Good morning.

It's 54 and very wet here with more thunderstorms rolling in. High will be around the mid 70's with thunderstorms.

Between doctor appointments, visits to the parents and sifting through stacks of computer specs for my sister I actually got some MR work done yesterday, notably adding railings to my GD30, a 6 axle short range version of a GP30. It took a couple of hours, a lot of drilling and a chopped set of railings from a Bachmann GP50. I finally added the last couple of pieces to the rear steps last night. A set of railings made specifically for the model would have been nice but Athearn hasn't made a GP30 since what, around 1965? Now about the above mentioned stacks of computer specs, my sister has decided to get a computer for use at home and she doesn't want some Wal-Mart special from Dell or HP. The hours of going through dry specs came down to a decision between a HP notebook that had a lot going for it and a desktop from ZT Systems. Both are comparably priced. She doesn't need the portability and convenience of the notebook and she really likes what the ZT has to offer and I must say that I'm impressed with it as well. It looks as if she'll be ordering that system. Looks like it's gonna be pouring down rain today and tomorrow. Good thing I got the grass cut when I did. Right now I'm looking over the layout and determining what other mayhem I can get into. There are some city scene details (phone booths, bike racks, etc) coming but those are still days away.

Good Morning--We'll be heading for a high today of 8C with periods of rain turning to periods of drizzle which will end overnight. Tomorrow will be a 50% chance of showers with the high going to 9C.

Jim,Dan--I had the luck to be having a summer job at a garage when I was in high school--I got to work on changing out parts on several different engines and also overhauled my '68 Mustang fastback's 429 CJ--that was fun:rolleyes:----NOT!!:D:D. Actually it wasn't that bad---the closest I get to that now a days is when a friend of mine is restoring another old muscle car---then I'm there like a shot!
As far as wolf spiders go--you can keep those:eek:---I have enough issues with those dang recluse spiders:(------we're not quite out of the winter bucket just yet up here as they're telling us we could be seeing a return to snow by next week---:(:(

Karl---while you're doing the modules try to keep the knuckles from being a part of them---I think I did mine in with the last engine rebuild I helped my one friend with--stripped/rusted bolts ain't fun---

Well, I got a client visit set for this afternoon along with the dreaded honey do list---eergh:eek::eek:--with any luck I might get some MR stuff done:rolleyes:----

Mornin' all!

Today: mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain showers until midday, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph.

Well, today should be pretty brutal around this office. We had a murderous day yesterday, and none of those problems got resolved. Those people are going to be screaming even louder today, plus, you just kno there's going to be new issues to deal with.

I can't wait for 5:00pm already!

Guess I'll just have to hang in there...........

:)Morning all! The rains have arrived and should be with us until Saturday night. Some say that we may get 5-8 inches over that time period.

The new mattress is suppose to be delivered this morning...you know...somewhere between 8am and noon . Hope we will be happy with it since it's cost would have made a down payment on a private jet.

Think I will build a kit or two this day, that is after the delivery sometime between ......and.......:D:D

Hang in their tight and have a good one. If things don't work out BLAME CHRIS!:p:D

Good afternoon shop dwellers!

This has been a busy week for so far, with everybody and his brother/sister needing my attention on something or other at the office! Then to top it off, my 19yr-old who just went back to college on Sunday, called me and said that a homework assignment she did on the family 'putor was unreadable after she emailed it to herself on her own laptop, so I spent Monday evening helping her recover the document in a readable format. Good thing it wasn't due on Monday! I'm also working on a paint shop-type article for Joe Fugate's e-mag, this will hopefully bring in some much-needed hobby $$$!

Jeff - glad your MRI was 'negative'!

Phillip I feel your pain, I've had a few days like that myself since I started here. Luckily I can count them on the fingers of one hand...

BOC - your experience is exactly the reason I don't like tech newbies 'helping' me with my projects!

Chris good luck with the job situation, your in our thoughts...

Jim - I don't envy you with the weather you guys are getting, hope you get thru it OK:eek: But I know your area also needs rain desperately...

Dan - hope the rebuild works out for you. I never did one on my own, but when I was in the Navy I helped a friend rebuild his Ford engine, can't remember the CID - 289 I think?

Karl - there's a PM headed your way, keep your eyes peeled...

Rex - hope those kits arrive at your place on schedule!:D

Sayonara..!

But sadly even with milk on my side I was the one having my butt kicked and handed to me:( I just need to just mind my own business in the morning, chose my battles better, and switch cereals......one less mouthy:rolleyes::D

It's a good thing I wasn't eating, Capt. Crunch! Good God I might have woke up dead in a Ditch!

Good Evenink--Well, we're getting the rain after all--it seemed that the weatherguessers up here were starting to think isolated showers and only a 20% chance at that but---

Chris I've taken to eating rolled oats cereal for precisely the same reason!:eek:--the dang things want to come out'n the bowl and nail you one!:eek::mad::confused: Everytime I had them they'd start hollerin' to beat the band!!:p:p--
We's be hopin' that you keep the job goin'--:):);)

Ken--as long as THAT human turkey stays clear of me I'll not be bothering him.:eek: But anyhooo--he was just dumped on them at the last minute by a not so bright dispatch--- We do pair the newbies up with a more seasoned staff so I'm not sure what happened there--:confused:
BTW--I'll look forward to seeing that article---:D:D

Rex Do you have an ark by any chance?:eek::p

Well I got some more painting done on some more buildings. Now all I have to do is put these one's together and then start up some more--DPM's come in so handy---Now, I only need to scratchbuild some company houses for a potash mill---:rolleyes:

Evening gang!
Ken, thanks for the reminder! If I never send my article to Bill Schaumburg then RMC wont print it! I got your PM, you have an answer in yours.
Jim, lookin at the Weather Channel, you better start weaving that pine straw into a raft! Looks like the deep south in gonna be in deep doo-doo for the next couple days!
Rex, can that mattress float??
Chris, might I suggest Fruit Loops?:D

Evening, everyone.

