Good morning.

It's 52 and clear. The high today will be in the upper 70's and it will be sunny.

After slaving away on the U30C yesterday I have a fairly descent looking locomotive emerging from the chaos. Today I'm taking the details from the disintegrated Atlas GE cab and will be applying them to the old Bachmann POC GE cab and see if I can make it look fairly good. Spent part of the late afternoon yesterday down at my parents place helping to clean up the back terrace and pool area then helped move a couple of railroad ties in the garden. Despite having been in there for several years they're still quite intact and are just as heavy as I remember them being if not heavier.

Hello--

We're at -1C, frost is all over the place and I got myself into a gardening binge. We got the potted plants to put out on the deck, the burlap to pull from the overnight frost protection bit, the eaves to clean, the mulch to put out back---only did the front yesterday, the---and the list goes on----:)

Chris Up here we don't seem to have a problem with dryness but we have issues with people. We did not ban them as yet but I'm pretty sure that if Toronto--the more 'sophisticated ones in the BIG CITY-- has its way no one would be able to do anything with fireworks---even if you do have papers:mad::mad:

I'll be able to sneak in some MRR'ing sometime in the afternoon---I hope:):)

Good morning folks

It was a chilly 47 F as I headed out on the highways this morning. Our high today will be 61 F

We had a busy weekend. On Saturday my son helped his Boy Scout Troop at a local cemetery. They cleaned and did some repairs to the cemetery’s greenhouse. We also did all the grocery shopping. Over the entire weekend we worked on the fish pond. I got the filter up and running. We also had to transplant and split a water lily that had burst its pot. The one plant is now three plants. Now with the goofy weather since we have all the pond plants up we have to worry about a possible frost tonight.

I am paying for the gardening today. My back is killing me. I am having a hard time moving around this morning.

No modeling but I did clean off some of the layout. My son and I talked about what we want to accomplish next on the layout.

Tonight my son has a baseball game. He also has a Boy Scout Troop meeting. He is supposed to have a Scoutmaster conference for his Scout Badge. My daughter has her flute lesson tonight.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Your mower must leave your yard and venture in to the neigbors when money is waved at ya!:p:D
You and your mower do have to wait to be invited into the neighbor's yard, otherwise it would be "mowus tresspassus", and you could encounter "mowus interuptus with arrestus". Not a good thing, it is counterproductive. Also, just because money is waved at you, does not mean they want their lawn mowed. They could be offering to pay you to stop. This would be more likely if it is 5 am on a Sunday.

:D:D ROTFLMAO!!:D:D
Oh Jeeze, that is funny!

i got's my deplomas from the bottom of my cheerios box! C eating serial do's makes u smarter! As for my drivers licence cut that out of the back of Three baers on wheels childerns book! C I may not be the sharpest blade on the mower deck but at least i can cut some!:rolleyes:and i don't mean just farts ither!

The lift station broke on the busiest day of the ball season! They did not call dispatch to in form us of the problem! instead they kept pooping and trying to flush it down! with out the lift station poop does not flow up hill to the septic tank! instead it backs up and flow back from which it come from:eek:! the bathroom floors were.....well........u can guess what I had to clean up!:mad: Not a good day fer me!

Evenin'----

Got a good tan goin' today--what with all the plants put out and planted into the borders and what all else--:D:D:D

Then did some BBQ'ing with some neighbours. Had a ball there---:D:D:D

Then I stuffed myself into my trainroom to try to get some semblance of order into the mess in there. I'm thinking about the industries that'll go into the space I set up. :D:D:D

Chris Things like that would make me growl---when I did the building maintenence thing it was either that issue or ye ol' flooded basement caused by sump pump pooping out--:mad:

Hey folks just stopped in to say hey and have a quick cup!

If anyone gets a chance I could use some advice on this thread; Weird Track Noise...

Other than that I've been a little busy but still getting some train time in. Just about ready to do some wiring.

Chris; This kind of days can really suck, hope you have some better days coming.

BOC; Dude, watch the tan level there will ya? We might start thinking you giving up the hobby for sunbathing:eek::eek::D

Talk to you guys later...:D

A cup ofthe good stuff, Flo.

What a gorgeous day. Put away all of the train work today to work on the boat. Yet, another restoration project. Worked on fixing "spiderwebs" today. I thought I had them all done, but found about a dozen more. Sand and fill, sand and fill, and sand.

I have a corner on the dash that needs repaired. Work on that tomorrow. It's chipped all away and just needs fixed. I found piece of hardware, a metal corner protector that I hope to use as a mold. Works in theory, hope it does as well in reality.

