Well, here's an update...doing a minor bathroom remodel this weekend and next (at least) :( Hopefully back to the layout soon.

I think I've decided on this for my final industry https://www.walthers.com/rail-to-ro...TDWoSpGVMENbavIwZrQkNNdKXKLIMU_BNHfZymeBQjzAU

I'm thinking of using it to handle fertilizer. Does anyone know what kind of trucks would look realistic hauling fertilizer? I don't have a clue. If you could attach a pic also that would be great! Thanks

Fertilizers come in many forms, Pellets are in sacks, 1-ton bags, cylindrical barrels or 1gallon liquid containers, to name a few so that any covered truck could transport that, bulk liquid fertilizer is in closed tankers of various sizes, you could also have open Tipper trucks for some types.

I like the idea of the open types. Thanks. I'm going to check the internet for them now

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything on the layout so I was happy to work on the elevated city scene today. Sidewalks aren’t glued so I can continue to paint and weather them and the street.

Any thoughts or suggestions as I go forward are appreciated :)

I myself haul fertilizer, we have curtain side trailers. Most of the time though guys with flatbeds come to pick up fertilizer. It generally comes in plastic bags which are stacked on pallets. A forklift loads the pallets from the side, about 18 to 20 pallets, depending on the size and weight of the bags. So an eighteen wheeler with flatbed trailer will do. But that little industry you have shown looks more like grain loading facility, since a fertilizer plant would generally have a warehouse attached to it where they bag the fertilizer.

Feels like progress is so slow lately but I continued to re-do the hills here. Just a few washes w/ acrylic paints.

Still some plaster showing through so various ground cover is the next step. I hope it looks ok because I'm not doing this a third time 😂

I have an idea about my small engine service track. I wanted two sanding towers but I like the ones meant for double track. It was suggested that I turn them 90 degrees for a single track. I thought that was a great idea but when I visualized it I just don’t like it

I think I’ll have a second track but abandoned and mostly buried and overgrown. I’ll use different ballast where the switch would have been to make it look like it was removed and the facility was downsized at some point. Or should I have the switch…it was not removed.

Or I could have a facility big enough for 4-5 engines. Too much for such a small yard? Thoughts?

Here’s a mock up
