Finally got all the track cleaned and everything checked out. Tomorrow, I will start the housekeeping and then I will be ready for the ARG Wild Bunch.:D So far, I've had 6 confirm and waiting on 3 more; how about you Carey, you going to make it?

Josh: ZOWY! That's a bunch of posts. Think of all the time the top 10 could have been working on their "I'll get it later" projects.:D

Steve: Don't worry about not understanding the rules of football. My wife is one heck of a fan and doesn't know much either, but you should hear her yelling and carrying on.

Paul: I wonder what David Letterman (a grad of Ball) has to say. He was joking about a matchup between Alabama and Ball State.

Dan: I am already cold enough. Your weather would do me in, but a little snow every now and then would be nice.

Ken: Gator Dave and I have been at each other for weeks now. Funny that my email of conseding got lost in the system.
Looking forward to seeing your cement plant. I'll bet it's a dandy.

Jim: I thought about you sitting at Legion Field when I walked outside after the game. Man, it was a chill to the bone. I wish that it had worked out that Tuscaloosa County High had made it to play Prattville. I asked a young man that plays on the team what happened. He told me that for some reason they get burned out near the end of the season and nothing goes right from there.

Chris: Our first year in Bangkok, my wife and I laughed about the locals wearing coats when it was their winter:around 70 in the early mornings. The following year we had our coats on. LOL

Holy cow, Josh, you're right. I guess being retired or working the night shift leads to having no life. :)

Chris, sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday. Maybe someday the CRAP PST people can help solve this problem. :)

Ken, I would have been happy just to hear him speak. I'm sure he was just as engaging in person as in his writing. As far as your programming issue, think about it as you fall asleep. You still won't have the answer but you'll come up with it ten minutes after you sit down at the computer. Don't ask me why this works but it always did for me.

Dan, nothing like those single digit temps and crunchy snow to get you in the Christmas spirit. I've got to agree with Chris about the blood thing though. After 35 years in the warm weather of California and almost three years in the (mostly) warm weather here, any cold seems much worse than it is. I can remember running around in shorts and T-shirt on those rare winter days in Cleveland when it would get up to 45. Now, 45 is near the limit that human life can be sustained.

Rex, I'm glad you're doing all the heavy lifting and we just get to run trains. :) It was darn cold at Legion field and those aluminum benches don't help any. I'm glad TCH ran out of steam or we probably would have been steamrollered. I don't think Hoover is as good as TCH and they came within six seconds of beating us. I'd sure hate to be that poor field goal kicker. He made two good medium long field goals and then shanked a 22 yarder. Went from a hero to a goat in a heartbeat. I'll bet he doesn't get much attention from the female students for the rest of the year. :)

Jeffery, that's still a lot more than I've been able to do for the past 6 months.

Good morning folks

It was a much warmer 31 F as compared to yesterday’s 19 F as I headed onto the clogged roads to nowhere this morning. High today will be 52 F with rain. Tomorrow’s high will be around 60 F with rain! On Thursday we could be in for a big snow storm or not. I guess it depends on where the wheel of weather lands when the local weather guessers spin it.

Getting to work was a treat (not) this morning. A truck jack-knifed southbound on the I-476 below the exit I get on. Southbound was basically closed and northbound down to one lane. With all the traffic dumping off it gridlocked the local road system. The back roads I normally use to get to I-476 were jammed. I had to turn around twice and bushwhack. My normal 40 minute commute took close to an hour and a half.

We finished decorating the Christmas tree. My son continued “testing” the HO trains that he will be setting up under the tree.

I actually did some modeling, not much. I re-glued a figure to a tender. I upgraded the couplers to Kadees on two P2K Mather stock car kits I built a couple of months ago. They are now ready for weathering. I got the parts out the box for another P2K Mather stock car kit. This one is a double door version. I took out of the box and assembled a P2K PRR E8A that has been sitting on the work bench for longer than I want to think about.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning all!

So it's one of those mornings when I haven't slept well, don't know why, and I've got a lot going on today. No problem, a second wind should be moving in about any time! And besides......coffee is my FRIEND!

Hey, check it out! We might see the 50's today! It'll be raining, so no motorcycle riding, but it's the 50's! Looks like I might get a short ride on Saturday though. Supposed to be in the 40's and sunny. I'll ride in that!

