I am looking for (but should not be, as I am modeling the 1950's) the RP20BD
switcher in HO scale.

I saw a few in Ft. Worth for the first time a few months ago and thought they were really cool. I know they are new locos, and for the 1950s would be a "Back to the Future" sort of thing. But for me it's one of those "gotta get one" deals.

Anyone make one in HO?

Here's the real deal:

And is this considered a switcher? I don't THINK they are, as I have seen 3 or 4 MU'd pulling freight out of Ft. Worth.

They r consider road switchers amtrak have 1 as well when I went 2 da train show n long beach atlas rep said they will be out durin the summer I guess they tryin compete with rapido since the LRC's come out n june as well

The Gensets that Atlas are making at the 3GS21Bs made by NRE. The RP20BD was made by the Railpower company (not to be confused with Railpower products) which is no longer in business.

They aren't meant to be used as freight engines, but most railroads see them as GP38s so they lash a few of them together and run them on a local.

The MBTA tried running them in passenger service and they failed miserably :D
