop all the nasty things I've been saying about them.

Steve;

No promises as yet, :) but I'll see what I can do ;). Our Region Pres (SER) was there and HE wants me to do it for a "CD" of clinics that the region is working on. It will, by the nature of the subject, be very photo intensive. :p If I can get some help on the picture taking, I may be able to get it done in a reasonable amount of time.

Hi All ! Lots happenning in here. Fergie glad that you back and that your dad is doing well. Don't talk about first cars. My brother went into the airforce and I got stuck with his 62 cutlass for my drive. It got 10 miles to the gallon and a quart of gas. well gotta get going and finish making my Polish Sausage. By the way did anyone see that French train that ran at 357 miles per hour ? I guess it has a 25,000 horsepower engine in it !!

It wasn't my first car, but a funny (now) car experience. We lived in a little town in Kentucky and the police usually looked the other way when underage kids were driving. I wasn't quite 14 and Dad was already in Alabama working. One Sunday night, Mom let me take the 1952 Dodge truck for a date with my sweety pie. Well, we had to do some smooching so I found an old country road and everything was perfect. Time to leave and ...oh! oh! I'm stuck.
I walked up the road to a little country church and saw a friend's Dad's truck sitting there. I discretely went in and told him what happened and he said he would help, but it would be about 30 minutes. I walked back to the truck and to my honey, then waited. All of a sudden there were headlights coming from everywhere . My friends Dad and all of the congregation showed up to get me unstuck. Gads! We were so embarrassed. They were all laughing and thought it was cute, but it didn't help turn the color of my face back to normal.:D :D

Woo Hoo got a call form the local True Value Hardware/lumber store for an interview yesterday. It would be a nice job to have, only 10 minutes form home versus the 35 minute drive I have now for Woodcraft. The big hangup may be my shoulder surgery. I will just have to tell them I want the job but may not do any heavy lifting until after Apr 11th my next appt with the Doc.

Nice Larry, go for it if you can.

An early experience with me and a mate in his T-bucket, cops pulled us over for something (excessive noise from rear tyres probably) as the cop leaned over and looked at us he put his hand on the very hot exhaust headers!! He didn't say much just mumbled something and took off in his car!!

Ouch thats gotta hurt.

Ken.
