I'm about to embark on my first-ever kitbashing project. Not been entirely happy with the 'plastic cement' I've used in the past. Wonder what others recommend?
I have been using Plastruct Plastic Weld for years with no problems.
Ben King used to use Lacquer thinner.
I like Tamiya Extra Thin cement. Wicks deep into the joints and dries super fast. It doesn't build up and stand out when painted, either. I also use Tenax 7R but this is a very strong smelling glue, but works the same as the Tamiya.
MEK , once you try it you will never use anything else.
Northern Pacific history enthusiast
I use Gorilla Glue CA glue. The best bond made when the edges to glue, if glossy, are roughed up a bit with very fine sandpaper.
Used to use MEK until Plastic Weld arrived. Much better than MEK and would never use anything else.

Can you tell us what is the difference with the Plastic Weld over MEK? Also, where did you get it and some details like that.
Thank you.
Dave
Here in the UK a company called Slaters Plastikard introduced styrene sheet and the liquid adhesive was Mek-Pak. It was much better than the old tube adhesives, but not aggressive enough for some ABS type plastics. Then Plastic Weld was recommended by our local hobbyshop and it works well on almost anything plastic. Since then have never used anything else. Plastic Weld is by Plastruct and was needed for their ABS shapes, which MEK would not fix.
FYI
Plastic Weld is 85% Dichloromethane and 15% MEK
I use the plastruct for styrene as well. Seems to work well for me.
