Good Evenin'---

Boy, talk about a busy day --get paperwork done, get visits done, get home get housework done, get into trainroom, have MRR things to do---:eek::rolleyes::):):)

I also saw strange article about Obama's plans for auto industry in 5 years( why does that sound like centralized 5 year pl----shut the pie hole-:p:p:eek:). If what I heard is/was correct we could very well see cars the size of Fiat's 500 being the largest ones around for us---what a choice. You can choose:
  • a little 2 person Renault LeCar, A 4 person VW microbus, a 2 person Fiat "Simca", an updated version of Messrschmitts KR250 bubblecar, Road&Track's version of a French tiny car--"Le Cyclop", The new car from India from Tata--, three wheeled Morgans, or for real hard work--three wheeled scooter trucks,

And the trucks will be so expensive--you'll better have certification that you do have a business that needs them----eeerrgh:eek::mad::mad:

Enter this new world at your own peril,:eek: people---:eek:

Have a good'un----:D:D:D:D

BOC. I can' say I didn't see this coming, but in a way it's Detroits own fault. My 21 year old Ranger gets 25mpg in mixed driving and has more than enough power and mass to get me in trouble. Since it's birth, none of it's bretheren over the years have gotten much better, if at all. With the technology that Detroit has, you would think by now a small 4x4 truck could achieve 40 mpg while smoking the rear tires.

As far as the street legal micro machines, I'll flatten any that get in my way!

And don't even try a "use tax" on my trailer! Heck, I only ever use it for
taking the display layout modules to and from train shows.
Tell BO he can have the keys to my truck (& trailer) when he pries them out of my trigger finger!!!!

Chris Hows the wife doing. We've all been thinking about her!

Ken About your Merchant's row stuff,,, I wanna see!!!!!!

Karl If'n you check Youtube there is an electric car that apparently is a drag racer--did something like 9 sec in a 1/4 mile. It's called White Zombie--so I think it would be under electric drag racing--White Zombie. Now THAT would give me ideas---imagine all that immediate torque----

But that would be too much for the 'knowing subjects' who are the 'ruling classes'-----yeesh

OMG!!! The whip lash would be enormous.:D

My nerd nephew bought a "Smart Car". It looks like an ugly bug, like a fat tick waiting to be squashed by an F150. I saw a video on the head-end collision test for that thing...and indeed, it was flattened.

Such a beast has existed for the past 10 years. Its called a Landrover Freelander TD4. Its the size of a Ranger if not slightly bigger. Gets 42mpg in mixed driving and has a 2l 4cyl turbo diesel that can easilly reach 115mph. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Detroit is about 15 years behind Europe and Japan when it comes to squeezing more power with less fuel from an engine and about 20 years behind in styling and handling.

My wife is doing good:o We got to the hospital a little early(4:30 am) and I left at (6pm). It's about a 1:30 min ride with no trafffic or 2:30 ride with traffic:eek: I HATE TO DRIVE IN TAMPA! to make matters worser it hasn't stoped raining since Saturday! Tampa has the worst drainage system, so roads flood fast! Bacck to my wife, her OP went great.......but the Recovery part was a little rough:( 90min OP, 5hrs. in recovery:eek: she didn't want to wake up:( but around 5:30pm she woke in truck loads of pain:( She's sitting up now and is a little better! I'm going back as soon as I get Ryan off to school. they said if she does real good they will send her home friday noon!

My wife is at TGH, Tampa General Hospital. I can't say enough about it, Great hospital!:):):):):) The Staff is happy and more than helpful and kind! the Hospitals ammenities are wow(you get your own room!)! Great food too:p to bad i started my diet:mad: well got's to go's chat later

Yes, 4 bangers are ok......but nothing is better than the feel and sound of a 8cy. Big block Beast! I will suffer 20mph lose to have my 400! The EPA can have my big block when they pry my cool dead lead foot of the gas pedal!:);)

My lawn tractor has More HP and has fast takeoff than the smart car!:D also you would look cooler and safer driving my mower down the street!

Good Morning---

We're going to a high of 29C. In the sunshine!!:D:D:D

I've got client visits to this morning and office stuff in the afternoon---I'm off tomorrow and Monday as well---I get 4 day weekends:p:p:D:D:D

Chris, Andrew I find myself telling people that the size of vehicle does tend to reflect the size of the country. Trying to travel in a little box of a car like a BMW Issetta or a Fiat 500 with 2 adults and 2 children is not fun. Especially when you are going over a thousand miles!!:eek::eek: It is definitely easier to do in a somewhat larger car than in THAT which can be blown over by a truck like tumbleweed!!:eek::eek:

And besides, A turbo unit on a 2l diesel is not what BO probs has in mind---I'm thinking he might like us driving 1l 2cyl hybrids that have about 50mph for top speed but give us 100mpg maybe?---and take all day to get there. BTW--if you think you can do some grocery shopping, forget that. There is where some new jobs will be created. Afterall, people, we're going to have to have a specialist class of home delivery services b/c nothing more than 2 people can get into our little box cars:mad::mad::mad:

Mornin' guys, just getting reay for another day at work. Looking forward to this long weekend coming up:cool::D:cool:

Chris; Glad to hear your wife is doing well, I know we were all thinking about her. Even with the hospital being such a nice place I am sure she and you woudl rather have her home. Hope she can get home soon...:)

Ken; That is some coincidence! Hope she does well with her next two years. It really goes fast, it seems like yesterday I was telling my wife as we left the college that I was not sure how we would be able to help her afford such an education, but now it is over and I am really no worse off, and our daughter should be a lot better off in the near future. Tell your daughter to be sure to enjoy the time she has at college, it will end very fast even though she may not think that now.

