Can anyone tell me do these normally come put together right out of the pack? Also this is a #205

I ask because i purchaced a supposed (new) one this weekend from a store out of town, and opened it when i got home to find it assembled and dusty.

But the instructions of it say its ready to assemble and that it should come with 3 springs, 10 #208 red washers for the couplers ect, which mine was missing 2 springs and all the washers.

then again the kadee sight says a #205 should come with a #5 and a #58 coupler. The instructions that came with mine say a #4 coupler and #4 cover

can anyone give me some insight on this so i can contact the place i bought it from and let them know.

thanks Mike

Mike, I bought mine 20 years or so ago and it was assembled and ready to use. I can't remember if it came with spacers or springs though.

It should come mostly assembled with you only having to put in the correct coupler. Mine came with a #5 and #58 coupler along with the springs and spacers. I don't even remember when #4's were common. I think you got sold some really old stock. I'd ask for an exchange to get the current model.

I got mine about a month ago and it was ready to assemble, it came with 3 springs, 10 #208 red washers, #5 and a #58 coupler. I aslo would take it back if I were you.

My original 205 needed to have the coupler put on and the cover staked down. That was a long long time ago. As long as you are not happy and going to return it you might as well get the newer plastic version. In case you are doing a quick spot check on the actual layout at least it won't cause a short if the rails are carrying a power signal.
