I've been down to my parents place helping my sister and niece open the pool for the season. They needed my help in getting the tarp off it. It takes three people minimum to get if off without dumping the trash on it in the pool. It's tied down along both sides and the ends. Now I told both of them to leave the north side tied down so that when the south side was pulled over to the north the south side of the tarp wouldn't end up in the pool. My sister had no problem with that. Her mind works in a logical manner. My niece however isn't a logical thinker and she just couldn't see how leaving that side tied down was going to accomplish anything and untied the part at the shallow end while no one was watching. Came time to pull the tarp off and my sister and I get on opposite ends of the tarp at the south side of the pool and pull it over itself to the north side. At the deep end everything is just fine. At the shallow end the unsecured edge of the tarp slips into the water and dumps it's load of gunk into the pool. My sister and I both glare at my niece and I told told her 'I told you to leave it tied down' to which she says 'I didn't know it would do that'. I had only told her ten times what would happen if it wasn't tied down. Guess who gets to give the pool it's first cleaning. It isn't me, nor my sister. That leave the niece! I bet she'll listen next time.

One 12 ounce can should do it (in)...

LOL's only you terry!:D:):D:rolleyes: I'm not going to kill Jim's cat! I got one of our past dogs P-ing himself drunk! Dog got into my mug of beer! He fell off the couch and p'ed himself!LOL's he reminded me of a few of my friends that can't handle their beer either:p!

Chris, the cats are all at the kitty jail...err...resort for the week so you can't go getting them drunk. Just having you guys loaded around the house is bad enough. Getting a dog drunk! You should be ashamed of yourself. :)

Bob, dagnab it, I was one of the guys who promised you a Bachmann DCC system. It's sitting in a box along with some other donations and I just haven't made it to the post office. Very poor excuse and I apologize. I promise, it'll be in the mail next Tuesday, the 27th, when we get home.

BOC, I'm glad you got some train time in. I haven't even seen the basement since the Bunco night reprieve on Monday.

Jeffrey, some people only learn when they suffer the logical consequences of their behavior. It sounds like the niece will have a better understanding of the physics of removing a pool cover after she's done with the clean up job.

Well, I think we have everything packed and are ready to go. How I'm going to get all this stuff in one car with five people is beyond me. I suspect I'm going to end up paying for two cars to be parked for eight days. :( Number one daughter is taking fifteen changes of clothes for eight days. Says you never know what you might need. I told her that's why God made sinks, detergent and balconies. I'm hoping they will finally get the picture that you don't need more than a few shorts and tops in the tropics. Chris, that rain you're going to be getting is from a subtropical low that's spinning up over Cuba. The latest models want to take it past the Bahamas as a tropical wave, across south Florida, and then into the Gulf, where it may develop into a tropical storm by around Friday. Really too early to tell but the model runs are getting more consistent with something developing in the Gulf by the end of next week.

Well, I'm sure the mechanics have the biplane in good shape by now. Need to be up at 0630 so it's time to sign off. I'll be back late on the 26th. You all be good while I'm gone and don't wreck the house!

...... Yup, it's graduation day. I get my degree today, and all the hoopla that goes with it. Gotta do the whole cap & gown thing, moving the tassel, speeches, everything.

A hardy congratulations Philip!
(Never too old. I was in my forties ;):) .)

Jim, hope you and family have a wonderful time!
(like we are going to have on, about, around, and underneath your layout! :D)

Say, does that airplane come with a hand crank or do you have to turn the propeller to get it started? :D :D

All, did Jim promise to bring us all back a bottle of that Dark Caribbean Rum? I thought I had heard something to the sort. Maybe it was Chris praying out loud again. Praying to the Spirit for spirits.

No problem on the stuff, Jim. And my comments were not directed at you. I know you've been busy(read: making me jealous) packing for your upcoming trip to the "islands". Enjoy yourself and watch out for the natives. Keep the suntan oil at hand. The sun seems much brighter down there.

