Thanks guys. You're just trying to make me feel good. They suck.

fc, I just now clicked the link in your post and it worked for me. In fact there are now two videos posted. The first one, on my screen, is the one I took today. I had to speed the train up to an unrealistic speed to make the 'time limit.' The second, or right hand one, is better. I think I will try to make the train go slower and see what happens to the quality. Jim:(

The fancier digital cameras will allow you to set "white balance" which will totally correct for the fluorescent light problem.

However, you mentioned $65, so I'm guessing yours may not have all the fancy features.

Hi Bob, Thanks for the input. Now I know why I'm not much of video guy. No white balance or focus. Simply an inexpensive 'action' cam. Stick around, the new PCM&T Southern Division will commence shortly. Jim:)

Woah there Nellie!!!
Make a couple video going in the opposite direction.
An old Indian once said: "White man only see 180 degrees ... Never look back".

Jim, I really think that your video is quite good. For someone building a layout and not originally planning on being shot from a video perspective, it’s very good. If one was to build a layout planning on great track detail so the camera would pick that kind of a thing up, they could not have done a better job. If anything , I think all of us have been spoiled with your still photography. Also I have a better perspective of how the outlay fits into the blueprint of the room. - Chris

Oh, and PS, I was going to say something about the handsome part - but I just can't bring myself to say it.

I think the video is great. Even if the quality isn't the greatest, we all finally get a feel of what the layout looks like as a whole. It's nice to know where all those photos were taken on the layout. And I agree with Sherrel. It would be great to see the layout in the opposite direction.

toot, I know that actually. Ouch!

rlundy, Maybe too late for a reverse run. I took half the trees off yesterday.

Also, the camera sucks, I think we all agree there? Good point by Chris: Small layouts probably do not lend themselves to this type of 'car view' photography; too many curves; too many mirrors; too many me for a decent presentation even with the correct camera. Jim:confused:

Jim, you are far too critical of yourself - guess that is what makes you such a great modeler - anyway, I thought the films were nice. The curves are what makes it Nice. A long straight run is boring to me .. Even most modelers have curving track along longer places where they could have just made a straight run.

I do wish that you had done more with the camera. The faster video stops every 4-5 seconds on my iPad. ( I will have to see hoe it behaves on the PC.). Also would have been nice for you to have gone up the different spurs for us who are scenery challenged.

That's all for now, carry on Sir!

Ribbing aside, I enjoyed them both, a bit fuzzy but who cares. And if we were ever tempted to do a double-take at you Jim, you've saved us the trouble 'cause there both of you were as we came out of the tunnel.

toot, I noticed that 'double' to and was twice as scared.

As for the camera. I may have given it below average rating, but tonight I played the Photobucket rendition and the one on the mini-chip. The chip version is twice as good as the Photobucket version. Do posting on Youtube make for less resolution? Also I tried to post on Youtube but it was too tough for me! Any guiding hints? Jim:confused:

Hey, I've only tried editing 1 of my vids in "movie maker", Haven't dared to try posting to YouTube. (mind you, getting around P'bucket these days is no fun either.)

If you add a couple of e's behind the P' of P'bucket, you'll understand my opinion of their "upgrade"

I tried back in the day to edit film. I just couldn't get it in my head all the steps. 10 years ago editing programs were a bit rough, hopefully they are simplified and more logical. I've never been back. Any youtube experts out there? Jim:confused:

Jim , I too would recommend Movie Maker on Microsoft then upload to youtube directly from there. Call me if you need help.
Mike
