My first foray into x-mas layout is complete. I was going to do a permanent layout, however, due to time and money constraints I went with a temporary one. I used a 4x4 layout table with the legs removed, and a hole in the middle so that the x-mas tree can stick out, and the stand will not be in the way of the layout. Now hopefully we can keep the 2 cats and my 19 month old from trashing the place...
Nice little layout you have there. Just so you know, having a Christmas layout can "snow ball' into a permanent one pretty quickly! One of the little ones will most certainly trash it though. Oh well, it's a reason to build a bigger one next time!
Doug, looks just fine of a Christmas tree layout. The only suggestion I'd make is to paint the inside walls of the houses black so they don't glow quite a much.
This is the first year I installed a Lionel O gauge under the tree thought it be a simple task in the end it turned out nice but now my pocket is about $600 light from it and now am in the process of building a N gauge layout do to limited space I was hit by a pretty big "snow ball" ......lol
kool
I set my basics 18' radius loop up under the tree last night.
Have to take some pics when its done. add the 22" outer loop etc
After my 2 and 5 year old got at it last year I'm trying to limit it to safe lifelike stuff etc.
F7A/B, maybe GP40, no steam except for a photo maybe LOL
I like the board idea. hmm.. might have to build one for next year since the tree is already decorated.
This how it started for me last year... Still negotiating for a permanent snowball location in the new house.
(neat just downloaded a new avatar for SD AZ railway)
Ahh pics, not sure how to do the thumbnail thing yet. Sorry Doug.
A few circa 1976 models in the back of the pic.
LOL It looks funny.
Not sure when my 5 year old figured out "Pennsylvania" wasn't how you spelled "Polar Express" LOL (Silly edumications)
