    Yep, and the old trestle remnants on the climb to Hagerman Tunnel. Crashed my brains out on the way back down. Picked up the full suspension Specialized bike, hoped back on and rode it like a crazy teenager on the rest of the trip back to the truck. Probably not to smart, LOL. We had a GREAT...

    Hey Marco, there are two active L&N (obviously, former) within a few miles of my house on the CSX. One is strictly rough cut, the other has a concrete entrance. The tunnel that is the subject of this thread has a concrete entrance.

    Beautiful pics. Back in 2018 my son and I rode our mountain bikes up to Hagerman Tunnel (near Leadville). There's just so much left of the mining and railroad history out there. Great place to visit. In one of my DVD videos there is footage of that C&S Consolidation under steam.

    If the UP/NS deal is ultimately approved, BNSF/CSX are likely going to follow with a merger of their own. Since BNSF stands for Burlington Northern Santa Fe and CSX for Chessie, Seaboard and other, we can only wonder what the resulting merger railroad would be named. I suggest "Santa Fe". LOL...

    Marco, as a suggestion you might try asking Grok (X). Enter the dimensions, minimum turn radius, point to point or continuous run, etc. You may be surprised at the information it generates. Some of it will certainly be useful.

    Glad to hear her outlook is good and trust she'll fully recover. Good on ya regarding the 2nd retirement. Agreed, there are way more important things than working all the time.

    That's awesome. He will remember these days vividly for the rest of his life. Based on my experience it will greatly enhance his development too. There are no downsides to a little fellow running trains with his grandpa. Its all good!