Josh Wahey, your streets ahead of me mate, you have twice as many posts :) ;) :)
BTW, saw the F/A 18 go down on TV, not near your place i hope.

Ken look forward to seeing the final model, should be fantastic if it's anything like the steel works of yours

Well I think we came out with like 3-4 inches of snow. It really piled up.

Jim: Yeah I can understand the blood thing. In the summer we get around 85-90 degrees. And this year it went down quickly. After months of living in the heat (lived in porch all summer), the cold does me in. Come mid January I will be out of the coat and just wearing sweatshirts everyday.

I missed a few great photo-ops these last few days. I live and work next to a UP line and yard. The other day I saw an interesting MOW truck heading to the truck wash. It was one of those vacuum trucks. Brand new. I did manage to snap a pic on my phone, but it didn't come out too well, as I was still driving and it was turning. Today I drove past a MOW crew using leaf blowers too clean out the snow around a switch. I find it funny because it was on a siding that rarely gets used. Best part, 2 guys were outside doing it, and the 3rd was sitting in the truck.

Evening, everyone.

Jeffrey, keep your ear on the weather radio. Looks like a bad bunch of storms over you now and it's headed our way. I think it's going to be a long night.

Dan, the guy sitting in the truck was the shop steward. :)

Tom, I sure miss all the fun I had commuting...NOT! Hope your ride home was better.

Phillip, I hope the coffee did its job. Where is that locomotive? Someone did a nice job with the lights.

Chris, just remember I will deny everything if the CRAP hits the fan. :)

Looks like the heavy weather is over Louisiana and Mississippi right now but there are smaller squall lines forming in advance of the front. Rex, it looks like a pretty good bunch went through T-Town in the last hour. The high today was 73 and it's still 65 now with stiff south winds. All the ingredients are in place for severe storms overnight except a little dry air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere. The precipitable water column extends all the way up to 40,000 feet, which is really unusual for December. That may limit the intensity of the storms but may also produce narrow bands of squall lines with a high enough lapse rate to produce rotation from any severe storms that do form. The wife says I have to stay up tonight if the weather radio starts going off so she doesn't have to listen to the dang thing. :)

The weather here has done a complete section 8! It's one storm after another! It's let up for a while now but there's more on the way. Already the power has gone out three times and I lost count of how many times the cable internet has gone down. Seems like every time I look up the modem is going offline.

Jim, Don't worry their punishment will be swift and largely unseen! There's so many ways to get rid of some one with out a trace!!!!!!!!

Jeffrey, glad to hear you're doing OK considering. There have been about 40 reported tornados in Louisiana today and a couple of dozen more in Mississippi. I hope it lets up some before it gets here.

A few heavy rains have hit this area, but nothing severe yet. The squall line, located about 35 miles west of here, is starting to break up again and form individual thunderstorm cells creating greater danger to the area. There has already been several tornado warnings west and the north part of my county. Jim, they said there was a very high wind shear going on that is causing much rotation, particularly a bit north of here. An interesting fact: it is 1 a.m. and the temperature is rising and presently at 71 degrees.
Wow! The lighting has really picked up now...almost blinding. Oh crap the warnings just went off. Best go see what that is all about.

I guess someone got trigger happy. The possible tornado circulation was moving across the NW part of the county, about 15 miles from here. You know, I look at the weather radar and listen to the weather guys talk about: this is wind shear, this is circulation, this is, this is. All the pixels and stuff look just like other parts to me. Guess those college boys really do know something.:D
Well, guess I will pull duty and monitor the weather. There will probably be more warnings for a couple of hours.

I'm up with you, Rex. Either the lightning detector system just stopped working or all the storms are losing convective potential. I suspect it's a problem with the system, looking at all the red on radar. So far, all the severe weather has stayed up your way with the main front just about to coross into Alabama. A secondary squall line ahead of the front has formed just west of us and should be here in the next hour. I'm hoping the main squall line misses us. We're under a tornado watch until 8 am. The temperature here has fluctuated between 66 and 68 over the last few hours and the dew point is 63. The barometer is still falling and we're still getting gusty winds form the south. We have all the ingredients in place except for better sheer, which seems to happening only in the narrow squall line of the front itself. This is the mostly likely area to produce tornados and it it looks like you will have a greater threat than us, at least for now. By 0330, we should now if this thing is going to do something or just rain. I'm hoping for rain. :)
