Hello all. Just thought I'd pop in and say Hi. I must say that there is some rather interesting talk on the forum this week. In fact see some are "branching out" so to speak.:D Sorry Rex,couldn't help it. Yeah, right. The reason I haven't been on the forums much is,I am temporarily offline, except for my Stepmother's computer.Until I get new internet service,I won't be online much.I hope everybody is okay, and things are going okay. I'll check in every so often,so I am still around folks, just not online. Talk to y'all later. William.

I just finished installing decoders in an Athearn BB F7A and a new E6A. Tested them both and they run like champs, so I assigned them individual addresses and put them to work on the layout.

Morning all,

William good to see you again William,,, Yep REX has been having a TREEmendous time of late

Jeffery sounds like you have DCC decoder instalation off to a fine art now, did you ever find out what was making those other trains you got buzz

Hi guys,

After the first two lectures at the Railroad Prototype Modelers meet I thought I was way out of my league. The first was a lecture on hoppers of the B&O from 1919-1963 and the second was variations in the AAR boxcars. They went through all the features: handrails, ladders, tow loops, etc. Then the listed the most likely models these variations could be kit-bashed from.

But some were guys with basement layouts that talked about the design principles they used in developing their layouts. A really good one was a lecture on modeling the steel industry.

The cool thing is I got invited to join a group that did ops about 45 minutes from where I live. I'll only be running on one layout, but the owner seems to be plugged in to a group of 6-7 other guys with basement sized layout that do ops.

I was really hoping to meet some people interested in ops. My club wouldn't even work together to make the track work.

Now it looks like I've found some like-minded individuals.

Yea!

Topping off party

Good morning everyone

We finished pouring the roof on the 47th floor yesterday and had our topping off party. It was on the news the other day that New York's Metro North which is the old PC's Hudson,Harlem and New Haven lines has 550,000 riders a day. Who says passenger service is dead. I guess that's why they need so many of these new high rises. We just have to strip the forms that are shown in the photo and then across the street to do another.

Greetings all,

An overcast morning here in central MD. Lots of honey dues on the list, but maybe - just maybe - I can get some mrr related stuff done too!

George - that's quite a shot, I get dizzy looking at it. I wish I'd had my camera with me Wednesday - I saw some guys standing on top of a round water tower, installing a dish antenna. Talk about a slippery slope---I sure hope they had lifelines attached!

Steve, have you recovered from your birthday binge yet?

Chip, it appears your mission [to 'connect' with area modelers] was a success - hope it works out! Do you remember the name of the guy doing the steel mill presentation? Might be somebody I know...

Rex, sounds like those trees are still making you crazy - better stay indoors where its safe, and work on that extension;)

We have to tie off. If you don't then the only other thing that might save you are the nets three floors below.

Mornin' Bill!

Looks like a crowd here this morning. George, great photo from 47 stories up! I worked for Rochester Telephone 2 summers when I was in college. I got a couple tours of the rooftop of the Xerox Office tower when it was built (I was one of the grunts who was prewireing it for phone lines). That was plenty high enough for me. I can't imagine you guys that actually work up there....... I don't go any higher than the roof of my ranch house these days.

Chip, sounds like you had an interesting day. Being invited to an ops group is a fantastic find. Hope it works out well for you.

In the case of the AC4400 it was a bad motor. Replaced it with an Athearn BB motor and it runs great now. As for a buzzing problem with a RS3 that was a faulty decoder.

Hi All ! Pretty busy here, Chip glad that you found smoe like minded railroaders. George looks like quite a building project there, Steve looks like your enjoying your Holiday, Jeffrey glad to see you got some new workhorses ,And to everyone I missed have a nice Saturday ! Looks like I have to do some chores myself !

Evening all, happy to see everybody here and keeping busy.

Well after we put the house deal together the other night (the new folks want some garage space) we needed to have a clean out so we rented some storage space and moved some essential stuff.

The whole layout is now dismantled down to lengths of wood and screws

We have also taken two loads to the dump. one more weekend to go and they are moving in!!

Heres the all the bench work I painstakingly built in the back of the trailer!!

Ken.
