Afternoon, everyone.

Steve, sorry to hear about your brother getting laid off. Are you saying you are in another group that might be laid off next week or do you know for sure. I hope it's not the latter. :( Maybe if we can hold another G20 meeting and get Argentina and Thailand to kick in an extra thousand bucks, we can solve this whole crisis.

David, I've tried those easy loaders and they always end up damaging the magazine lip. Without getting too much into politics, one of the reasons I left California was the increasing restrictions of citizen rights, including the right to protect yourself and your family. Alabama doesn't have some of the nut case people running things that we have in California.

Chris, Rex does have kind of a scary look with that hammer and nail gun. I think I could have handled him with a taser rather than shooting him though. :)

Rex, it got down to 29 here so you were a little colder than us. My poor banana tree is looking pretty sad so I guess it's time to cut it back and wait for spring again. It's breezy and the humidity is only 24%. With the small amount of rain we've gotten, I'm surprised we haven't had more fires breaking out.

ICG, there does seem to be a lot of model railroaders who are also into guns. I don't know what that means but I know I'll never try to filch a locomotive during a layout visit.

Phillip, I got them all right except the bus driver question so I guess I'm only progressing slowly into senility. :)

Corey, it was the same temperature in Minneapolis as it was in Montgomery for a few hours last night. Thankfully, I don't have an entire winter of that to look forward to.

Hope everyone has a good a day as they can. It's my wife's birthday today so she gets to go out to her favorite Mexican restaurant and wear the big sombrero while the staff sings Happy Birthday in Spanish. Don't ask me why but she actually loves that kind of thing. :D

Good Afternoon to all,
It was pretty comfortable this morning so I didn't even look at the temp, actually on the warm side.

Old's Test:
Well I'm glad to report that I didn't miss one of the trick questions, the last one though I had to reread the beginning and then the light went on execept I couldn't remember my own name. Is that BAD?? The question about the different color houses was a double trick question as he refered to what a house that was Green in color was made from but then intentionly misspelled/missinterpreted the word creating a different type of structure too doubly fool everyone, not me.

Rex, I like your activity order, Gun & Run, Sounds good to Me! I'm not sure if your aware or not but you can get other drop-in barrels to change the caliber and in some cases such as with the .357 Sig. use the same Mags as the 40, also a 9mm barrel will drop right in also but I think you have to get other Mags?
Another source for Glock items is Lone Wolf in Oregon or Washington.

Rex, if you had the dogs on some kind of wire mesh of about 3/8" to 1/2" that should stop them from digging but it would almost have to be a cage I guess or at least 5 sides.

Jim, Your very correct about what your saying as I think they are Nut cases too. I wrote Feinstein one time about the Asualt Weapon Ban issue and you should have seen the manipulative crap letter I received back. To anyone not familiar with guns it would sound plausible but to anyone with a little knowledge of guns you could see right through the bunch of B S she was doling out to the Citizens as if she knew what she was talking about. NOT!!!! She even had the audacity to say that a Semi-Automatic Weapon would Fire Repeatedly On It's Own & Without Warning! What an IDIOT and yet shes' sending this information out to others as though it factual!!!

Have a good day ALL!

No work was done on the RR yesterday as I had items to quote prices on from my add so that took me all evening to get that done and sent off. Maybe today after I sleep a bit more.

Rex- That picture of your nail gun was bad, but the knees scared me so bad I have just now recovered.

Steve B.- We like to complain about our jobs and working conditions until they suddenly go away. I went through one layoff years ago, and it took me several days to realize it was not my fault for being laid off.
I was called back three months later; after I had found another job... at lesser pay. Let us know how it goes for you.

Chris- In 1998, I was transferred to Wadsworth, Ohio, 15 miles west of Akron and 40 miles south of Cleveland. I was right on the edge of the lake-effect snowbelt. I was the only one out of 23 people to transfer to "a consolidation of Engineering and Marketing departments. The division VP lost his job over that decision. Four years later, me and 6 "Yankees" transferred back South. I enjoyed touring the Amish farm country, bought some beautiful handmade furniture, and loved the local train history. I even went down to the Cass Scenic Railroad in West Virginia for a fall "turning of the leaves" ride behind a Shay.
At times, a snow blower is as necessary as a car. Snow shovels cause blisters!
Well, it is time to check if the ACC is dry on the HO scale white metal 1940's crawler I'm gluing to the workbench.
Have a good one!!
Mikey

I had a pleasant little surprise in today's mail. In 1978, an insurance salesman talked me into an annuity plan even though it was hard to make ends meet. I made the initial payment of $68 and that was all. I soon forgot about it...until today. It will mature this January and is a total of $641.89. HOT DANGED! Play money! Ya-Hoo! (just wish I had invested more :D)

Ok guys! From now on I promise to wear knee pads or some of these droppy calf length shorts/pants with my teddy bear printed, boxers showing. LOL:D

Chris: That was my "Yeah, that's right, I'm bad." look.

Evenin' everybody,

I shouldn't be up so late but I'm buzzin' with excitement - I just had my first-ever op session earlier this evening. 3 guest operators, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves! This is definitely a milestone for the Iron Belt, and for me...

BTW Jim/Mikey/Chris - my layout is patterned after the Cleveland/Lorain and Wheeling Subdivision of CSX [B&O] - which runs right near where you guys use to live!

Rex - I'm totally envious (j/k)! ;) I'm sure you'll put it to good use, be sure and post some pix when you do!

