Afternoon, tea bubbling away on the cooker, no kid's, wife at work, pity i have to pick them up later, it's so nice and quiet.

Good Morning to All,
I had this all written before and lost everything somehow?

It's a cool 42*F again here in the foot hills of Coarsegold at 1,875 ft elevation and it's again getting cloudy so possibly more rain later today or tonight?

Jeffery,
It's very important for you to take Acidophilus when taking Anti-botic to replenish all the good germs the Anti-boitic kills off. Just be sure to wait about 2 hours after taking the Anti-Biotic to take the Acidophlius A lpcal health food store should have the, 'Now' brand of, 'Gr8-Dophilus' which is much better than regular Acidophilus. Also taking Honey & Cinimon can be very beneficial, Honey in smaller doses won't hurt your Diabeties there is a lot more I wanted to send you.

Say Rex,
It interesting to know you too used to ride a bike, great fun but you always have to watch out for the cars as they generally don't look out for you, I'm sure you too had your close calls, it's No-Fun when it happens. I'll stick to my Eclipse Turbo Sports Coupe - it's a lot of fun to drive and passing is Right-Now!

Phillip,
That's a nice looking bike, looks similiar to a Harley but there are so many now that look similiar.

Afternoon, everyone.

Jeffrey, the first couple of days on antibiotics always make me feel like crap too. It'll be worth it keep you out of the hospital though.

Chris, Ray beat me to it. Your train room looks like my daughter's bedroom on a good day. :)

Rex, I've seen some of those Alabama/Auburn joke books. Some of those jokes get a little below the belt at times. Did you hear about the two people shot and killed down by Evergreen Sunday in an arguement over the Bama/LSU game? It's great that the people of Alabama are so loyal to their schools but it does get out of hand at times. It's still only football, which is a very small blip on the big radar screen of life.

Ray, I've never had much luck or faith in external hard drives. They seem to fail for no particular reason, leaving all your data stranded and a big hole in your wallet. I use thumb drives for backup now and they've been very reliable.

My dad died three years ago yesterday. He spent three miserable, dangerous years in the Pacific as a motor machinist's mate in the bowels of a PT boat. He always acted like it was no big deal but I know it was. Thanks to all the men and women who have served our country, some making the ultimate sacrifice, so we have the freedoms we still cherish today.

Right you are Jim. What seems to go bad is the link between the external drive and its hard drives. That said my son still says LaCie is the most dependable. I have had some problems with the card for downloading photos crashing the Mac (Dark screen of death) while the drive was up and running. That is bery likely the cause of the problems, but all my diagnostic [programs say the disk is fine. Unfortunately my 160 Gig built in HD is getting full so i will probably put in a 1 Tb second internal HD soon. I can then do away with the external one.

Well...... I went over to the "very big" Medical Associates LLP and was told that I don't have an appointment. The lady at the desk took my word that I did and did some checking. She found that I should have been scheduled for the appointment but evidentally whoever put it in the computer didn't hit return or something. She debated having me wait until the Doc would be back from rounds at the Hospital (next door) but finally decided to reschedule for 2 weeks from now. She was very sympathetic and upset that there was a problem. This is the first time this has happened there so I will be forgiving...;) I just found the appointment card sitting by my computer that says I had an appointment this afternoon.

Yeah, Jim that was the headline but further statements said both were drunk an the football game was only a trigger to existing bad feelings.

Today i am sorry to say some low life scumbag beat up an 89 year old veteran of WW2 in his own home, while the world stood silent he lay on the floor, him bleeding to death her unable to get out of bed. A family member found them both, later they went on national TV asking for help to catch the one's who did it. How can anyone do such a thing is way beyond me. Both of them are in hospital recovering.

I got the train room cleaned! Now, I need cash to start it! Here's the cleaned up room! The last pic is my work benches in the garage!

Good Aftrernoon Everyone,

Jim,
Sorry to hear about your father passing, it's always a loss! It took me the longest time to get over my father's passing in 1989, it isn't easy and I think of him often, he was in both the Army and the Navy, he loved boats/ships but only set foot on one transport boat in the Navy.

I'm sure you'll think of your Dad often too.

Steve B,
Sure does make you wonder what this world is comming to.

Rex,
As Jim says that getting a bit carried away but if there were hard feelings prior that could well expalin their actions albeit unfortunate!

Better to be Rail Roading! I think we can all agree on that!

Take care.

