i like it. I like the fact that your layout runs the trains with some speed to them. I hate watching some trains just crawl around a layout. Open them up!!!

Also does anyone think its possible to use a sound decoder on some bends/turns on a layout and use sound for flange squeel? Kinda give it a lil more realistic sound to it?

Very nice videos although I think the trains are going too fast for my tastes. I always relate it to watching a train at a grade crossing. If it's a freight, I've never seen one whiz by me. :)

NYSW, if I understand your question correctly, every sound equipped locomotive I have has flange squeal effect, usually by pressing F7. My BLI E-7 even has automatic braking sounds as the engine comes to a stop, a nice touch that isn't common with most sound systems.

I didn't know about the loco's coming with it. Thats nice and all, but only the loco will have it and you need to press a function key. What i was thinking is having the sound decoder or something similar right near the bend and having it activated as the train is passing over it, this way the squeel is there while the train is passing over and not just the loco having it.

NYSW, that's an intriguing idea. I've never heard of any commercial item to do this but I'll bet you could whip something up with a small MP3 player mounted under the layout at the curve with the power activated and deactivated by an optical detector. It might be a little tricky to get the detection time right for trains headed in both directions but I'm sure someone with a lot more electronics experience than me could come up with a way.
