LOL, Exacto blades are sharp but I wouldn't like to do surgery with one, especially a #11. That handle is kind of interesting though. I've often wished for a thinner handle when doing close work.
That #12 blade looks wicked

Thats like a hook blade we use at the phone company to open cables. Also called a "Gut-Blade" for the deer hunters out there..LOL...
These would make us modlers look like doctors..."Bob to the train room STAT!!"...Changing blades looks risky. Better keep the first-aid kit handy..LOL

Followed a
thread on Papermodelers.com about this subject. At the very end that's me who 'skulks' an Olfa Precision Art Knife blade holder (#AK-4) off of eBay. That link I posted .. notice that the scapel blades run about 20 cents each .. compared to about 15 cents each for X-ACTO blades

I had one of those scalpel handles, and yes it's easy to cut yourself working with plastic. However they may be OK for cutting skin and paper but the pressure from cutting plastic makes short work of them. That little tongue that holds the blade will split after enough use,
Cheers

I've already tried to cut my hand off with a regular x-acto..i could imagine the kind of damage I would do with this thing......I WANT ONE!

I have found that the blade just doesn't hold up with very much pressure without breaking. (Also, it is hard to see through the blood puddles on the plastic

.)
The original thread was from PaperModelers.com .. where using the knife I imagine would be much less apt to break ... paper .. the OTHER modeling material

Yeah, everytime I cut myself it's like cutting paper, not styrene.

I don't think a surgeon would need a scalple that cuts plastic

as somebody with a wife that works for a animal hospital I can tell
you these #11 blades are SHARPE!!!!! you neeg to grind the little nub to
fit your exato blade holder!!! i must have 100 of these blades