Chris Wow, you have a railroad in a fish tank, how you gonna power that, more to the point what are you going to run ;) :) :) :)

Well, I just got a good lesson not to surf other forums!
I was checking a thread on a Corvette forum and some _ _ _ _ person asked what was the big deal about Veterans Day?:(
Happily, several people responded as to the why we should be grateful for our servicemen and women.
Therefore, let me add my personal thanks for past and present military service in Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Ghost Guard, and Reserves or Nasty Guard.
My father spent 4 years aboard a destroyer and I cannot ever remember him talking about the fighting his ship was in. Of Irish heritage, he served in several capacities, mostly demoted to Seaman Third class. He talked mostly about the pranks they pulled on each other and the places he visited on duty.

But he always spoke of his buddies with great fondness and attended 15-20 ship's reunions at various places across the country.
I spent 8 years in the Nasty Guard (National Guard) and still see 3 or 4 guys in my old unit. The military is an education in itself.
Thanks again, Vets!!
Mikey

Look's like it's in a tank! It's a display layout of sorts.......Sad it's days are numbered! But the train room will be full of layout:D

Chris, nice clean up job. I kind of like that display layout in the fish tank idea. It would be a nice thing to take around to things like nursing homes for Christmas to show the old folks some trains. Do me a favor though - take those guns down off the workbench wall and store them somewhere else. I know they are only paint ball guns but, if the cops get called to your house for some reason, seeing those would make my pucker factor would go up by about 99%. Sometimes, in the heat of a situation, our eyes don't always see reality and there's no point in making Florida cops more nervous than they already are. :)

Rex, you and I know that popping back some brewskis's and getting plastered is an integral part of watching football for a lot of people here. There are plenty of people sober who will get into a fistfight over their favorite teams. Alcohol just makes the fight more deadly. It's not something we should just write off as part of football season in Alabama.

Mikey, I'm sure your dad was just like mine. He did his duty, came back home, got married and had kids, and it was over as far as the war was concerned. I managed to get a copy of his boat's logs from 1943 to 1944 and they were out every night shooting up Japanese landing barges in New Guinea and the Solomon's. The Japanese had armored barges that were more heavily armed than the PT boats and they came back almost every night with a hole in the hull somewhere. They were routinely attacked by Japanese fighters as well. I'd have been scared to death the whole time but he treated it as just part of his job as little gear in the big wheel of the War.

David, sorry for your loss also. I do often think of my father often and hope I've turned out to be the man he wanted me to be.

Steve, I can't believe this:

<<Det Insp Groombridge appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"Even those in or on the periphery of crime cannot surely condone this behaviour and I particularly appeal to the criminal fraternity to call time on this and do what is right," he said. <<

Surely he's kidding. The members of the crime "fraternity" (first time I've heard it called that) do this kind of thing every day and it's not a big deal to them. They'd beat up a defenseless old guy in heartbeat if they throught there was a few quid in it. Unfortunately, the British Government has made it so that everyone is defenseless but the thugs. I have the feeling that a 9mm on the bedstand would have "called time" to this incident long before the police got there.

Ray, an internal drive will be a lot more reliable than the external. Who would have ever thought we'd need a terrabyte of storage for our home computers?

Anyway, it was another nice day down here, with of 77 and a few high clouds drifting over from what I hope will be an approaching rain front. Things get a little tricky down here now as we start to head into out peak severe storm season so every front bears watching but this one looks like it may just give us some much needed rain...if it ever gets here. It's so dry that trees are starting to chase the dogs around. :D

Jeeze Jim, this is not something tolerated nor is it unique to Alabama and definitely is not limited to football. Fights and shootings over sports events happen everywhere. Go to your beloved California and start degrading USC and see what happens; go to NYC and do the same about the Yankees or Mets. Of course if you really want to use your Glock, do this in a low-life bar in either one of these places.;)

KenL: did you see the Walthers notice about the new steel industry kits.

What else would you run in a tank, but a U-boat!
Mikey

Don't laugh;) I use to have a mini sub I bought from wallie world to run in my fish tanks! The sub only measured 2"x2". Dang thing was neat. stoped working some time ago. I still have it.

:D

Ya, the clean up job went easier than planed! Got a long way to go before I can think of Laying any tracks.....work will progress as the money come available. As for the Airsoft guns, they stay. There legal, the muzzles have the orange paint and are unloaded and batteries removed also when you see them in person you can tell right off they are plastic fakes:). Aint no more dangerous than kitchen knives on the counter at dinner time if cops happen to come over for what ever reason:confused: both my BIL's are cop's seen them had no worries about it and said it's OK. In fact he wants to buy the MP 5........I told him no:D