Yes, indeed, heads up for everyone from mid-Mississippi to central Alabama. There's a nasty looking squall line over by Jackson now and it's headed our way. I was reading the weather discussion and here's something I've never seen before:

Areas along and west of Interstate 65 should pay close attention to weather conditions either by listening to National oceanic and atmospheric administration weather radio or by watching your local media. This line will begin to move in at a time when most people will be sleeping. It would probably be a good idea to have a family member or friend stay up or frequently get up to monitor the weather conditions.

Looks like I'll be up for a while tonight. The NWS isn't usually this blunt unless they're pretty sure something bad is on the way. We've had an inch of reain so far and the main event isn't even expectred until Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. The cats are already locked in the basement just in case. I'm not chasing them all over the place at 0dark30.

Rex, hope your new mattress works out as good as ours. You could buy several nice sets of matched sound equipped models for the price of those things nowadays.

Chris, my experince is oatmeal is a very friendly kind of cereal and almost never talks back to me if I drown it in enough brown sugar. :)

BOC, I haven't had time to work on anything layout related in about 3 weeks. I'm starting to wonder if the layout still works.

Ken, are you going to document your painting job on the MR1 for Fugate? Man, that is one outstanding piece of work.

Phillip, good to see you. I hope today wasn't as bad as you feared.

Jeffrey, I've read some good things about the ZT Systems computers so I hope your sister gets a good one. Mine is on its last legs and I'll need a new one soon but I'll keep this one limping along until it looks like the market may actually make me some money again. I had to buy laptops for both girls for college so that pretty well wiped out my computer budget for the year. :(

Calm before the storm right now with just a little drizzle. I was just looking at the Jackson MS radar and there are two vortex signatures just north of Jackson right now with a whole flock of hail producers. I just hope the line weakens before it gets here.

There was a pretty vicious line of storms that went through my area around 8:30-9:00pm. No major damage but it was quite a blow.

OUCH!! I know how much those things can cost too! My niece's laptop was almost $2,000! The ZT computer my sister has ordered cost around $700 - $750. She's getting it through QVC.

Good Morning people--all we're getting is dull followed by some more dull. We're supposed to get a bit of sun tomorrow morning--but dull will be the name of the game for the next several days. Highs will dance around the 5C mark with lows at -2C or thereabouts---

Hopefully you all made it through last night--I didn't see anything on the news --so far--we're hoping--

Jim I think it is always a good idea to vacuum the cats up--especially with these storms--

Have some client visits to do today and do a few paperwork things as well.

So, what's up witchoo?

Good morning folks

It was 45 F as I rolled out of the driveway. High today will be 50 F with some rain.

Had another one of those crazy days at work that started with several crisis’s as I walked in the door. One of the jobs will be advertised today and the other a few days from now. We still have one more to assemble. I cannot wait until we get these economic stimulus jobs advertised and we can return to some sense of normality.

My daughter is fighting another cold. I cannot believe how many times someone in the house has been sick since Thanksgiving. This has been a tough winter.

We had our Cub Scout pack Meeting last night so no trains.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 53 and mostly cloudy here. The high will be around the mid 70's and there's a good chance of thunderstorms.

Received a 'Dream, Plan, Build' DVD in the mail yesterday. I've heard a lot of good things about this series so I took the time to check it out. I must say that I was not impressed. The featured layouts are nice and there's a lot of good advice given but it's nothing that I haven't already seen and learned online. The medallion they sent along with the DVD is nice and looks good among my other collectibles. The DVD however will be going back today. We had a pretty intense storm blow through here last night and my yard is now covered with a thin layer of pine straw and microsporangia (those little pollen things) and a bunch of pine cones. We didn't get all that much rain but we did get a lot of wind. The showers passed quickly. My father's yard looks like it hasn't been raked in a couple of months. Fact is he just raked it about a week ago. He won't be a happy camper.

Good morning,

It's cold and drizzly here in the Mid 'Lantic, but I'll gladly accept it compared to the nasty stuff you guys down South are enduring!

Jim - thanks for the kind words about my Merchants Row. The article I'm currently doing for Fugate is about using homemade "paint decals" to model a CSX SD38-2 yard engine. I'm not sure I have anything new to add to the discussion on painting MR-I, though. Hope you and your family are OK, I see some wicked storms just passed over your area

Hafta run now, CUL

Are they still peddling those DVD's??? I got the first 2 when they first came out (2+ years ago?) but #3 actually put me to sleep. Not once, but twice when I tried to watch it!! Then came the fun trying to return it! After several phone calls I finally got it all settled and Kalmbach has not gotten a dime from me since!
Frankly, I don't miss em in the least bit!:)

Well, yesterday was brutal.....again. Oh well, what're ya gonna do, huh? Rollin' with the punches. (Just wish they'd quit punching so HARD!)

I watched it last night and it like to have bored me out of my skull! Nearly every scenery technique covered are ones that I already know about and have been using for years. The DCC section was very basic and seemed, to me at least, more suited to first grade teaching. They'll have to come up with something much better to impress me.
