Louis - Not meaning to slight your niece or daughter, but all of my college friends with English majors work{ed} in totally unrelated fields.
I took it as no slight at all.

I sent my daughter to the University of Maryland as an Economics major. Not an easy major to be accepted into. I invested a lot of time and money in her education only for her to become a teacher. Oh well, the kids she helps will benefit.

Good morning gang!

64° and raining looks like the rain should be around till about lunchtime with a high today of 74°

I missed the day in the coffee shop yesterday. Monday night I came home from work and had the uncontrollable shakes. Immediately went to bed. Did not eat or drink anything. I did manage to forced down a whole bottle of Gatorade yesterday went to the doctor last night and he said it’s a viral infection. Flu and Covid test came back negative and this morning. I woke up and actually felt good. Not going to work today taking it easy maybe the smart thing.

Hughie happy anniversary!

TomO ,congratulations to you and Terry

Jell-O and applesauce for breakfast

extra profits?
smirk!!!
yes, if the corporate tax rate were 0% the corporations would either reduce prices or have a larger profit to report (which would get passed on to shareholders, employees, executives, etc. Most all corporations have to disburse funds above a certain level of reserves. This is how they determine dividends for some companies, and how they fuel salaries, bonuses, acquisitions, new R&D etc at others.)

You can teach and help a child only so much.

The path they choose is theirs and theirs alone. You can do nothing about it. You hope the path they do take is a honest one.
You did well. Teaching is a honest and rewarding profession.

With all the data collected by the department of labor, I would think they could forecast what occupations would be short of employees a few years down the road. This would help young college students choose a career they would find work in after their studies.
A more general study like an MBA degree covers most of the areas of management. It's the student who goes beyond finding the textbook answer who will benefit more from the college degree.

No truer words have been spoken.

All three of my kids are a bit lazy and self-centered, but they are honest.

All three are financially independent and no longer require my support. 😁 I did something right!

Thank you for your kind words.

It feels like 82 here in NW Indiana at 9:30am. Haven't had much time to do anything MR wise. Had the right hand wrapped up from trigger finger (2 fingers worth) surgery. The bandages came off last Friday. Found out last week that the bone specialist diagnosed my foot incorrectly last February, he said it was the foot and I've been going to therapy for that since February, it was getting worse instead of better...went to a foot specialist and he did tests and said out of 3 ankle ligaments, 2 are shot and the last one is barely working. Hopefully this time they got it right...Now getting to Joan, Friday we go to a heart doctor to discuss her leaky valve situation...doesn't look good and they are saying open heart surgery. Joan is scared (I am too, she is my everything). She is wanting to get more opinions; but I think she is just frightened and wants someone to say that it is not an emergency...I don't want to F-around and waste time on opinions. They put a camera down her throat and watch the leaky valve and they say it's bad...That's good enough for me, l vote she gets it done sooner than later...the consultation is Friday, so no train time until we hear the news Friday
John our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Afternoon all,

Started this an hour ago and finally got back to it.

City employee quarterly lunch today. Outdoor picnic. They had games for prizes, Volleyball, Pickleball, cornhole, ladder toss, giant Jenga and giant 4 Across (like Connect 4). You gotta play 4 and get a card punched and put in a basket to get into the drawing for a prize. I mentioned to the head of HR, that my current restrictions on file would only limit me to being able to play 2, I couldn't participate. She said play each one twice, and they'd punch my card for one of the others. So I did, and they did and then I got drawn out of the bucket. $25 grocery gift card to the Kroger affiliate. Who can't use $25 worth of groceries...

TomO: Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs.

$25? A loaf of bread and a six pack?
