A friend and I are considering building a small HO modular layout that we can take to shows. We want something we can transport in our pickup trucks, so the modules can not be longer than 6 feet or deeper than 4 feet. Ideally we would each do one end module and one main module giving us each two to transport. We both model the C&O in WV.

Anyone here ever do something similar, or know of any plans for something like that?

Ah, well, just of the top of my head, I'd suggest a straight dogbone.

Each of you could do an end loop and one middle section. You could hide or mask the loops so they're not quite so obvious and the middle sections would be your two-track mainline with whatever. I'd make the midsections 2 feet or make 2.5 feet deep.

A bonus is that you could then add more midsections as time, money, and desire allowed.
