Hello,

I have a Sears Roebuck #9757 Locomotive that I was cleaning and a small spring popped out that I am unsure from where. :/

Have been trying with no luck to find a schematic. It came out from the front transformer section and I think it connects to one of the poles in Green or Yellow, but then I am unsure.

This is a personal family set that I'd like to see running again.

I appreciate any help.

I think what you have is a set made by Louis Marx and Co. for Sears.

Can you post more photos? The set box would be great or the locomotive shell and the cars that came with it.

From what information I have got from others so far, sounds like the spring may have been an official aftermarket Grandpa part to keep the locomotive locked into a single direction.

That is plausible. Have you tried running the locomotive without the spring?

For the record this was made by Marx. You can see the couplers from the open box picture. A very nice set.

This diagram shows how it all works. The frame is grounded to the outer rails.

There are three connections on the wedge. My initial diagram had four which was incorrect.
The Top is representative of the motor field coil. The right is the armature and brush arrangement,
The bottom shows the reverse unit coil.
The star shows the location of a switch to lock out the wedge position.
