One thing i noticed with the piping, was that the pipes which run to the engineer side of the tank are smaller diameter...i'm not even going to touch that one.
Next machine was in Missoula and i did post pictures of it from last year's trip. This one was much harder to photograph:View attachment 233991View attachment 233992
Seemingly same class as the Pasco engine, but having retained older look.

Wow, great photos! I saved a bunch, I see the S-4 on ebay from time to time, it is very similar to the S-10 that ran in our area.

I love it. Just one thing - where the buildings touch ground, it's a little abrupt with no transition or foundation. It suggests the "giant hand" could just pick it up and walk away with it. Even a light line of ground foam would fix it, make it look rooted in place. Or, a very short foundation riser - I have seen them in 19th century photos of clapboard houses.

That is because most of the buildings are not yet attached, their locations not permanent yet. I will gradually blend them in as landscaping gets completed.

"this idea" being a full fledged around the room layout? A spouse can't really say no to a bookshelf layout. Shouldn't anyway... but there is always a way.

I added some signs, the switch stand, and other details around the gas station.

All the ground cover work is completed around the Groningen depot

I am wrapping up the rest of the ground cover and ballast, however all the trees will not be in place right away, also more buildings to construct and place. Particularly in Groningen and Grantsburg. A cafe and cannery in Groningen and still undetermined historic building (s) in Grantsburg.

We have more men working on the face of the quarry, one using the jackhammer and the others getting a piece of stone out, engine house details:

No OSHA, they ran this operation until about 1935 in some capacity. Started about 1890.

Find pic of train shed with new steps, and the inside of the shed after a thorough cleaning. Still need to install the lighting (street lights, interior lighting) and getting some skirting in place for the layout.

I may be putting square bales around the train shed yet this fall, either that or foam

Here is the inside: (the lift out is on the floor on the left side)

Walk around throttle on the right.

Work bench on the left, slides out also find myself moving it to different locations

The sawmill area:

I would call those "nice" logs, coming from a former logger. One is a little "sweepy"

Looking great. Something to think about on your skirting is to attach it on the back side of the outer edge and use Velcro to attach it. Makes it easy to get it out of the way if you ever need to get under there

the good thing about your container, if you want to create more layout, just buy another container and add it to the back, open the wall and baaam more room

Good point there...I used fabric on my last layout and it seemed to get shabby looking in a couple years.

I may be using a rolled paper product on this one, leaving some access areas open. Still open to debate here
