Howdee folks!
Chris, Glad to hear the wife is on the mend, and now you got an extra day or so to clean up the kitchen!! LOL!
Jeffrey, Hope your Dad feels better soon, as for the mower blade, don't feel bad. The last one I "found" took a 2 inch chunk out ouf the blade.
Rex. Glad the boobie traps are undone. Speaking of boobie traps, didja call the cheerleaders yet??
Ken, looks great! Now when are you going to start that module???
Tom, No trip to Gettysburg is complete for me without a sidetrip to Tommy Gilberts. After all, if you are doing battle with all the tourists, you should at least "relax" at a hobby shop! My son starts at Gettysburg college in the fall. Now I have even more excuses to go!!:)

Well, gotta clean up the basemen today, Grandboys are coming over tomorrow!!:D
Catch ya'all later~

It's been a little busy here today. My father came home from the ER yesterday then was taken in this morning by my mother and admitted. Seems he got worse overnight.

Hello people----:):):)

Got home from a trip to Beachville ON to get some pix of the quarries there. Left my steeltoe boots at home:mad: so spent time digging through boundaries and such---still think they'll be good---:):)

Band practice tomorrow at friends studio--little bigger there---:p:p:p

Chris How's the wife doing? Any news?

Jeff What did your father get? We got your family on our prayer list---

Have a good evenin' :p:p:D:D:D:D

Got some things from the hobby store last night. :)

A new Mid Run Kato SD40-2 in BNSF H1 - I love these pumpkins. :) also four Intermountain Trinity hoppers for my unit grain train. He had 8 more there - I bought from a 12 pack, I will probably buy them too, as well as the 6 pack of KYLE and ADM hoppers he had, plus a few more of the Atlas and IM 4750 covered hoppers to smatter through the consist. :) Real nice cars.

Sorry about the original photos! forgot to resize! duh!

He also had another Mid Run SD40-2 and a few older ATSF and BN SD's which are calling my name! There is also a Kato BNSF #9647 and Atlas SD60M #9297 which I think I need to buy as well. Oh and the BNSF B23-7. :P And then a couple of Flag UP AC's and SD70Ms and I'll be right for locos for a while. lol. Then there is the 3 5 packs of Walthers Well cars and Athearn RTR 5 packs of Bethgons too - too much to handle!!

As for the Rain Jeffery We assumed we would be ok as we are up on a hill about 300 foot above sea level however have 12" of rain in 24 hours was too much for our drainage to handle, and as our yard slopes down from the top of the yard and the neighbours the water was basically been gravity fed into our yard.

:p:p:D:D:D:D

The Doctors felt she was well enough to be sent home! well she's home and happy to be here:) My FIL&MIL are comming over first thing tomarrow morning to help take care of her. I got's a few yards to cut then I can take over in the afternoon. She said it was so hard to get any sleep in the hospital, She's sleeping like a log right now! well I got to get some more light cleaning to do before bed time.........have a good night!:)

Chris - glad your wife got well enough to get out of the hospital earlier, those places can be breeding grounds for infection. Plus, like she said, it's nearly impossible to get rest in an environment like that!

Jeff - your dad's back on my prayer list.

Everybody else - thanx for the kind words about my main street scene, warts and all!

:eek:What!!! No SIL? What a shame.:D
Glad the wifey got home, knowing she will be more comfortable.:)

Now, ya ready to Par-dy??? Ain't got but a few more days left and we are already having a blast. There have been a few little accidents, but a mop and bucket cleaned most of them up. Just hope we can put that loco back together in time (heck of a pasture meet with the floor).:D

That's what Super Glue is for... Just glue it together and park it:cool:. Then you can tell Jim "It worked great the last time it ran"!

Good morning.

It's 69 and cloudy, not to mention damp. The high will be around the mid 80's and there's a chance of thunderstorms.

Nothing new to report on the parental front. My father is still in the local hospital and is wanting out so bad he can taste it. Now he knows a little about how I feel when I get stuck in there. He's already been told he's not going anywhere until this problem is cleared up. He can be a stubborn old goat at times. His main complaint is the bed is too hard on his back. He has to sleep in a chair. I know the feeling. My nephew came by yesterday to thank me for making his life a little more difficult. He's the one who has to change out the bent blades on the mower. That's right, the stump zapped both of them. No biggie though as they needed to be changed out anyway. No progress on the MR front as I've been too busy with family matters. Maybe I'll get some time today to tidy up the layout a bit. Can't run the trains very well when there's tools and bits and pieces of locomotives on the track.

Hello.

Current temperature is at 11C with the high going to 24C with the chance of showers. We had a few showers going through overnight with one being a torrential downpour with ONE 'boom'. A mini-T'storm.

Got some MRR things I can do today ---YAY!!:D:D:D Also need to get after the lawn today as it is starting to look more jungle-ish.:eek:

Chris I ordered some more beer kegs and we seem to have run out of JD again----do they have JD in a tanker maybe? Oh, Rex and I redid his backyard by building up some berms to hide all those other kegs we got---:D:eek:

Have a good one---:D:D:D

Howdy, all.

Chris, glad to see the better half made it home. Someone has to babysit you. And believe me, they seem to be able to do that even from a bed!!! Prayers are still coming your wife's way. The battle isn't over until she can swing that fryin' pan at you.

Jeff, nice pickup. I, too, love those "Pumpkins". We actually see quite a few here on NS lines. And quite a few UP's too.