BTW, been meaning to tell you, I know where Woodstock is, at least whereabouts. We drive out I-70 a few times a year as my parents still live in Baltimore. Actually just my mom now, dad passed away this past April. But all my relatives still live in Maryland. If I am not mistaken Woodstock is not too far of I-70, correct?

Well, I got to mess with the layout a little last night. Got the rest of the track fastened down. The track noise at the one corner is better, but still there. I think it just might be a back section of track or maybe it's just normal and since this is all new to me I am expecting it to be too quiet???

Either way I decided that since this is my first layout I am really just using it to see how this all works, get a feel for how the trains work and see what I really want to do once I have half the basement to my self. So I will let the noise ride for now and have some fun learning how to work this layout. Then build a bigger and better one...:D

Gotta get going on some work for now, talk to you guys later...

Have a great day:cool:

Good morning folks.

I'll take a gallon of coffee and throw in a free car if you have it!

Tony, I hope you're having fun on the first layout. I know my first 4x8 told me what I wanted in my next layout. Usually the first thing you want is more space!

Chris, I'm glad to hear your wife is doing okay. Isn't it amazing how helpful people become when their job is possibly on the line? Up here, hospitalizations are down 19%. That means a lot of nurses are losing their jobs.:(

We are going from a high in the upper nineties yesterday to a high of sixty-six today. Gotta love the weather in Minnesota! I'm not quite ready for summer yet, so highs in the seventies will be welcome.

My new Bachmann Berkshire shipped yesterday. Good thing I bought it before the spending freeze was put into place this week. Now I need to take a day to finish the trestle so I can go roundy round! How's that for prototypical?

I have a long, boring day at work today. Let's just hope that there are no bridezillas this weekend! Actually, mothers are awful when it comes to this stuff. The bride and groom aren't usually too uptight about the tuxedos.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning.

It's 67 and clear. The high will be around 85 and it'll be partly cloudy.

I'm gonna be busy this morning. First I have to chlorinate the pool then I have to mow my parents yard then if I can get the left rear tire on her mower inflated I have to mow my sisters yard. Got my car back from the shop the other day and it's running quite well. Drove it to the fire station last night then back home. After my father's stiff truck it was almost like riding on a cloud. Don't know if I'll have any time for the layout today but a general cleanup is in order.

Good morning folks

It was 60 F this morning as I headed on to the sunny highways. Our high today will be 80 F with a lot of sunshine.

It was a crazy day yesterday. As soon as I hit the door at work the crisis started. Since I was taking a half day everything got compressed into a few hours. As several programs are winding down, many projects are coming due at once. On top that there are the usual construction issues that have to be handle quickly so the contractors are not delayed.

We had our last Pack Meeting of the Scouting Year and I had a lot of last minute things to do before the meeting.

Tonight my daughter has a softball game. We are trying to figure out if and what we are going to do this weekend. Since my son just did a report on the Battle of Gettysburg my wife suggested that we take a trip. I am not sure if this will be a one day or an overnight.

Model trains what are those?

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning fellows!
Waiting on the roof inspector from the insurance company. Doubt if I will get a new roof out of this, but maybe ....

About European cars: While working with the Mercedes Training staff, they admitted that one of the biggest mistakes made by European automakers of the past, was to think their design would fit North American driving habits. They failed to realize that while a long trip in Europe is 100 miles, a long trip here is 800 miles plus with 50 miles being routine. Their undersized and under powered autos just wouldn't hold up. Now look at us, thinking about little bugs that were designed for town driving replacing our road cars.
You know, the new administration reminds me of a new boss on the job. He comes storming in to the new position and is going to change it all...things that have worked and proven efficient for a decade. After a short while, he starts to realize that there are sound reasons for why things are as they are. Time will tell!

Well, back to waiting for the inspector.
:)Have a good'un!:)

Chris: Excellent news that your wife is doing well. She will be kicking your butt soon :D!

I got some good news from the insurance inspector: they will replace the shingles on the whole house and my garage (Depot). Already wrote me a check on the spot for up-front money. Hopefully, the contractors estimate will be in the range.

Drove down to Jim's place yesterday and disabled all the booby traps. Man, that guy has an imagination on how to snag someone. His layout is now prime for a roaring good time and the first keg is being cooled. (sure hope his wife is understanding about the vase I accidentally broke:eek::o )

I got my parents yard cut and got most of my sisters yard done. Only reason I didn't finish it was I found a tree stump under a pile of grass clippings. Now her mower has a bent blade. The stumps gone though.

That's OK about the vase Rex we'll just say Chris did it. Today has been a most excellent day, I have done almost absolutely nothing. I did take my expended needles up to the hospital for disposal and gave my pint of blood at the Central Indiana Blood center while there I found out they are closing this office July 22nd, I will not drive 25 miles to give blood so I guess I will be looking for blood drives in the area. I made a clock with the State Seal of Indiana on it and took it over the the place where I try to sell my lamps and found out the gal I have been working with is leaving for a more lucrative paying job. She will be making $34 and hour versus the 2.19 her husband told her she is making now. Oh well I will just have to find me another dealer willing to set my stuff in their booth or rent a booth of my own which means a I better get the lathe fired up and start making some lamps and clocks. Ahh love the smell of sawdust in morning or afternoon or well just about anytime.

Two fields that never have problems work wise down here is Hospitals and funeral homes! Every October thru to April the hopitals fill up with Northeners and people from other countrys....They tend to fill up the hospitals and Drs. offices in Florida cause over all iit has a good health care system! as fer the funeral home everyone is dying to live here:)(sorry couldn't refuse!) But truely, most people who move here on purpose are older retirees. well they end up finishing out their lives here!
