    How steep is too steep?

    Great video DJ! Steepest grade I’ve ever been on was in Trail BC at just over 4%. (Hirail firetruck) Rules say to have an empty car between every three or four loads for braking as I recall. We had to lift the rail wheels slightly just to get more traction on the drive wheels due to wet rails! 😳...

    I’m slowly ballasting my turnouts when the mood hits. I’ve done the real thing and can tell you it’s a pain as well! 😆 You only need a little, like half way up the ties and use a pipette or eye dropper to apply the glue mix.     Well coincidentally I also ran an F45 yesterday on an MOW train. First task was to clear the work area to get to the main.

    I use the Woodland Scenics “just plug” system. It’s a bit more pricey than making your own wiring and LED’s but very simple and quick. It also has some pretty nifty options for different effects. I added some led streetlights from a different mfg, works just fine.

    Front End Friday

    The sun was setting when I caught this F45 crawling up the grade in notch eight, the rail still looked pretty wet from last nights snowfall.