Tom, enjoy Gettysburg. Something spiritual about that place. Lincoln said it best when he called it "hallowed ground". And the hobby shop is fantastic!! Everyone, the better half and the grandkids, all brought back souvenirs from Gettysburg....I brought back trains.

Rex, making sure the guys wipe the sauce from the chicken wings from their hands BEFORE handling the trains helps to keep said trains from those "pasture meets" with the floor.

Terry, aaah, the old tube of Super Glue, a modeler's best friend. Gel glue is the best to use in such situations, though.

Isn't technology great!!! Sitting on the boat, cup of coffee in hand, posting to you all. The boat has satellite uplink. I've only used it for TX before as I didn't have a computer that would perform the task. Now I do and WOW!!

So, now I'm on the boat , got the better half, the daughter, the SIL, and the two grandkids on the boat. Spent the night last night on the water. I'm in heaven. The grandson is piloting the boat(I'm in the seat next to him, in case anything goes awry). The Admiral, the SIL, daughter, and the granddaughter are watching the lines for fish. I'm doing nothing. This IS the life.

Obviously no work on the nursing home layout today. Some of the guys came over this week and took a few modules home to work on. They are far more dedicated than I this weekend. Track ballasting and wiring the switches needs done though, as does the installing of the "jumpers" for each of the modules. I do so appreciate their help. And for all of the contributions, all of you people in the hobby that have contributed and helped out YOU ARE JUST FANTASTIC!!!!!!

Woke up this morning to the smell of bacon, pancakes, sausage, eggs frying, and coffee brewing. Now, I must say, that for those of you that have never had the opportunity to spend nights on a boat, you don't know what you are missing.

My boat sleeps six adults quite easily and I've had eight without any trouble. Has all of the amenities of home, A/C, flat screen TV w/Blue Ray DVD, stereo, shower, bathroom, kitchen...... no trains though. (I did "sneak" a few in my bag thought that were in need of repair) But, the house doesn't have the capacity to troll for walleyes, either. So, I guess it's a fair trade-off. Last I heard, trains don't taste well, no matter how much tartar sauce you put on 'em. And they don't do well in a deep fryer, either.

Well, gotta go, we're into the fish. FISH ON!! And the fish finder is showin' some big 'uns!!!!! And lot's of 'em.

Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend all. I will drop back in sometime.

Bob

My niece went to Houston yesterday to pick up her new car. It's a 2009 Honda Accord with darn near everything on it. I think the only thing it doesn't have is the rear wing and she's having that added after-market. This is a $30,000 car. She got it for $28,200 TT&L. I couldn't even hope to be able to buy something like that.

SHAME ON YOU, BOB!!!! (that ain't fair!)

Jeff, that is a very good looking car. Ah, the smell of a new one...um-um.

Well, we've got our limit, lunch is done, burgers on the grill. Yes we have a gas grill on the boat. The fish are cleaned. Got a Coors Light in hand, and we are about 20 minutes from the house. We are going to beach the boat, sort of and run these carcasses up to the freezer and do it again.

Might head up to Mackinac, though. I've seen the bridge at night, but never from UNDER the bridge or on the water.

Jeff, maybe you should ask your niece for a "bailout". Get a new truck. Seems fair to me that she repay you for being her uncle. That's a tough job.

Rex, meet me at the dock and climb aboard. I've got plenty of room, food, beer, and spirits. We should be needing gas before heading to Mackinac. Gauges say that I still have over 200g, but you never know. And these engines, though better than most, are not misers. I know that the generator needs fuel. It's down to about 20g. It takes a mortgage to fill this thing up!!! But, that is OK with me. The joy we have is worth it.

Coming up on the point, gotta go. I don't quite trust the grandson and SIL taking the boat in close. At 12000#, it's a bit hard to lift off the sand bar.

Hey guys, wifes doing better!:) she's slowly moving around better and her color is comming back:D the prayers are work just to let ya know. She's back to giving me my marching orders:rolleyes:;) Myself between taking care of her I managed to get two yards mowed before the rain came in! $60 richer:) had to reschule the third yard to next friday:rolleyes: o'well!

Jeff, 28k for a tic tac box is still a little high:( for that much I could score a Pontiac GTO or G8 with a 6.0 or nice roomy Tahoe or Truck:) Either way still a nice looking car your niece got!

BOC, Slide a beer this way man!:)

boB,
Brings back memories of a few fishing trips with my sister on Lake Huron, cruising the Huron River and taking in the 4th of July fireworks in Bay City. Ahh yes, fresh blended Peach Daquiris, relaxin on the boat and takin in the sights........sigh.... oh yeah, and the walleye fishin wasn't bad either!!:D
She moved away from there 8 years ago,,,:(
Moved to the Carolina shore, where the boat is bigger, the fish are bigger, the booze is just as wicked and there are far too many blondes with soft lilting southern accents!
Ahhhh, the simple pleasures!!!:D

Mowed the lawn again. I think it has been mowed about every three to four days since the first of May. This is the best our lawn has looked in years. Maybe the mowing so often has a little to do with it no big clumps of wet grass laying around or looking like a hay field ready to be baled. Below is the circle in the middle of our driveway. I do not know what the bushes are called but they sure do look pretty. I know the flowers around the edges are called Sweet Williams.

Are you asking why it looks better? More frequent mowing makes the thatch much smaller which in turns decomposes faster thus feeding the lawn faster! also the heat generated by less(smaller) thatch tends not to dry out the soil as fast! Frequent mowing is a good thing! Grass gets off on lot's of mowing.... get me a better pic' of the center bush........I might have a clue to what it is.
