Found a place that buys and sells model trains etc…
I got this for $3.

A little paint and it is deemed layout worthy :D I’ve already removed the roof (it was just held in place with tabs in slots) I will replace it.

This isn’t where it will be used by it looks better placed in some scenery 😃

I wasn’t able to get plaster cloth today :( so I used Spackle to fill the gaps and painted it today. Happy Holidays, everyone :D BTW I post minor updates because if I only post major updates you’ll only hear from me once a year at best 🤣

Well, the last update about this layout has been posted 😞 Sorry, this post is longer than I usually post.

I've had trouble with some of my Peco Electrofrog turnouts and don't know if I should modify them, go with Insulfrog or another manufacturer. In fact some of you may have seen my post inquiring about Peco Insulfrog over in "HO scale".

Whatever I decide about turnouts, turnouts aren't the only problem. While I'm very satisfied with the concept of my track plan I regret the exact placement of things like track center line spacing in places and the mainline distance from the edge to allow for background building industries.

My sliding door needs to be replaced so I need to remove at least 3 sections of the layout for that in the Spring. I've been thinking about this for weeks and have concluded that if I build this layout to completion I'm unlikely to live long enough to build another one to completion (at the rate I'm going 😂). I have spent most of the day dismantling the layout and salvaging everything I can from it. I will continue tomorrow and should be close to an empty room by the end of the day.

I have learned a lot building this layout and while a little disappointed I'm very excited to start again and will start a new thread when I do. I plan to start some bench work that is not in the way of the aforementioned door sometime next month 🤞

Thanks to you all for following :)

Its a shame to see this dismantled, but on the other hand it will be equally fun to watch what the new layout brings.

Hope you will incorporate your great urban structures into it!

I feel your pain PMW, everything I attempt to do leads to another issue. Even using woodland inclines side by side led to an issue. They don’t have the same height as you curve…..and they are not easy to stretch/compress….hence zero progress

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do but I think that makes sense. One would be on the outside and the other on the inside so at any point in the curve the outside would be higher than the inside (I think). Maybe you could make something out of foam or wood?

That’s exactly what happened, and yes I could do something else but then that’s a waste of what I purchased sadly….

Yeah, as someone relatively new to the hobby that has happened to me a few times. It's discouraging but for me it seems unavoidable :(. Save it, maybe you'll find another use for it
