static clump of grass- home made!

Very ingenious. What is he using for power and how does he get the grass clumps off the aluminum piece without wrecking them?

I make grass clumps from colored faux fur:

Untrimmed virgin clumps

Once they are glued down they can be vacuumed, combed as they are indestructible, unlike static grass. The faux fur can be colored and highlighted using thinned artist oil paints instead of Dye-na-flow in small quantities.

Thank you if you visit

We could all do that stuff, if we could just get our hands on a Hochspannungsbegrasungsgerät.

If any one wants it... its not great but it gets the basics said.
Some years ago I would go with the help of a building from the Internet Hochspannungsbegrasungsger? To build it (This instruction is probably no longer in the network, but there are a few alternative building, or even completed? Te) I use the Ger? Its really rare, because I have never really N with fiber to the landscape design and friends could prefer to work with fine flakes. There is, however, its use in the manufacture of Grass? Scheln.

The principle is relatively simple. I go from an aluminum foil, which I do with a bit of double adhesive tape to fix a board.

When I glue crystal Window Color. It remains flexible after drying, is transparent and has a perfect consistency. The Window Color is 2-5 mm in big drops in on the slide upset.

Above the film (about 1 cm distance) will Flyscreens tense. As spacers and clamping frame serves for me a St? Ck plywood. Flyscreens and aluminum foil will work with the Poland of Begrasungsger? Tes connected.

Now I sprinkle long grass fibers (here by the company Heki) in a d? Can layer on the Flyscreens and knock with a wooden rod (Schaschlikspie? O.?.) Fiber through the grid.

The glue l? T you just attract. Then? The end Begrasungsger? T off the grid and away. In general, the fibers are now fairly tight and upright. If the B? Schel now about the finger? Leads, skip the fibers apart and form halbkugelf? Rings forms.

This Grass? Schel I beflocke or so they have something. F? R flocked the variant are slightly firmer wild grass fibers of Fa still good.

The Alublech is well manageable St? Cke cut and with green or brown acrylic paint nem eingesp? Ht immediately and with few, very fine flakes strewn. Then? End can again with Spr? Hkleber at the tips colored Bl? Ten afford.

Hello
Nice to see an english translation of my text here :).

There are some questions, which I can explain: My "Hochspannungsbegrasungsgerät" is a electrostatic grass applicator similar to that described Arnold Huebsch (http://atw.huebsch.at/Elektronik/Elektrostat.htm. It is not the same but the principle is described in english.
The clumbs can be removed from the aluminium coil using a beveled edge chisel (I hope its the right word).

Another application from a newer scenery you can see here.

Further pictures are placed on my homepage, but the text is in german language.

Bye and sorry for my worse english (it's a long time ago when I've learned it)
Helmut

That looks very effective,,,

Now Then, a static producer can be made from a battery fly zapper, cut it open and just connect the wires to the mesh and base as illustrated, it's not as powerful but does a similar job, bet a tazer would work as well come to think of it.

Very nice looking grasses, Helmut. As has been said, your English is much better than my five words of German. :) Steve, I wish I was still on the job. I'll bet I could rig up a taser to work the same as a static grass dispenser and that baby puts out some volts. I have the feeling I'd probably get in big trouble if my sergeant found out I was using my taser on my train layout though. :D

Impressive work Helmut!

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Jos.

Well grande man that is what itis all about ...I mean a forum isn't it?:)
and sorry Helmut I caused you a lot of trouble!! lol:rolleyes:;) but IT, your homepage, IS great!!!
Your english is far more better than mine!!