Going to have to get the router table out. I've got some wood trim that needs replaced. I figure if the boat is in dry dock, I might as well do the whole job. Rebuilt the engine last fall, incorporating a few "hot rod" tricks to release latent horsepower. Hope it works. Nothing radical, just getting the engine to "roll" and "breathe" easier. Should increase performance without creating a maelstrom for fuel consumption.

Hope Jim got off the ground in that bird. Haven't heard anything on the news. Has the party started yet? I'll bring a few pizzas. Any requests?

Got a line on some engines. Gotta snatch 'em up for the price. If they are junk I can melt 'em down and get my money back. I don't have many brass diesels and this is a great opportunity. I've got some steamers though, about 8 or so. Nothing fancy or high dollar though.

Well got to go. Put this on Jim's tab, Flo. Anyone that can afford a vacation should have an extra $.50 in their pocket.

boB brass diseasels?? Don't dump them into scrap!
You might be amazed at what a litle mechanical work can accomplish with them. I've learned a few things over the years that really help!
I've got 2 old Alco Models Baldwin sharks that actually run as well as my newer Atlas GP38's! :D

Mornin' guys! I need a large cup of coffee this morning, running a little slow...:(

Well I knew eventually that this up coming wedding of my daughters would require more from me than just writing checks and flipping out the credit card. Last night I had to help with some of the things for the reception so it cut into my train time. But maybe tonight I can try to figure out my track noise problem:eek:

Well hope everyone has a good day, mine promises to be a long one at work today.

Seeya guys later...:D

"It's a beautiful Morning lets go outside for a while" When I looked out this morning that song popped into my head and now won't leave. It is going to be a fantastic day today I've got a mall job to help a friend with. He just bought another building and needs the downspouts replaced. He has all of tha materials already I just need to climb the ladder. To bad it is not the ladder of success although it could be considered that as when I am done I will have some folding pocket cash so I guess it is a minor ladder of success. Flo I'll have the biggest glass of rasberry iced tea to go that you have for hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go.

Good morning folks.

Well, we had one of those days yesterday. My wife called to tell me that she will no longer be employed in two weeks. We knew her company was downsizing, but everyone thought she would make it through to the end. Apparently, the marketing manager's position was eliminated and was given the opportunity to take my wife's job. It's kind of comical because the idiots at the top are the ones who ruined the company in the first place. They were a company with 178 gas stations. Now they will be down to thirteen! Oh well, the job was killing her. I look forward to seeing what is in store for us in the future.

I have to go buy a car today. We had sold her car a few years ago when she received a company vehicle. We've been saving money for this very day. We had hoped that it would come on our own terms though. I guess nothing ever comes on your own terms.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning.

It's 55 and clear. The high today will be around 80 and it will be sunny.

I got the largest part of the work on the U30C done. I still have to scratch-build a set of air tanks and lines to mount on top between the radiator fans and the dynamic brake housing and the airlines front and rear have to be painted. Also I need a name for this beast. Everything I've come up with doesn't sound right. I got my car into the shop yesterday. Hopefully it'll be ready sometime today. That's got nearly all my stimulus payment spent right there. $75 went out to the previous owner of the two Atlas locos I've been working on. Yesterday I gave my father a helping hand even though he didn't ask for it. I already knew that he was coming in from a pretty mean work schedule and would be going back out on the road again after 5 or 6 hours so the last thing he would need was things that needed doing before he could get to the bed. So I went down and moved three stacks of chlorine drums from the pool area out to the road then collected the trash from trash cans in the house and moved it out to tyhe road as well so it can all be picked up today. It's not much but it gave him more time to rest.

Good morning folks

It was 47 F this morning. Some areas around us had frost but luckily we did not. Our high today will be 72 F.

Yesterday the wife and I helped our son with his latest school project. He is doing a Power Point Presentation on several topics about the Civil War. His areas are the armies, weapons and technology, combat conditions, and the Battle of Gettysburg. He has to do at least five points on each subject. He is working as part as a team. His teammates are doing maps, posters, and other audio-visuals to support his presentation. Needless to say he was somewhat overwhelmed yesterday and it took mom and dad a while to refocus him. As a result of working on the project he missed his baseball game. Our rule is school first.

He also had a Boy Scout Troop meeting which he went late to take a break from the school project. While there he earned his Scout Badge. We are hoping it will be presented to him at the Court of Honor next week.

In amongst all this trauma my daughter had her flute lesson.

I definitely did not get any modeling done. Tonight my daughter has a softball game and the wife has an appointment to get her hair done.

I hope everybody has a good day.
