Good morning folks

It is 45 F and we are waiting for rain. Temperature is supposed to go up to 51 F.

No modeling last night as we had Cub Scout Pack Meeting.

I am home right now. I am scheduled to get my foot X-rayed this morning. The pain which had been manageable and similar to the pain I had with the bone spur in the other foot suddenly changed a few days ago. The medication is no longer for the pain is no longer effective. At times the pain has been a 11 out of 10.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning Bill. Carl , Jeffrey & Tom!! Wow sure glad that spring has arrived . That way the rain and snow mix their perdicting for tonight won't feel so bad ! Well have to get off to the supermarket and do some banking so gotta run . Just hope that everyone has a real nice day !! A Space Odessey ~

I had a very humbling experience last night.

Good Morning!

Just before I got off work yesterday, I got a call from a couple of ladies from our church. They wanted to come over and visit, see how we're doing, and so on. I told them when I'd be home and I'd see them then, no biggie. Well, about 15 minutes after I get home, the doorbell rings. I find them standing on the porch with bags and bags of groceries! As soon as I open the door they ask where the kitchen is, so I point the way. Five minutes later they're standing in my kitchen with me, the countertops covered with groceries, and they're telling me that if I'll name the time, they'll be over every day for the next two weeks to cook us dinner! They don't want us doing any of it! Now we only started going to this church about 9 months ago, so we don't know a lot of people real well, so right then, you could've knocked me over with a feather. My mother happened to be there helping out my wife and was blown away as well. I just couldn't help but think of Romans 12:10 as I was standing there. It was very humbling to have these beautiful people give, not only of themselves, but also out of their own supplies and of their own time & money.

So we had chili last night for dinner. It was already made when they brought it over, and they wanted to serve us, but they have families of their own, so I told them I could more then handle that and I sent them home to their families. They'll be back tonight around 6pm. I don't know whats for dinner, but you know what? I really don't care. I'm really looking forward to just getting to know these folks better. These fine ladies are just the type of people the Bible talks about, so I can't wait to get to know them!

Oh, and check this! My wife worked for many years and, like everyone else, paid into Social Security. Five years ago she could not work any more due to her physical disabilities, and she's been trying to get her disability money that she paid in to SS for the last 3 years. She's been flat denied every step of the way, even though she's clearly disabled and has even gone so far as to have DNA testing to prove her condition and it's severity (You can't "fake" a DNA test ya know!). So we ended up taking SS to court to get her benefits, which include a decent monthly check, but more importantly, allows her to get medicare for her doctors bills. Well, the court date was the middle of this last January. We just got word yesterday......SHE WON! She took Uncle Sam to court and won! Not only that, but it looks like they're going to start her monthly checks within the next couple of months. To top that off, the judge stipulated that since she's been disabled for 5 years, even though she's only claiming three years, he's going to split the difference and he's ordered SS to pay her all of the benefits she would've had (retro) for the last 4 years! He said that if he was allowed to give her all 5 years he would've, but I guess he couldn't. Still!!!!! How awesome is that!?!

I really just want to say one thing to all of you this morning. Take the time today to love those around you, but most of all, take the time to show some of that love to God.

Oh, and prayers for Tom! Hope that foot gets better!

I stopped at the post office on the way into work. They were holding a box for me from Intermountain. It looks like I got some more boxcars to weather eventually.

Phillip
Nice to hear about the outcome for wife with Social Security. My mother went through a similar thing. She had Parkinson’s Disease before it was well know. She was unable to work and had to stop driving. There were times where she could not move without assistance. It took us four years and several hearings before we convinced SS that Parkinson’s was disabling. Twice after that SS tried to revoke her disability benefits saying that reviewed her case and that Parkinson’s was not considered disabling. Both time it got no further than our attorney sending them a copy of the court’s findings. The difference didn’t change her benefit check (she was getting survivor’s benefits from my father); but it gave the Medicare coverage which paid for the medication she needed.

Good Morning everyone!

Philip, great news all around. Whether "ordained" or not, looks like you have some true Deacons doing His work in your church! I always tell people that it is "Better to give than receive". Actually it is also a lot more fun. I bet those ladies are enjoying every minute of it! Every now and then our Justice system does work like it is supposed to......... Glad that has been resolved in your favor.

Tom I hope you get that foot taken care of and the pain stopped. Ouch! I always though 11 was reserved for kidney stones.......

Last night I found out that the mic problem is actually either the transmitter or the receiver not the microphone that plugs into it. So...... This morning I ordered another $600 unit to replace it. It was 12 years old and has seen hard use so I don't feel too bad. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow for me to use on Friday night for the show. (Crosses fingers and bows head....) We had about 30 kids from a nearby school attend the rehearsal last night. In the opening scene (Tradition) I move from Tevye's body pack to the general mics on the front of the stage. Last night I had feedback as soon as I kicked on the stage mics. Never happed before in the scene and everything was set the same.....?????? With people in the house, it should reduce the chance of feedback.... go figure.

