ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. That would be nice. They do certainly look better now especially the plastic ones like this 1950 Dodge. I was really disappointed when they cancelled the ford sedan.

I also wish the Atlas Masterpiece series (tight shot of car on flat car) would make a car from the 50's.

So far I think Atlas Masterpiece cars are the most realistic looking.

The model power can be nice too; check out the Lincoln.

Ya know, that 1950 Dodge is close enough to my folks' 1950 Plymouth, if it were in black. The reason I was looking at the Life-Like taxis is the hood ornament appears to resemble the swept-wing rocket that Olds had.

The 50 Dodge is available in black (see link below). Only real visible difference between a 50 Dodge and a 50 Plymouth would be the grille and tail lights. Plymouth was on a slightly shorter wheelbase though, so the front fenders and hood would be a little bit shorter on the Plymouth than the Dodge.

Heres a few more pictures demonstrating the difference in scale.
The red El Camino, blue 48 Olds, and 53 Ford Squire are 1/87 scale,
The Matchbox 59 Impala, 59 Ford wagon, and the old Aurora Thunderjet 62 Ford convertible and wagon are 1/72 scale. The red 63 Impala and black 63 Ford Galaxie are 1/64 scale.
The yellow Deuce coupe, the red Dodge Dart and the silver Dodge Charger are 1/18 scale.

What type of car and year is the black one.

Nice collection.

Jim, can you show pictures of that diorama of what looks like 1/24th or 1/18th scale cars? Looks like you got a cool 50's and 60's drive in going there.

Thanks for your interest. Heres a link to photos of two 4'x8', 1/18 scale dioramas that I built with the help of a couple friends. One is a Bob's Big Boy drive in restaurant and the other is condensed version of Grand Spaulding Dodge car dealership.

Meanwhile I apologize for getting off topic. But, regardless of scale, the buildings on both of the dioramas illustrate that sheets of plexiglass from Lowes or Home Depot, can be epoxied together to form a building as I had suggested to Justme2011 in his thread asking about building sky scrapers out of styrofoam and cardboard under the "Buildings and Structures" heading. The shop section of the dealership is made from foam core board covered with brick paving material for Dept 56 ceramic Christmas villages. The same material covers some of the plexiglass making up the restaurant as well.

Day was at the father!
It has shown collection pickups '30-'40-'50 Years in 1:64 scale... One frustration - on-that not at 1:87?)))
And the most interesting to me is the price???
At 1:64 is cheaper than 1:87??? To so has solved???
;-)

The good old boys got some new race cars to drive the townies crazy with.

So the State of Illinois invested in some power of their own.

Jim - Excellent work on the dioramas. Really nice detail and a great way to show off a collection.

You'll need a lot more then that for the blues brothers scene. I think about 321 more and that will be able it. Oh yeah, don't forget the old Dodge Police interceptor they drove.

I'll keep an eye out ofr you this weekend at the Timonium MD show. I'll be there with the Capital Area Free-Mo group and have time to look around for you.

Kevin,
It is going to be this weekend 9-10. If you get there stop by the free-mo layout as I'll be there with a new module I'm working on since I did your diorama.