And the daughter? She must have had someone teach her about packing. The wife maybe? Or is it that it is inherent in the female genes?

When I went down to the Bahamas a few years ago, I took (4)pairs of shorts, (2)bathing suits, a couple of shirts and (2)pair of flip-flops. I figured that I'd be buying shirts as souvenirs so they were low on my list.

Have fun, Jim.

Bob

Good morning all from Ye Olde London Towne.

Tony: welcome aboard and thanks. In a lot of ways I'm new to the hobby too. Even though I've been modelling for 30 years, its only really in the past 9 months that I've turned to North American prototypes. Sheesh. Live in Canada and model the UK. Move to the UK and switch to Canadian/US. Go figure.

Jim: sadly yes I know about all the restrictions. Thats going to kill off my other hobby which is beer tasting. Alcohol and live yeast are two of the worst contributors. With all the damage and calcification either gout or another form or arthritis in that foot was inevitable.

Corey: been there, done that with the Sony. I only got rid of the thing by leaving it at the in-laws and emigrating to the other side of the Atlantic. :D

Well I'm off to a train show today. http://www.trainwest.org.uk/ Its a bit of a drive (UK standards) but should be worth it. I get to see Pilotfriend's layout in the flesh finally. http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10430
SWMBO is coming along too as Stonehenge is enroute.

Have a good Sunday all and take care of yourselves.

Jim, just found out that Chris will loan you his Speedo's.
(Oh gads...the thought of the sight! YUK!):D

O.K. Mr. knobby knee's we here ya!:(;):rolleyes::D

BTW: The party starts tonight and ends Morning of the 27th! Car pool everyone that will help to keep the neigbor complaints down as well as the cop's visits! I wonder If jims throttles on the layout have a warp 9 setting? We'll find out!

Good morning.

It's 66, cloudy and a bit damp. The high is expected to around 74 and there's a chance of thunderstorms.

I've put together some ideas, some my own and some from other modelers, concerning the GE U30C. Here's my plan of attack. The roof mounted radiators at the back of the shell will be removed and a dynamic brake housing and grilles from a SD40 will be added. The GE exhaust stack will be removed and an EMD exhaust stack will be mounted just behind the horns back of the cab. An EMD blower housing will be mounted just behind the step down from the cab and two EMD radiator fans will be added to the top of the hood between the stack and DB housing. That should be just about pegging the plausibility meter. I may even throw in an EMD cab to push it over the top.

No fire marshal showed up? Down here Fire works are band period! due to our dry conditions most of the time. Many people (myself included) manage to smuggle in some nice pyro's. Only time cop's show up if someone complains and turns you in. I'm lucky I live in a low income area and nobody complains and the hood looks like a war zone during the fourth and new years. The past couple of years we just watch others............no need to waist my money while the neigbor is putting on a nice show:D

Ya, some people take a break from here from time to time, myself included. Jeff hit the nail on the head, "feast or famine!" Let me see if i can liven thing's up some........

I heard it's a gerbil on a treadmill...

Actually, it a really big rubber band and all the passengers take turns turning the propeller until it is wound tight enough to make the flight :D:eek::D

Hey folks how's this here in the coffee shop this morning? Just stopped in for a quick cup myself. I think I am going to visit the LHS today and see what kind of paint supplies I might be able to use.

Finished up my roadbed yesterday and the trains seems to be running real well so far. Here's is what I have so far...Roadbed done... Ignore the lines I need to cover up, they were from my first attempt that I did not like very much. Once I make sure the trains are running good I will fasten down the track then work on ballast and buildings, at least that's my plan for now.

Man, I worked my butt off yesterday. it was supposed to rain all day, but the rain held of long enough for me to shovel and move 4 cubic yards of mulch. Took me three hours and man was I sore. But not too sore that I could not work on the layout some.

Today looks like a real nice day. Gonna get the bike out for a little R&R ride with a stop at the LHS like mentioned above.

Well I hope everyone has a great Sunday, talk to you folks later...:D
