Great find Rustam, I especially like that old Chev truck!
Good looking ground cover also, what did you use for that?

I without mind from it CHEVY'50 ;-) am very happy :-)

The green grass is a decor in sheets from "Noch" - 11$ .
I like that it both green and yellow in places... It is possible to do the north and the south :-)))

When the scale has no value ;-0

M2 is the company that makes them. They are roughly 1/64 scale, like Johnny Lightnig and Hot Wheels. But they have better detail, and for around $4.00 are a pretty good buy. S scale modelers should love them.

Jim

This car I have bought When the scale 'HO' has no value
It not so... I like it and all ;-)

Has added in a collection today!

Anybody know where I could find an HO scale 1949 Oldsmobile sedan...the one with the external metal visor over the windshield? My grandfather had one.

Your probbly out of luck. When you get specific there isn't everything available. Mini Metals made a Chevy Fleetline a few years back which was close and even those are discontinued now, as far as a visor, you'd have to make your own and I am going to try one sometime, those were really "in" back in the day. There are a couple companies out there making odd models http://shop.stoneymountaincc.com/SMC-601-47-BUICK-ROADMASTER-SEDAN-4-DOOR-SMC-601.htm but they are Resin castings and are soild with no interior, you have to paint the winows to make it look like glass.

Scale Structures (old Alloy Forms) has a metal 50 Chev - http://66.241.223.134/merchant2/mer...de=AF2019&Category_Code=AF100&Product_Count=7

Pretty much figured that. Life-Like (I think) has a couple of taxicabs that look like they have a rocket hood ornament. Might work if the roof sign was removed and the vehicle repainted dark blue (or was it green...it's only been about sixty years).

I'll look into that Scale Scenics kit, too.

Gregs Garage Models makes, or made, a '48 Olds 98 4 door sedan and a '49 Olds 2 door fastback in 1/87 scale. These are solid one piece clear resin castings. They came in unpainted kit form, and hand painted (all except the clear windows). They do not have the visor option.
I think they are just slightly under scale, but I could be wrong. Parked next to the Mini Metals 53 Ford Country Squire wagon like the one in Zoegraf's photo above, the Gregs Garage 48 Olds 98 sedan is the same width, but considerably shorter. Maybe as much as a scale foot shorter in length.
(Nice picture by the way, Zoegraf)

Keep in mind that the 48 Olds 98 used the same body as the 49-50 Olds, while the lower priced 48 Oldsmobiles used the 46-47 Olds body.

Heres a link to a model listing of Gregs Garage Model vehicles along with a few photos of their vehicles (but no pictures of the Olsmobiles).

Life Like's Taxicabs (and matching coupes) actually more closely resemble the 49-50 Mercury.
Vereem makes a 49-50 Chevy 4 door sedan thats pretty nicely detailed. The basic body pretty closely resembles that of a 49-50 Olds sedan. Truckstop Models may still have the Vereem Chevy in stock.

1953 "Woody"

I am impressed with the 1953 ford wagon released by Classic Metal Works. I picked up a couple myself. Their vehicles keep improving as they are released. Now if they would just work out an agreement with Chrysler we would be seeing their 1956 Dodge cars.

Well, thanks, all! I check all the options, and get to this project sometime down the road, as I am still trying to find the time to finish wiring my classification yard and get the scenery done.

That would be nice. They do certainly look better now especially the plastic ones like this 1950 Dodge. I was really disappointed when they cancelled the ford sedan.

I also wish the Atlas Masterpiece series (tight shot of car on flat car) would make a car from the 50's.

So far I think Atlas Masterpiece cars are the most realistic looking.

The model power can be nice too; check out the Lincoln.

I found my 1/87 scale Gregs Garage Models 48 Olds 98 sedan. This resin model came painted and assembled.
I wanted to illustrate it's scale next to some other 1/87 scale cars. At the same time I decided to show the differences in scale between 1/87 scale (HO), 1/72 scale, and 1/64 scale (S scale).

In the first photo the Greg's Garage 48 Olds 98 is in the middle of the photo behind the Brekina red Camaro and the Ricko purple Cuda.
In the last photo, its the blue car between the Brekina 59 El Camino and the Mini Metals 53 Ford Country Squire wagon. The Vereem 50 Chevy sedan that has similar body lines to the Olds, is the black car in the lower right of the first photo and appears in the last photo next to the Road Ragers two tone white and gray 1960 Ford Falcon sedan.

Heres a few more pictures demonstrating the difference in scale.
The red El Camino, blue 48 Olds, and 53 Ford Squire are 1/87 scale,
The Matchbox 59 Impala, 59 Ford wagon, and the old Aurora Thunderjet 62 Ford convertible and wagon are 1/72 scale. The red 63 Impala and black 63 Ford Galaxie are 1/64 scale. Notice how small the HO (1/87) scale Camaro and Cuda are compared to the S (1/64) scale Impala and Galaxie. 1/64 scale is the scale of Most small diecast cars such as most Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, etc.
The yellow Deuce coupe, the red Dodge Dart and the silver Dodge Charger are 1/18 scale.