David, it's amazing. I've carried a gun almost every day of my life for 30 years and I've never shot anyone (thankfully) or had the gun jump out of the holster and start going off by itself. I must have gotten one of the non-defective weapons. :) Does Dianne still have a CCW, BTW? That kind of lowered her currency with the Brady Bunch.

Chris, I think that was just Rex's "Bad Boy" look. I suspect he's actually reasonably harmless. That ground hog with the Vulcan mini-gun is kind of scary though.

Mikey, there are some beautiful areas in northern Ohio but you wouldn't get me back up there on a bet. It's just stopped snowing in Cleveland and it's about to start again tomorrow. They had a record low of 14 at Akron last night. I'll take Alabama anytime.

Ken, glad to hear you had a good ops session. I'm sure good planning played a big part. Indeed, the B&O tracks used to run about two miles from my house. I'm just old enough to remember steam on both the B&O and NKP. Those were the days.

It's 41 now, so a little warmer than last night at this time. Still better than being in Cleveland. :D

Good Morning All,
Say Ken, Glad to hear you had a great time at your Op-Ssession, I'm sure they can be a
enjoyable.

Say Rex, Don't go Hog Wild with your new found fortune now!

Say Jim, It is rather odd you, Rex, I and millions of others have never had anything like she perports happen to us??? It's like I told her she had created a new class of weapon that didn't even exist let alone firing the hundreds of rounds a minute whe she had limited us to 10 round Magazines. Good Luck! Just how fast can one reload and how many magazines can they carrry?

Hope everyone has a good day.

PERSONAL NOTE
Well, It's cooooold here! I like cold but you can keep it. The FROST it burns the grass and stops it from growing! I don't like the temps getting lower than 40*.

I err on the side of caution!:o
I'm tring to figure out is Rex more like the Groundhog with the vulcan or little boy or Chenny on the 10 pump BB Gun?

Rex, Your one dangerous Cat! You have to be one bad @$$ to wear short like that with those Nobby Knees popping out! I bet when you walk down the street the folks side step around you as to not set ya off:eek::DJ/K

My late dad and mom were born and grew up in Cleveland Ohio. I spent many of summer vacations there. After my Dad died, I haven't been back. I plan one day to go to see mom and dads graves and put some flowers on them:( other than that my family is stuck up and not worth visiting!
:DComrade Steve, Greeting from USSO! I'm suprised the Man hasn't caught us! They are starting to restrict our water usage! Now how am I to thin ot my Grule? We have to watch out for Comrade Rex those shorts are bright enough to see our secret code!

Good morning.

It's 50 and very foggy. the high will be in the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy.

I spent the better part of yesterday rebuilding several old freight cars. The trickiest of these was an old gondola. I have no idea who made it. The only info on it is that it was made in Taiwan. It was quite obvious that this car originally had truck mounted couplers but somewhere along the way it had been updated with body mounted couplers. Nor were the coupler pocket covers secured with screws. These were glued on so I had to carefully pry them off. As they were glued at the pin only they came off fairly quickly. Notice I didn't say easily? The horn hooks quickly disappeared into file 13 and were replaced with Kadee 148's. Reinstalling the coupler pocket cover was the tricky part as I was using Super Glue for this. I simply put the cover in place and put just a tiny drop at the back of the cover and let it flow around the sides before wicking the excess away with a paper towel. A check 10 minutes later showed that no glue got to the couplers. While I was at it I replaced the old trucks (I had no metal wheels that would fit them) with new Bachmann trucks with RP25 metal wheels. The gondola is now part of my general freight and is at this moment rolling along in 18th spot of a 20 unit train.

Good morning folks

It was 33 F as I headed out this morning. I ran into an intense snow squall just before I got to the office. High today will be 43 F. The weather guessers are calling for a 50% chance of less than a half inch of snow overnight. I wonder if this will trigger a full blown bread and milk panic. With my luck it will since we need to get milk.

We had our Cub Scout pack Meeting last night. I managed to keep my voice through the whole meeting. This virus just will not give up. Last night after the meeting I felt horrible. This morning I woke up with aches and pains and a headache. I rarely get headaches. I am so tried of coughing.

We have to go out tonight and get some supplies for our Cub Scout pack overnighter. The overnighter is Friday night at the Ashland Nature Center in Hockessin, DE.

No trains.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning to All,
It 42*F here in Coarsegold, CA. and clear skys.

I had to replace my MRR Suply ad but it seems to be doing great already with a number of inquires which is good so maybe everything worked out for the best!

I didn't get a chance to work on the layout yesterday but hopefully today.

Oh Flo, good morning, I'll just have some coffee, the Hazelnut flavor if you have some brewed and a sweet roll, Bear Claw if you would and I see what else after that, Thanks.

Say Jim, I don't know if you ever saw the picture of DF talking to a large audiance in a convension center while holding an AK47 and expounding on the Vial Weapopn, her finger on the trigger and pointing the barrel down into the crowd! Really tells you just how much gun safety she's aware of, NONE!!!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Ken, glad your first Op session was a success. It is always more fun with playmates. I used to always worry about every little thing, but realized that an MR understands that things go wrong when company arrives.

Steve: If you are talking about getting a buy-out at the job, that would be nice boost to your moving expenses. Might get you going sooner?
BTW: You are a bad boy....hehehe

Ok fellows, my sweet wifey says I have sexy knees and that you are just jealous, so there :p!