Hope you all have a great day!

Philip It'll all be worth it for him in the end :)

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLDER AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE.

George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked 'Is someone in your house?' and he said 'no'. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when available. George said, 'Okay,' hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. 'Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them.' Then he hung up. Within five minutes six police cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George: 'I thought you said that you'd shot them!' George said, 'I thought you said there was nobody available!' (True Story)

I LOVE IT - Don't mess with older people.

Hey Philip, even though your son is in three casts, at least the casts look as cool as they can.

Nice story on the "old" guy too. I have heard that before and can't help but chuckle every time I hear it again.

Steve~ Nice looking loco, should be a pretty nice ride in June.

Well our trip is complete. Over 1800 miles in 6 days.

Fri March 21st: worked till 8PM. On the road at 9PM to just north of Lexington KY.

Sat Mar 22nd: arrived in Myrtle Beach SC around 5PM after only 4 hours of sleep. Darn cheap motels and their hard as a rock mattresses. Around 6:30PM we drive around trying to find a Catholic Church which we do not find.

Sun Mar 23rd: make a couple of phone calls and find out that St Andrew's was having Mass at the Palace Theater at Broadway on the Beach. We had never been to Broadway on the Beach but that did not stop us. When we got there the place held between 1800 and 2000 people. WOW. This was one of my best Easter experiences ever.

Mon 24th: just a day where we did not do a whole lot besides it was COLD.

Tues 25th: Went to the Ripley's Aquarium. To me a rip of at $18 per person and it only took my wife and I about 35 minutes to wee the whole thing. My brothers wife and his oldest daughter read every word on every plaque that was in the place. He made it back to the house about 3 1/2 hours later than we did.

Weds 25th: On the road again to Cookeville TN to see an Aunt that had recently gotten married. We met our new uncle and what a character he is. A very nice old guy who treats my aunt like a queen. She deserves it.

Thurs 26th: there is a RR depot in Cookeville so before heading home we stop to see it. we get there a half hour before opening so we walk around town to see what it is like in a small southern town. A very clean and nice place to visit. As we are heading back to the depot my wife sees a hobby store. We go in and his main thrust is model trains. OH BOY just what I needed. I did not see anything I could use or needed but my wife found a whole bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine stuff at reduced prices. She spent about $85 and retail was over $125. The depot has been restored along with a Baldwin 2-8-0 steam engine and a Central Tennessee Caboose along with a L & N restored Caboose. The gift shop had a very nice large size T shirt which I am now the proud owner of. We headed toward home and after our hobby store and depot visits almost broke but happy with the bargains we got.

The warmest day we had was the day we got to Myrtle Beach 74 degrees. The next warmest was the day we left there and it was 60 degrees. This morning as we left Tennessee it was 64. When I pulled into the drive here at home it was 44 degrees with a northerly wind and rain. YUCK Glad to be home after sitting in the car for over 29 hours this week.

Good morning everyone.

Temps are currently sitting at 20F with a projected high of 40F today. We received another 1.5" of snow yesterday  but, it should melt fairly soon. Still had to get the bicycle out for a one hour ride yesterday though, I am finally getting cabin fever real bad.

Good morning folks

It was 44 F as I headed out the door this morning. We are going up to 58 F with rain.

I got the X-Ray results and it is a bone spur in my heel. Next step is to get in and see a foot and ankle specialist. So I will be making that appointment this morning.

I entered some more equipment into computer inventory.

This weekend is kid/scout crazy. Tonight my daughter has a Girl Scout event at a ceramics painting shop. Tomorrow, both Cub scouts and Girls Scouts will be going to the Phillies game and afterwards they get a chance to run the bases at Citizen Bank Park. Sunday we will be going to the Philadelphia Mineral and Fossil Fair where the scouts get in free.

At some point I will try to enter more equipment into the computer inventory. I still have not figured out which weathering, building, or other type project I will begin next.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all!

And just how does this morning find you? Well I hope.

Kind of a cold, wet one around here, but it's supposed to clear up later.

Had a nice dinner last night. A lady from our chuch came over and fixed it for us. We had cheeseburgers and fries. She seemed nice. We talked a bit about our church and our families while she cooked. It was nice to just sit back for a change since I usually do all the cooking when I get home from work. I guess she's coming back tonight, or maybe it's someone else. Who knows? I just think it's so nice that these folks would do this.

So I'm only doing a half day today. I have to take the wife and boy up to see the surgeon for a checkup this afternoon. I'm thinking that he'll get his hand cast removed and she'll probably be allowed to start putting a little weight on her leg so she can start walking again. All good signs!

Oh well, I'd best run!

Later!

Yonker's trains station apartments

Hello everyone, Well I'm back home again. I was helping finish up 1200 apartments at the Yonker train station. Everyone wants to live next to a train station here in New York. The gas you know. We parked next to the tracks and even at 6 am all the trains that went by were full.
