track signal installation

I'm kind of new (again) at this hobby, just purchased the model power 1678 track signal, (with the prewired switch) the instructions say system requirements are maintenance equipment, the question is is there a special location to mount the switch, (which is attached and about 6 inches from the signal)

You can mount the signal virtually anywhere you want it. As for the wire, just splice in however much you need to reach your control panel or other convenient location.

ok. I was thinking about the splicing option, but wasn't sure if the length was a critical factor, thanks

The wire length won't effect it at all. I've seen them with over 20 feet of wire and they worked just fine.
