I won the monthly Kitbashing award in RMC in the May 2011 issue for my kitbashed Walther's allied rail rebuilders.
I haven't recieved anything for the magazine for it though. I'm supposed to get a dremel kit and a minimum of 100$ but nothing has shown up yet. I have repeated contacted the magazine to tell them that I haven't gotten anything but I usually get a 'our computers are down' or 'the front office is a mess and they're the ones who deal with this' I sent my last message last weekend and now they aren't even replying.
I'm a little peeved at all this since i was thinking of getting a new digital camera with the funds so I could submit better pictures with my next article.
Anyone else have issues?

It took a while to get reimbursed fpr the April 2010 story and cover shot of my HO scale American Freedom Train. All I can say, is patience. BTW ' a while ' was about 3-4 months. Eventually it does arrive....

Well I got the payment for the article today, ten months after it was published . It does eventually arrive after all!

Hi Glen and Congrats on winning the award and glad you finally received your check. Did you ever get the Dremel kit they mentioned?


Camera are getting better and coming down in price, which one/s are you looking at? Most of the name brands produce good cameras so you just need to shop around.

Thanks, there were times I thought that the payment wasn't coming at all but I'm happy it's finally arrived

Actually my wife surprised me with the camera that I wanted for Christmas:

She got an amazing deal on it due to it being a display model (79.00)
I've always been impressed with the optics on the Fugi's so it was a no-brainer to go with this one.
The payment for the article will go into my hobby fund, either for MRR or the new Mountain bike I've been saving for

I haven't gotten the dremel tool yet but with the delivery of the cheque I have new hope that it will get here soon

Congrat Glen!
Now comes the hard part, being patient!! I too, won the RMC award back in October 2009, Took a long time to get payment and the Dremel, but it did come. Evidently RMC only orders from Dremel every 6 months, so hurry up and wait!!
It's gotten to a point that, after 6 articles, I don't submit any more til I get paid for the last one. Might slow me down, but it keeps me from being as confused as the folks at RMC.

Here it is. It started with a Walthers Cornerstone Allied Rail Rebuilders.

I cut and swapped some walls around to build a larger machine shop on the side. Interior details are still coming along with and interior crane for the trackside.
